Hi everybody! :-)
After trying-out a shorter hairstyle, I am now letting all grow for a bit and am at the so-called "dreaded Poof-out" stage. No big deal for any of you established Longhairs for sure, but you would be AMAZED at all of the emails I have received since 2008 from guys so concerned and upset about their hair "poofing-out." Well look at this living Antique! I am not concerned at all. I mean really, what is hair suppose to do at first?
So, to any of you guys out there that have never had anything but a Buzz Cut before in your entire life and are growing your hair out for the first time, please don't be so alarmed. I assure you the world will not end because of this. Hair is suppose to "Poof Out" at first. This is 100% normal.
Photo taken today in a new Coffee Shop at Cannon Beach Or. across the street from where I once had lunch with one of the great moderators here, Walter in the Log Cabin Restaurant. That was truly a most wonderful and memorable day and I still had my very long hair back then.
For those that have expressed concerns over my health, I appreciate and thank you all. You are a great bunch of guys. After almost a year in the high 140lbs weight catagory I have finally reached a weight of 157lbs which is very good news.
Wishing you all a great day and please remember..........don't fret when your hair "Poofs Out." Take care all-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
How great is it seeing you smiling and looking happy and healthy, as well as letting your hair grow out a bit again? Man, this picture really made me happy! :) After hearing about your health problems and struggle to put and keep on weight, I am really glad you are starting to feel better :)
As for the poofing out stage, let me tell you this- you guys with straight hair have it a lot easier during this stage than us with wavy/curly hair. if I´d post of a picture of me after washing my hair and not using any product at all in it, you´d see what a real "mushroom head" looks like, hehe... HUGE fluffy hair! :D
Btw, if you ever decided to get back to posting tips for guys growing out / wishing for / having long hair on the tubes again, I would be exctatic! :)
Have a great start to your weekend, buddy!
You guys are making me laugh over my morning coffee! Poofing out and mushroom heads! I love it!
LOL :-) Isn't it great to laugh. The world needs alot more of this. :-)
Justin~
I agree on this one Justin!
Ted
Thank you ever so much Raul. So thoughtful of you to say. Glad you put in that blurb for the other guys who do not have straight hair. So many times they think that their hair is a failure because it isn't straight. No way at all, in fact, long very Curly hair is a sensational fabulous look. One great thing about long hair that cannot be said about "Haircut Hair:" It ALWAYS will look well. Mother Nature knows best of all. With all good wishes always Raul-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
I must agree with Raul. You are looking absolutely splendid! As a person who goes to dialysis 3 times a week I think I can understand your health situation. I am so happy to hear you have been able to gain weight and are feeling better. I always look forward to your updates and advice.
I must admit that I still think my hair poofs out even I think it probably is just in my head. I have been trying my hardest not to use any products in my hair. I have just been letting it fly wherever it wants to. I was feeling great in the parking lot when my hair was blowing in my face from the wind. It's a great feeling!
I sincerely wish you my prayers and thoughts for continued good health! Thanks for all of your good advice about hair growing! I shall look forward to your future updates anxiously! Please have wonderful and safe weekend my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted :-)
*Oh no Ted and to hear of what you have to go to is just the most horrible thing. A friend of mine is dying of this condition right now. Maybe he will go today. He has been Diabetic for many years.
*I think most people tend to always be their own worst enemies. Your hair photos have always looked great to me! :-)
* And the best of good luck and health to you Ted as well. Many thanks for making such wonderful comments. Very much appreciated indeed. Take care-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Thanks for the nice message and well wishes! I shall put your dear friend in my thoughts and prayers. I will maintain a positive attitude in his or her honor. I am looking forward to getting a kidney transplant one day. I told my wife when I quit working that I was going to let my hair grow long. She told me that was cool and I was happy about that. So there are silver linings in those clouds. I believe it's up to us to find and see them. I own the disease, it is far from owning me. I can assure you of that!
I really appreciate your nice words about my hair. I don't have much yet, but I am pressing on. Should have never cut what I had before. It seems to be filling in nicely in the back now. I just am so curious about how my waves will look at around mid-back length. I sure hope you have a wonderful and safe weekend my friend! The best of everything to you!
Ted
Really looks good. Justin. Actually, You look good. I know well and remember the "Poof Out" stage. Ran through it with aplomb. I am heratened to see you looking so well and enjoying life. You are nearly the same weight as m'self. so the health is good. However the length you have and where your desires lead. It will be good. Hope to actually meet and break bread with you some day. Your a classic.
Jason, aka, Rktect.
Thanks Jason and what a pleasure it would be to break bread with you. Just let me know and I'll even buy (or make) the bread. Take care and have a very wonderful weekend! :-) With much appreciation-

So as not to confuse any new readers, "deaded poof-out" stage is better known as the 'awkward stage'.
You are so right and I have spent my life in a confused state. Well now to be de-confused and thank you for that statement for yes, it IS the beginning of the Awkward Stage.
Best wishes-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Cheers to you, and I am delighted that you are feeling so much better these days, and have been able to gain some weight as well. You are off to a good start on your new hair growing journey, and good luck with your future progress. One of these days, it would be a genuine pleasure to meet both you and Walter.
Take care,
David
Hey David! :-)
Thanks ever so much for the well wishes and yes, it is so wonderful to have gained that weight at long last. (Plenty of eggs and Peanuts I think finally did the trick.) GOOD! Yes what a pleasure to meet but really, the prize of ALL prizes ever to meet is Walter. He has to be about the most intelligent person I have ever met, has a great sense of humor and yet is so humble about himself and all of his countless abilities. Have a nice Weekend David and soon golf will be starting where you are as Summer is getting nearer and nearer.
All the best-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
How great to see you looking so well. You have given so much inspiration to so many of us over the years that you now deserve to enjoy your health, your hair, your music, your life - in fact your "you" time. My very best wishes and respect. Ian
Hi "Ian!"
So kind of you to post and thank you for being so thoughtful as to say what you have. But really, you are of the greatest inspiration yourself and I KNOW must have helped so many without even realizing it. And speaking of inspiration, you Ian have been of the greatest inspiration unlike you could ever believe. Take care and so happy hearing from you. I wish you nothing short of the best from now on Ian and you deserve it! Bye for now-
Justin~
I'm glad that you're doing better, Justin. I'm also glad that you're letting your hair out once more. I feel for you, I'm almost out of the awkward stage, and going through it is something I never want to do again. Keep running strong!
~Never stop growing, friends. Mind, body, and soul.~
-Septet
Thanks Septet and best of luck to you emerging from that awkward stage with the greatest long hair ever. Take care.
Justin~
ps: Awkward Stages never really did bother me. To myself it is just alot of crazy fun! I really enjoy the awkward stages myself. :-)
It's great to see you looking so healthy - healthy weight and great hair. Your "poof-out" stage looks fine to me. How long do you intend to let it grow?
Damon
--------------------------------------
Hi Damon.
My Poof Out stage today is so crazy you wouldn't believe. Ha Ha Ha. It is almost like good chew on an electrical cord. Not sure how long it will get this time, but maybe(???) somewhat the length Raul has right now. With me, you just never know. Take care-
Justin~
As a reply to you, Justin... here is my length at the moment. Haven't really measured it, but I would estimate around 3-3.5" or so? :)
Hey, that's great Raul. I have just about that length right now in the front if I pull it down. Thanks. Not all that much longer for me then. Thank you so much for posting that photo.
All the best-
Justin~
Hi Raul,
I just wanted to tell you that this is a great picture. You always take good pictures my friend!
