Hello All,
I've been absent for a bit. That's because I had a professional conference in New Orleans last week. I've spent the better part of this week recovering. I got bronchitis while there and didn't slow down! Got back here and crashed. Anyway, I wanted to share my experience in a rather windy NOLA with my longish hair! The first day I was there it was raining, so that wasn't much fun.
However, as I walked around the French Quarter later in the week with a spring wind blowing, it felt wonderful! I walked through a number of galleries in the Quarter and felt so hip with my hair. Indulge me for a minute if you will...I let it fall down in my face and tucked it behind my ear. One can feel so freakin' cool doing such things in New Orleans. Who knew???
Even better news is that most of my professional colleagues at the conference loved my hair! Oh, a few complained about it, but I just tuned them out!
Thanks for listening!
Tony
Hi Tony,
Long hair is indeed a heck of a lot of fun -- for all of the reasons you just stated, plus I'm sure there are plenty more!
When I was a teen still living in my dad'a house, my brothers and I were not allowed to grow our hair out (not even a teeny tiny bit). This was during the late 1960's (I graduated from high school in '71); so I definitely felt NOT very cool-looking with the forced short haircuts. But once I left home at age 18 and struck out on my own, even growing my hair out "long-ISH" was a hell of a lot of fun to me...
Keep up the good "work" -- your hair is lookin' TERRIFIC!!!

Ken,
You reminded me that my hair made me feel young. I felt connected to younger people whichbwas nice! Ive not felt that in some time!
Tony
Heya Growlur!
I can definitely see the situation you are portraying in my head, about walking around in the rain in New Orleans, feeling like a part of that mysterious, atmosphere filled place with your longish hair... love it! You should have definitely taken some pictures for us, and please do, next time! Would love to see more places in the states besides LA and NY, which are always shown in the media :)
Can´t wait to get to your longish phase myself, and share my experiences with you and the rest of the great people here at the MLHH! Keep on the growing, buddy! :)
Raul,
It was me the vampires the voodoo priestesses and my longish hair! Truly a time to remember. New Orleans is like no other place on earth! Sadly I don't take pics anymore since I cant afford a good camera :-(

Hi Tony,
Nice to hear you were able to go down to New Orleans for work. Sorry to hear of your bout with bronchitis. Hope you are recovering well from that. Must have been nice to walk around the Quarter with your hair flowin' in the wind. Kind of makes you want to keep growing even longer. There will always be the complainers, but I think even they secretly admire our long hair. They just don't want to admit it! Thanks for the update. Have a wonderful weekend my friend!
Ted
Thanks Ted! I'm still growing! Nice weather here tomorrow and I plan to enjoy! Hope you have a great one!
Been there, done that. One of the great things about having long hair is being able to do stuff like that.
I've done that a number of times, in a variety of different configurations. But his was here in New York not New Orleans.
It's long enough that I don't tuck it behind the ear, it just
hangs down. I've done it covering one eye, covering the other eye, and a few times covering both eyss with just a little space
between the hair to see through.
I'm sure new York is even better!
