Hi everyone,
I hope everybody's week goes smooth and without hassles! May your manes make great progress! As for me, I'm off to my every other day dialysis treatment this morning. Boring but definitely necessary:) Have a great day everybody and thanks for this board and it's inspiration!
Ted
Thanks, Ted... hope you have a great week, too!
--Val
Hi Val,
Thanks for the the nice words my friend! I do believe we are somewhat responsible for making our lives what we want them to be. Take care.
Ted
Hi Ted,
Thanks for the kind wishes, and good luck on your dialysis!
Here is a typical Monday... Done at work 50 mins ago, still stuck in traffic :P but hey, at least my hair is growing ;)
Have a great week, all of you! :)
Hi Raul,
Thanks for your kind words! Glad to hear you are done with work-hope you got out of the traffic safely! I am on dialysis for the next four hours. Oh well, at least I have the computer to keep me busy when I'm not sleeping:) Take care my friend!
Ted
Mixed outlook, but the bottom line is positive...retraining on equipment I last drove 14 years ago (I need about a 2 day refresher, not a 25 day refresher!)...like a bicycle, you know! So other than being at night, it is going to be an easy month. Heh. The hardest work I'll do this week was yesterday, when I drove one of our historic electric buses for 4 hours (little sore right knee and shoulders) as a volunteer!
Hair is good...maybe I'll get to some S&D, since I'm free during the day.
Hi Trolleypup,
Please excuse my ignorance for the stupid mispost! Glad to hear you will have a good month! Great to hear you are doing volunteer work! Very admirable! Of course your hair is always good! Take care and don't work too hard my friend!
Ted
I hope so too, but we're preparing for a possible blizzard so the next 24 hour will tell whether it's a good week or a bad one.

Hi Dale,
I certainly hope you don't get the blizzard! That sounds like it would not be fun. If you do, may you come through it unscathed my friend! Take care.
Ted
As someone who has alredy been through several Blizzards this
winter i wish you luck. They are not fun. (Especially if you
have to go to work in one.)
Well, it looks like the storm took a track further south and missed dumping the forecasted amount of snow. We woke up this morning to pretty sight of snow covered trees. Hopefully the weight of the ice/snow didn't damage too many.

What a great positive and upbeat post !! Thanks Ted
...and I am having a wonderful week having just returned from over three months in New Jersey. They have a horrible weather phenomena there they call "Wintery Mix" Good Grief, not only is it cold, wet and windy, but everyone has their head covered in beanie hats and hoodies....hard to find longhairs. Sure is good to be back in the desert where we let our hair flow in the warm breezes. Ha !
Happy Day to All !!
Walter
Hi Walter,
Thanks a bunch for the reply! Yes, I guess you are happy to be back in the warmer climes! don't you just love that "wintery mix"! I bet the longhairs are hiding out up there! Gotta protect that hair! Hope your week goes great my friend! Keep up your good work!
Ted
for those not familiar with the term it basically means during
the day you'll have temeratures reaching the 30s/40 but falling to
the teens at night. So when you get a storm it is rain which then
becomes freezing rain and then becomes snow.
So sometimes you go to shovel snow and it is caked with ice on the top or on the bottom. And you can have days where everything
is a sheet of ice. That ice and the winds can bring down trees which in turn can bring down power lines.
Wind/snow/ice can also damage to your hair so often it is necessary to tie your hair in a pony tail/braid/bun or to
wear something to cover your head.
The blizzard they are discussing here is a huge storm going
accross the US of A from Florida to Illinois. Where it is cold enough to snow they'll get blizzard conditions.
Here in New York we are more than ready for spring. Especially
given the high cost of heating oil.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in New Jersey, please come again:)lol
"...Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in New Jersey, please come again:)lol..."
I really did have a wonderful experience...My work was primarily with the Community, County and State elected officials, but I also was able to work with the public and many of Sandy's victims one-on-one....New Jersey folks really do pull together. New Jersey is a beautiful State steeped in history and I was fortunate to spend my off time visiting many wonderful places.....even made it into NYC a few times. I was born and raised on Long Island, but have not been back since 1969....lots of fond childhood memories. My killer driving instincts came right back, along with my accent...Oh gawd ! Ha! Oh and the food ! I gained 15 pounds !! Still lots of work to do, so I may be called back again.
Ha ha,I have pity on you having to deal with NJ elected officials! OMG what a bunch.Don't even want to touch that one;)
However glad you enjoyed some "off time" and got to see some sights.I haven't been to NYC in few months as its too cold for me to walk the streets at the moment.I have to laugh when you mention "killer instincts" as you have to have that to survive this area.Funny I've never been to "ground zero", so to speak, down the shore. Even though I've lived here all my life the Jersey Shore never appealed to me,just wasn't my thing. The fact they charge you to use the beaches during the summer is quite galling btw.Oh well it is what it is but maybe someday I'll get the heck outta here:) Cheers

Thx. Ted. - for ur endless positivity - even when u battle grave health issues - for this I admire you greatly & give you my heart-felt thanks ... kind regards CEM. :0}
Hi CEM,
I'm lovin' those verses! Thanks so much for your very kind words! I made a decision when I was diagnosed with kidney disease that I would fight the good fight and remain positive and encouraged. For their are many more in the world with much more dire circumstances.
With the help of this board and of course my family I will remain upbeat and encouraged. I cannot forget all of my doctors and dialysis technicians who help guide me through this "slight inconvenience" in my life. You guys would not believe how many times I check this board for new posts and update pictures. Since I have been on dialysis I have been having fun growing my hair because I am not working. When I do hopefully go back to work I plan to find a longhair-friendly employer.
So, with that I wish you a very productive week ahead my friend! Always remain positive and things will be fine! Take care!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Thanks for the upbeat post to start the week even though its kind of underway as I write this.Sorry that you have to endure those treatments but I guess you make the best of it I imagine.I see, as I read through the replies, that some of our members are facing a nasty blizzard:(I wish them the best as it looks like I'm just facing some heavy rains.Take care Ted and keep the faith my friend:)Cheers!
Mârk
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the kind words! The dialysis treatments are more boring than anything. At least I can use the computer and they have TVs by the chairs we can watch. Some days are worse than others as far as feeling washed out when I get home. Sometimes it doesn't hit me for a few hours after the treatment is over. Gotta take the good with the bad.
Hopefully you don't get too much rain. I don't like when it floods and people get stuck in low water crossings. May you get just enough rain to freshen things up a bit. Haave a great rest of the week my friend and stay encouraged!
Ted
Best wishes back at ya, Ted - and to everyone else!
I often think of the health issues you, Ian, Justin and other members are going through. I hope the strength of mind and positive attitude in your decision to grow your hair will also prove to help you in your battle for general health.
Party on, dudes!
Damon
-----------------------------------------------
Hi Damon,
Thanks for your nice reply! I really appreciate the well wishes. I sometimes forget that I have kidney disease because I have te disease it doesn't have me. I consider it a bump in the road of my life. Since I don't work anymore I am able to devote more time to things I enjoy. I have come to the point where I look at things a lot differently than I used to. In other words, I have many more "stop and smell the roses" moments. It's almost like I have regained my "child-like wonder". Life is good and always will be-if I have any say-so in the matter!
With that being said, I sincerely hope Ian, Justin and any other members with health or other problems are fighting the good fight! As for me, I am having a blast letting my hair grow and seeing what it looks like along the way. I hope your hair is progressing nicely and you achieve your former length and more! And yes, I will be partying on! And I certainly hope you do too my friend! Take care.
Ted
A great week to you, Ted, and to all of our MLHH brethren.
- Oren
Hi Oren,
Thanks for the reply! I will be sure to have a great week. May your week also be productive and smooth my friend! Take care.
Ted
Hi Ted,
My apologies for a terribly late reply, but thank you for such a kind message. I cannot complain, since the weather has been quite nice, with lots of sunshine, although that will end tomorrow. I am sorry that you are having to go through those treatments, and my best to you, and please look after yourself as well.
Take care,
David
Good Morning David,
Thanks a bunch for your reply! No problem about the late reply! I always enjoy hearing from you. I am happy to hear you are having great weather with lots of sun. Up where you live I think you come to really appreciate mild weather.
As far as the dialysis treatments, they are more boring than anything. I have to sit or lay in the chair for 4 hours 3 times per week. I usually take my computer and they have TVs by the chairs. I also take my Sony Walkman(I'm old school!) with me to listen to. So I stay busy during treatment. I will be sure to look after myself. And I wish you a productive and smooth week as well! You take care of yourself my friend!
Ted
