Allright, so since there's no point in puttin up a picture of my hair around 2.5 months into the growth proccess, as I am sure you've all seen candy cotton growing mostly upwards and sideways before... I am going to put up a different picture here :)
Here a group picture of the current products I use for my hair, and a few questions regarding them.
1. Aussie Miracle Moist (for dry/damaged hair). I picked this up about a week ago since I seems to recall hearing about this product here somewhere. The lady in the store ment it will give dry hair, such as mine, great moisture and will help tame it while growing it long. I first use the shampoo and massage it well into my scalp, then let it work for around 5 mins before washing it out, then apply the conditioner and do the same, before washing it out with cold water. Anyone have any experience with the product?
2. Head & Shoulders (for dry scalp) shampoo and conditioner. I usually use these into the cycle of washing when I start noticing some scalp dryness and flakes in my hair. I think I might start using the shampoo twice a week and only use the Aussie Miracle conditioner otherwise. Not sure I can acutally use other shampoos withouth getting all dried up.
3. Style Maroccan Argan oil. I use this stuff after each washing of the hair, which is about 3-4 times a week. It leaves my hair totally smooth, shiny and soft, though I am not 100% certain about it's effect on volume and curl. God knows I have enough of those two. Any experience here?
4. Boar Bristle Brush. Used to date a hairstylist back in the day, and imagine my surprise when I found out that this brush she left behind is that fancy BBB people are raving about! It feels great on the scalp and I can feel it's effect well after a brush. No broken hairs, even though I imagine mine are too short to noticbly show on the brush anyways. I love it!
That's pretty much it for my routine so far.
Would love to see and hear what are you guys using, as well as your opinions and comments on my routine :)
Fluffy afro, out!
Hi Raul,
That was a neat post. I don't use any of those products. I tried the Argan oil once, but not sure about it. I was happy with the way it made my hair feel. I need to get a wooden comb and boar britle brush. If your routine is working I wouldn't change anything.
What I do is shampoo and condition 2 times per week. I condition only or water wash only on the remaining days. Every time I final rinse my hair with the coldest water I can stand and comb through my hair in the shower. Once a month or so, I use clarifying shampoo to remove buildup. This routine has made a big difference in how my hair feels and looks I believe. Take care everyone!

Hey Raul,
What a fun idea. I am curious what all of you in this forum use on a daily basis! Well here is mine. This is only a small representation of what I have. I have a collection of "hair artillery", can be used for weapons I guess, dual functionality-keeping hair in a bun, or a weapon. hehehe I've also omitted treatments such as henna, moisture treatments I practice, etc...
1) Giovanni line "Smooth as Silk" silicone free. I haven't tried it yet since I just bought it. I'll be trying it this Sunday. Sunday is the only time I wash my hair. But I take a bath everyday, I just wash my hair once a week.
2) Hair forks, sticks, this only a small part of my collection. Damn the other forum for getting me into this and bunning my hair on a daily basis. Wishbone (deer antler), Archery Arrow made from a real arrow, Obsidian blade arrow ( I have to be careful when using this since it can cut hair if placed incorrectly).
3) Body Shop wooden comb, my favorite before using the tangle teezer.
4) Tangle Teezer. Best ever brush I can't live without. I found out about this from my friends at another forum.
5) Extra Virgin Coconut oil. Daily leave in I use to treat my ends.
6) Aloe Vera gel. I use this to smooth out any frizz I have every time I bun my hair.
7) Rat tail comb. Used to smooth out hair (final finishing tool for me), Also I use it to part my hair in the middle for Indian pigtail braid styles.
8) Hair bands. I now use these to make my hair necklace for bedtime.
I can't believe how complicated my system is...Like I said I have more.... This is an eyeopener for me so thanks for starting this thread.
cheers,
rowie
oops I forgot to mention I have a big paddle brush made of a 100 percent boar bristles. I only use this to spread coconut oil on the top layer of my hairs. My hair is too thick for it to penetrate to reach my scalp.
I also use a hand mirror to check how the back of my hair looks after I style or brush it.
The only one I can really comment on is number two, the anti-dandruff shampoo. Recently 'Suave' started making an anti-dandruff conditioner in several formulations, of which I chose the one containing coconut and shea butter. I think this is a better solution as you can avoid the harshness of the anti-dandruff shampoo while still getting the protection. This works especially well for those of us that use the condition only routine on most days.

That sounds great, Dale, though unfortunately, I don't think Suave products Are being marketed here in Norway. Will probably have to look for another, less damaging alternative to head & shoulders after a while.
