I'm 59 and didn't make a conscious decision to grow my hair, I just did. Not trying to make a statement and could care less what the other 98% think of long hair on older men.
I think I'm at the point now where I am a longhair, but I think 3-4 more inches would be ideal.
I've peaked into this forum for a few months and enjoy seeing other guys hair. So, this is me. My name is Phil.
Hi Phil,
This is a wonderful photo of you! I really like the color of your hair and it should look fabulous when it gets longer. I am happy to see you grow your hair at 59. I think there needs to be more older men growing their hair. Yes, I would consider you to be a longhair. Of course, 3-4 inches would be great. But I think about mid-back length with your hair would be just fantastic! Thanks for the update and welcome to the MLHH! Have a great week my friend!
Ted
Thanks Ted, my hair hasn't been this long since my twenties!
Hi Phil,
Very nice photo of you! However, I like the silver color better!:)
Ted
Me too!
Hi Phil,
Cheers to another 59 year old guy with long hair, and in fact, you are the same age as me. I will be turning 60 this August. Your hair looks good now, and will look even better with increased length. It goes to show that one can never be too old to have long hair!
Keep it growing,
David
60 in July..hard to believe. Did we have the best music or what?
That reminds me of the shirt that Rktect is wearing in his photo. It says "I may be old but I got to see all the cool bands". That is classic.
I'm 58 years old and I started growing my hair in 1964. Fast forward to 2013 and my hair is still long. I don't give a hoot
about what others think, i'm going to have long hair until the day
I die. Besides at the age of 58 I have a full head of hair,
and by golly i'm going to fully enjoy it at it's full length.
So welcome to the older guys with long hair club.
Thanks! '64 was a good year. It feels right having long hair right now and I'm just me, people are welcome to their opinions whatever they are. Hopefully they won't think that I care, they probably wouldn't have cared for me with short hair either. As the song says, it's my life.
BTW I like your hair.
Thank you.
Hi Phil,
Your hair looks awesome, and congrats for just letting your hair grow out. I think you look really good with it, and I know i'll be keeping my hair long someday when I turn your age. I'm glad you decided to join us. Welcome. :-)
cheers,
rowie
Thanks rowie, you rock. You know Emmy Lou Harris? She's one on the most beautiful women when it comes to rocking gray hair. I thought I was in love with her till I read she shared a birthday with a particularly evil ex-gf. Anyway, I like her hair. :-
Hi Phil,
Congratulations in following your own instincts and deciding to do "your own thing". No-one is too old or too young to embrace long hair. I hope you achieve whatever length you want with your hair and wish you the best of luck in your endeavours.
Cheers,
Duncan
Good to meet you, Phil. Your hair has nice wave and color. Do let it grow to your comfort and desire.
Hi! 55 here and I started growing out my hair about 1972. Another old fart with long graying hair, LOL!
At 58 years old I have lots of grey hair, I intend to keep all
that long grey hair until the day I die.
So if it all works out i'll be in my 90s with long grey hair.
Welcome aboard, Phil!
Good looking hair, and I am honestly and sincerely proud of you, despite not knowing you, for doing what you want, at a bit later age as well!
I sorta always wished my dad would go back to the wild, long hair he sported in the 70´s, but he never did. I think it takes even more courage to do it at a later age in life, and as I said, good for you for doing your thing, man! :)
I might as well join the list here, too, I guess. My name is Steve, Phil, and I will turn 62 this coming August. My hair is about an inch or inch and a half away from my belt-line. My wife was the main one who encouraged me to grow it out, saying that at the age I am now, I sure have the right to go ahead and express who I am the way I choose. I thank God for the ladies in our lives who encourage us to be the men we were meant to be!
Welcome to the board. (And, YES, people our age DID have the best music, bar none!!)
