I need advice. My hair is layered from my last cut. My bangs are significantly shorter than the back of my hair. I've reached a stage where this is really starting to show. My question is: Do I get the back trimmed to match the length of the bangs?
My preference is to leave it alone. I don't want to lose growth and I think I'd look like a girl (not that there's anything wrong with girls).
Let me know what you guys think.
Hi Growlur,
I also started with a layered cut. I have just been letting my hair grow all over with no trims. It seems to be doing well and I am quite happy with it.
If you trim it constantly to make things even, it will take longer to get length. Some people don't want to look like they have a mullet hairstyle. If you just let it grow, it may look somewhat like a mullet for a while. But, at least it will be getting longer. Then when you get to the length you like, you can even up the hemline. For a minute there, I thought you were Eric Clapton! I like the look man. Way cool:) Have a great week my friend!

I would just let it grow.
Let the back hit the shoulders and grow longer. I personally think it looks more graceful than having the back constantly cut.
I would not do a thing, your hair is looking very good, It is getting to a nice length, I like the style on you.

Hey! I've got just the same "style" as you do. The difference is, mine is a bit longer right now. I decided to leave it be the way it is for now. It starts looking better with length. But, maybe, when my front hair reaches the length below shoulders, I'll even everything. Right now my front (and partly sides, like yours) is some santimetres below the jaw, and hair at the back is at the top of shoulderblades.
I can post some photos where the difference is well seen for my current length later.

Heya Growlur!
I don´t think you neccessarily have to begin with a layered hairstyle to end up in the situation you´re in right now. I remember being in the exact same situation before, after having grown my hair out right after being done with the military service, where I had a shaved head for 3 full year, and I expect the same to happen to me this time around.
It only makes sence when the distance from your forhead to your shoulders is alot longer than the one from the back of your head to your shoulders, doesn´t it?
I would just let it grow freely and trim things up when you are at your desired length :)
Looks great btw!
Hi Growlur,
My advice always is to just endure it and let you hair grow until there is enough length that a trim won't look like a major setback to growing you hair long. You can always wear hats, use gels, or other means to contain it until the length is there. So that's my advice for all its worth.lol Good luck my friend:)Cheers

Thanks guys! Good advice. I had a great hair day yesterday. That combined with the advice and support has pushed trims out of my head.

Go with your preference. Just let it be for now. I grew my hair out from a rat tail. I just let it grow and the rat tail eventually vanished. Your hair will balance out in a year or two.
