Ive attached a Pic of Baron Misuraca, My hair is at 2 inches past classic and now I am going for the calves, thats my new goal! Ill attach a new pic, been growing four years.
Back in the 80s I had hair that long, I found it too long
to handle. For me the ideal length is waist length.
I loved having hair that length but it was very difficult to avoid
damage to the hair, and was difficult to care for.
I often had to wear it in a bun/braid it/or tie it up to control it. I couldn't enjoy having it down which is my preference for
wearing it. I could wear it down more often at waist length. Also when I wore it down the hair was longer than the cut off shorts that I wore. I was also often sitting on the hair and it
was far too easy to get it caught on things like car doors, car windows, etc. And it was far too easy to get tangles/knots.
But still I loved the length, but it was too much to care for.
And when I went hiking, mountain climbing, biking, I couldn't fully enjoy the length hanging free. The chance of damage was
too great, too easy to get damaged.
Also it was far too easy to get the hair caught in jacket zippers, straps on my farmer overalls, etc.
Each to his own but far from practical in any normal environment.
I've admired the Baron's beautiful long mane for several years. Growing to such a wonderful length is certainly not something everyone is able to due - for genetic or other reasons. But those who can and do grow their hair to such lengths are much admired in my book. I wish you well in reaching your goal.
Good growing!
As others have said, calf length isn't very practical for everyday life if you keep it down, but once you learn a few ways of containing it, it is no barrier to pretty much any activity. Certainly it didn't pose any problems for this last weekend of heavy trailwork (logging, brushing, trail clearing) with traditional tools.

Let me try that link again!
Traditional tool use with calf length hair contained
Thanks, now I know the trick, and now I know the importance of bun covers used in China (think Chun Li from Street Fighter II). If I have some relatives that go back to China to visit, i'll definitely have to ask for some bun covers even though i'm no where near your length, it'll be good to have anyways to cover my top knot buns or buns in general. :)
