Take a look at this article:
http://www.menstylefashion.com/hair-styles-long-hair-is-in-for-winter-2012/
I disagree with this article. I believe long hair on men is always in-not just for Winter 2013. Long hair in my opinion has never been and never will be a trend. Nuff said.

I didn't read the article but since that's what it's about then I'm with you Ted.In my case longhair has been in style for the past 25+ years then:)lol.Oh well your going to always have these trend setters trying to lead the pack!Cheers

Oooh, long hair is in, is it? How about I just sprout three years of growth in a week to look "in" for the season.
Stupid article. Suggesting you grow your hair to look good for the current trend when clearly, you'd never have enough time to actualy grow your hair.
Or that we long hairs will look "cool" for a month or so, but will be freaks again soon.
The one redeeming factor of this article is that it does, at least, show some pictures of guys with long hair--some of whom are well-known celebrities--while making the point that it looks good.
On the other hand, it also does portray long hair merely as a temporary fad, and even states that it only suits men with a particular hair type.

Whatever!
I'm sure I would be considered to have gone through fashionable and out the other side!
I'll take the real thing, direct positive (physical) feedback from people I consider attractive.
I left a comment on someone else's comment on that page.
Not a bad article - though a bit outdated. In the urban West, long hair on men has been a slowly increasing influence in mainstream fashion for at least four years now.
In the article's defence, I would mention a few points:
1) The article is talking about MAINSTREAM fashion. It makes absolutely no difference whether a small group of men think long hair has always been in fashion or not. The reality is that it hasn't. Mainstream and small groups are not the same thing.
Hair styles, whether long, short, buzzed, dyed or whatever, ARE ephemeral trends in mainstream fashion - regardless of whether we ourselves have worn our own hair that way for the past fifty years.
2) Fashion, by its nature, is indeed a "temporary fad" in that it doesn't last forever. But "temporary" is relative. It can last for days or it can last for years. Long hair on men was in mainstream fashion during the late 1960s and 1970s - and it lasted for many many years. Plenty of time to grow your hair long and still be in fashion!
3) The article implies that long hair would suit virtually ALL types of hair. It does suggest that "men with fine or thin hair should stick to SLIGHTLY shorter lengths to keep hair from looking too weighed down and flat" (i.e. not much longer than shoulder-length). That seems sensible advice in many cases. Very fine dead-straight hair normally does not look its best at very long lengths. It loses volume.
4) Bear in mind that the article is focused purely on hair as an ATTRACTIVE feature. It has no interest in using hair as a rebel statement or intellectual expression.
Is fashion shallow? Yup!!! Most definitely. But I guess I am shallow too. A primary factor in my decision to grow my own hair long was that I felt it would enhance my appearance. If I thought for one second that having my hair long seriously detracted from my appearance, I'd be off to get it buzzed before you could say "Bruce Willis"!
I am who I am inside regardless of what my hair looks like. Long hair seems to express my personality perfectly and I love it - but I would not keep it if it made me look awful.
