This is my current style to contain my "growth" as my mother calls it. (She talks about it like it's some kind of tumor, but I know she's just joking, she's warmed up to it.) I just pull the hair on my crown into a topknot, and the back/sides into a tail. Unfortunately, I'll need a few more months before the bits nearer to my face will reach the back. I've got a fair amount of fly-away on the sides.
Here you can see where I've been cultivating another growth of long hair. It's gotten where I have to bind it when I eat. Also, I've decided to let the mustache grow as well, as I had been trimming it to keep it out of my mouth.
Hope everyone has a short Friday, and a long weekend!

Hi Septet,
Thanks for the great update! I really like the top knot and tail combo. I am way too lazy to do anything like that! I just like to wear my hair down. I just think my hair looks best that way. Your hair color is just fantastic! And your beard is even more awesome! I couldn't grow a beard to save my life! I shall leave that to the follically gifted folks! Please keep it growing and flowing! I send you wishes for a safe and long weekend my friend!
Ted
Your hair is looking really good. I've done both too but either one or the other but not both at the same time. One of the great
things about having long hair is you can experiment with various
different styles.
One word of caution though: when you do a top not type of thing
it's really easy to get the hair tangled. But it is a fun style
to try on a very hot summer day when i'm only wearing cut off shorts and no shirt. (When the temperature hits 100 degrees and the dew point is like 77.)
Oh, yes. It's been odd getting used to it, spatially speaking. It adds about three inches to my height, so I've been bumping it (and in one case CATCHING it... ugh) on things all week long.
In any case, thanks for the compliment.
After many years of experience i'm extremely careful to avoid
anything that could potentially damage the hair.
During the 1980s I had knee length hair and it was very easy to
catch on things. At that point I became extrmeley aware of where my hair was and what hazards were near by. So i would eitehr tie it in a pony tail, braid it, even go as far as to tuck the hair inside my shirt.
The bottom line is takes many years to grow the hair long but
it can take only a split second to take a chunk out of it getting
it caught on various hazards. After all those years I was determined to keep the long hair long so I had to take precautions to keep the length.
Aww, come on Ted. A topknot isn't that hard. Secretly, it's just a ponytail that you don't pull through the fastening device all the way. It takes me about a minute to do both tails, all said. Also, if the flyaways are REALLY bothering me, I pull out my patented "Twintails & Topknot" combo. It looks utterly ridiculous, but damned if it doesn't hold 'em still.
And thank you for the beard compliment.

Yes, but I just really like long hair on both men and women that is just worn down. Also, I think you look better than I would with these styles. I look bad enough with my hair as it is! Please keep it growing my friend! Great weekend to you also!
Ted
Looks good, man... thanks for the update :)

Why do I always forget to resize these damnable pictures? Here, these should be of a more appropriate size:

How cool is that hair? Man, I love your creativity with it! :)
That is actually a solution I usually take when growing my hair out. First only a high top half-ponytail, where your bun is now, then a lower ponytail to gather the rest of the hair. Looks ridiculous, but gets the job done!
Great hair overall, my friend! Keep on growing, and have a great weekend!
Thanks Raul! It's always a bit odd to find that other people do things the same way I do, especially if it feels like I "invented" it. But I suppose it's a normal human aesthetic, born of necessity, and built with the materials at hand. Like the old saying goes, "There's nothing new under the sun."

That's definitely true there! But you can find consolation in the fact that I have NEVER even thought of putting the top ponytail in a bun, perhaps since it usually is really minor in comparison to the lower one, hehe... so you and your curls are still one creative team! :D
I dunno, I just really like the topknot. Maybe I watch too many samurai movies, those guys always have them...
I think once I get enough length it'll become my standard, my signature. It just seems... right, you know? Besides, it solves the "front hair isn't long enough to reach the tail" problem.
Plus, it looks totally awesome.
Know exactly what you mean there... always loved the Samurai spirit and culture, and a high bun (not quite a topknot which sits all the way up on the top of the head) is my most desired hairstyle for the time being :) Those are just awesome!
To be perfectly honest, I'm really looking forward to doing something like this eventually. But that day is a long way off.
Ah, dream hair... why must you be separated from me by the sluggish hands of time?
Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think that is physically possible without some form of stabilizing device.
Any of our longer locked brethren want to ascertain this hairstyle's structural stability?
While i've worn it like that a few times it's not enough times
to really call it my signature. My signature is wearing my hair
down most of the time, and wearing cut off shorts.
Most of the time I wear it down, only wearing it confined in a pony tail, braid, etc. when there is a chance for the hair to get damaged.
Ultimately my signature is having long hair cascading down my back.
Hiya Septet:)
What a cool hairstyle as I really like that one.Looks difficult to do but I'm sure its very simple.Well its nice trying different styles to restrain ones hair as it actually makes you a conversation piece if your OK with that.Anyway thanks for posting your pics as they do look cool my friend:)Cheers
