Hi everybody,
I am posting these pics of my hair at the moment. I was kind of happy with my hair today so took some pics. This is my hair the day after spraying with Argan oil. This morning I washed and conditioned. This is what it looks like.
I am going to make this my last photo update until September of this year. That will be 6 months from now. I will still be posting and replying to posts. I think posting the pics every month is making me watch my hair too much. I also think this is what makes people lose patience when growing. So without further ado:
I also want to wish everyone a long, safe and relaxed weekend. May your manes have good growth and your backs be to the wind.
Ted
Hair is looking good Ted! Another 6 months it's going to be something! I would say you are at the start of semi long length now and another 6 months it will be even better with added length. :)
Hi Mark,
Thanks so much for your kind words! I am really trying to get mid-back length if I can. I must say I am liking my hair more and more each month. You can be assured I will always be visiting your hair progress page for inspiration. You wouldn't believe how often I go to that page! I have it saved as a favorite! Thanks a bunch for that! Have a wonderful weekend my friend! Keep smiling!:)
Ted
I am happy that I can inspire you to grow out your hair. :D Just take good vitamins and get trims (in my opinion it's a good idea to keep splits away) every few months, but just a 1/4 inch on the ends will do it.
With 4.5 years growth and with some trims I still reached mid back with super thick wavy hair!
Hi Mark,
Your hair looks lovely, Mark. I have to watch which vitamins I take. Since I have kidney disease I have to take a special vitamin. For example, too much phosphorous is dangerous for me since the dialysis machine cannot take it all out of my body. I have to watch my diet closely and limit fluid intake etc. But my hair seems to be doing well even with my situation.
I haven't been to get a trim yet because I am trying to get the hair to all one length. Probably when I am solidly below shoulder length, I will have it trimmed. I wanted to ask you, do you have the stylist trim your hair straight across the bottom?
Thanks a bunch for your inspiration my friend! Have a great weekend!
Ted
Oh yeah you def want to be careful with the vitamins my friend and I used to go to a professional for a even trim every few months, but I got a family member to do it for free and use this thing called the Instyler holder which holds your hair in perfect place while somebody trims the ends. Nice money saver and it works for a great trim. I have a U shape in my hair now versus a even line like I did two years ago which actually I prefer now.
Hi Mark,
Do you think the U shape looks better in your hair than the even?
For me I would say the U shape looks better for my hair type. Just have to try what works best for you. :)
Well at least I have plenty of time to think about it!:)
That you do! :) I keep my hair at little past mid back length. The perfect length for me. Any longer would take the fun away for me.
Very interesting to note, Mark! I have heard of people having difficulty with ultra long hair. There's a guy at my dialysis clinic with hair that used to be below waist level. It ended up getting tangled real bad and he had to cut off quite a bit. He told me he's had long hair since high school!
I've had long hair since 1964. In the 80s it was knee length,
I loved the length but it was difficult to maintain. I often had to tie it up to keep it from getting damaged when i went
mountain climbing/bicycling/jogging/etc.
So for me waist length is the perfect length.
Ted your hair looks like it has grown a lot since I last saw your hair updates! It looks wonderful and shiny. Keep up the good work. Yeah I end up doing length shots only once a year because i'd be impatient because I used to do monthly shots. I'm glad it looks like you are settling with a routine. The only routine I have settled with is washing my hair once a week and strictly on Sundays. Only because it is so much more convenient for me at mid back length. I am still adjusting to this and my scalp has been givng me, let's just say lots of dead dry skin flakes.
You are doing a fantastic job. Your hair looks shiny and well cared for. Hopefully I can find a simpler routine and get the results that you get.
cheers and keep it growin' and flowin'!
-rowie
Hi rowie,
You're much too kind! I much appreciate your nice words! I have just been washing with V05 shampoo and conditioner. I have found that my hair can handle frequent washes. So I like how the sulfates tend to straighten my hair. I believe the main thing which is making my hair look nice is the fact that I always final rinse my hair under cold water after washing. I didn't do that last time I grew it and my hair was like a scrub brush in texture. I suspect I may have to adjust this washing schedule with added length.
As for your hair, you are doing a heck of a job! I always look for your updates on the Long hair community as well as here. I wish my hair was still all one color like yours. Mine has white, gray light brown etc. It doesn't know what color to be. But at least it isn't colored or anything. I have been monitoring your growth progress with much interest. I didn't have any trouble finding a simple routine-I am lazy! Thank good ness my hair doesn't seem to mind! Believe me, your routine is doing just fine. Just keep doing what you're doing. Thanks for the inspiration! I wish you a wonderfully long and relaxed weekend my friend!
Ted
Ted, you're really blessed with amazing hair. It's so thick and full of body. It's going to look incredible in 6 months!
Hi Jason,
You are also much too kind! I thank you so much for your nice words! I can tell you one thing. If my hair looks half as good as yours in six months, I will be very happy! I have always admired your hair. I check your blog often because I love the pictures of your hair(and your family). I draw much inspiration from you and thank you for that! I am hoping my hair keeps the waves down the length. Not sure yet though. By the way, at this length what would you guess my hair type is? I am thinking 2a or 2b at least.
I would like to wish a wonderful and long weekend for you and your family. Please take care of yourselves and have fun!
Ted
Looks great, Ted!
It will be nice to see it this September.
- Oren
Hi Oren,
Yes, you're also much too kind! I appreciate the nice comments! I am hoping I get good growth in 6 months. I do think once it gets closer to being all one length it will be a major improvement. I think there are too many layers in my hair yet.
I want to send you wishes for a wonderfully long and relaxed weekend my friend! Take care of yourself!
Ted
Hi Ted,
I have to say your hair looks better than it's ever been as far as I can tell, with great color, texture and length! It seems that from here out, it going to be all about the fun part of the ride for you, my friend, as you are almost done with the awkward stage, and what a glorious mane to show for it! :D
I would never manage waiting 6 months for an update, but I respect you for trying, am already looking forward to seeing the picture! :)
Have a great, relaxing easter, my friend! :)
Hi Raul,
And once again, you are being much too kind! I really appreciate all of your nice comments bud! I surely hope my hair turns out as good as you say! I just don't know what to expect from it. I think my awkward stage is growing out all of these darn layers. I have to let the hair grow to mostly all one length. Then I believe it will look much better. With the layers, everything just pokes out in all different directions.
I probably won't be able to go the whole 6 months without doing a photo update. But we shall see. I think it will be cool to surprise everybody with some noticeable length. I will definitely be checking here often for inspiration though.
I want to send wishes to you and yours for a wonderful, long weekend and a Happy Easter vacation! Hopefully it doesn't go by too fast! Take care of yourselves!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Your hair is progressing very well indees, and has such excellent thickness and condition. I really look forward to seeing how it looks in 6 months time!
Keep it growing,
David
Hi David,
I must say you along with everybody else who replied here are way too kind! I thank you so much for your nice compliments! I am really trying to get my hair to grow quickly. You know, somebody once said "patience is a virtue...". Well, I can see why. I guess I should be happy with what I have going here. My hair seems to be growing pretty well so far. I am also looking forward to the 6 month mark. It should be filled in and getting closer to being all one length. Have to get rid of the layers.
I do want to send wishes to you and yours for a nice long and relaxing weekend! May the weather be fair and the wind at your back my friend! Take care of yourselves!
Ted
God Love You - Ted!!! = cheers CEM. :0}
Hi CEM,
Thanks for the reply! I am definitely going to need the Lord's help with growing my hair! However, I do believe He has blessed me with good hair genes. I shall press on and get it done! Patience will get me through!
I want to send wishes to you and yours for a nice and relaxed long weekend! Hopefully it will go by very slowly! And May God Bless you as well as all of our members here at the MLHH! Take care of yourselves my friend!
Ted
Ted,
You scared me! I thought you were leaving the board. Glad to hear you'll be posting. Wouldn't be the same around here without you. September is a long time away, but we'll try to make it!
Be well,
Tony
Hi Tony,
Not to worry! I have wanted mid-back length hair for as long as I can remember. The longest I have ever had it was just past shoulder. I really appreciate your nice words! I do plan on posting because I can't imagine not having this board. You guys give me such inspiration to grow my hair.
You are not kidding about September being a long way off! Heck, I hope I can make it! I really look forward to surprising you all with a decent mane! I am already enjoying the feeling of my hair moving when I turn my head. Also finally starting to feel the hair fall down in front of my shoulders. This tells me the front layers are starting to lengthen. It's a good feeling. Having much fun on the journey!
I would like to send you and yours wishes for a Happy Easter and a very nice weekend! Take care of yourselves!
Ted
.Hey Ted,
Great length. Awesome Hair.
I'm glad that you're not leaving t haired bro,
he hyperboard. You are a true long haired bro. You've given me inspiration and encouragement to keep growing my hair.
I don't mind your monthly updates, however, if you think that this is the best thing for you to do. . . well, a bro's got to do what a bro's got to do.
I hope that you will post verbal messages and updates.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Hi Raymond,
You are way too kind Raymond! I really appreciate the very nice words! I am so happy to hear I have inspired you. However, you have wonderful hair yourself! I am seriously liking the color and length you have! You truly do look awesome with long hair!
No I am not leaving this board. I have drawn so much inspiration from everyone here and always enjoy going through the pics in the user's directory. I will continue to post messages, but must refrain from posting pics. I need to wait for 6 months so I can surprise you all with some decent progress.
I want to send wishes to you and yours for a long and relaxed weekend! May your mane contimue to grow at a good pace! Take care of yourselves!
Ted
Hi Ted,
As usual your hair looks great so your hair care routine appears to be working well:) That's good because a lot of longhair newbies have no clue how to care for longer hair and ultimately make some bad mistakes causing setbacks in their journeys.Obviously you've done your homework as its paying off to date. You'll be rewarded with a glorious mane as the months click by and I'm going to look forward to your September update for sure! It's going to be a stark difference from this current pic;)Until then we'll look forward to you participation on the board my friend:)Cheers
Mârk
Hello Mark,
Much appreciation for your nice reply! I really appreciate your kind words! I have been trying to learn how to treat my hair properly at this length so I will be used to the routine when it gets longer. I want to avoid tangles and breakage of the hair.
Yes, I believe by September there will be a noticeable difference to the length. I can't wait to post a progress pic then. I am just going to try not to pay attention to the slow growth.. I think that's what makes people get impatient and end up cutting. I am happy though because my hair seems to be filling in across the back. The layers are slowly but surely growing back. I want to see what it will look like all one length. Think it will look just fine.
I want to send wishes to you and yours for a wonderful long and relaxed rest of the weekend! Thanks again for the nice words my friend! Thanks for the inspiration also! Take care!
Ted
---------------------
Your hair is growing out well, Ted. At your current length, even updating every 2 or 3 months is not excessive. There will be a dramatic difference in 3 months compared to your current length. I may try Argan oil.
Scott
Hi Scott,
You are much too kind! I am trying my best to get some noticeable length. I do believe there will be a nice difference after 6 months of growth. I just can't wait to feel my hair tickling my back. I have drawn much inspiration from you and the other members here. I shall press on and get it done once and for all. I only use the Argan oil sometimes right now. When I get more length, I will probably use it more often. It does make the hair feel soft.
May you and yours have a productive and enjoyable week! Thanks to you and the other moderators for keeping this board going! I really enjoy visiting every day for inspiration. Take care of yourselves!
Ted
Your hair looks great Ted! How long have you been growing it for?? and by the way, great idea taking a break from watching the progress... I don't like to watch it too much either. Time can really go slow when you're always checking up on it. I like to check up on it every 2 or 3 months and then I leave it alone :) Hope you're having a good start to your week. Take it easy!
Hi DP Moonchild,
Many apologies for the seriously late reply! I didn't realize you had responded to my post! I have only been growing my hair since about August 2012. I had grown it just past my shoulders when I cut it in 2011. I really appreciate your nice comments about my hair. I will be very happy with it at mid-back length. I must say your hair looks fantastic! You are doing a great job my friend! I sincerely hope you and yours have a great weekend and Happy Easter!
Here's a pic of my hair in 2011 before I cut it.
Lookin' good, sir! Don't make us wait TOO long for another update :)
--Val
Hello Val,
You're too kind my friend! Sorry for the delayed response. I had a rough day at dialysis yesterday so couldn't reply. When I get to mid-back then I will think it's looking good. You know I'll probably give in before 6 months! I am going to try not to! Maybe I will post a photo with only the top of my hair visible! I must say that I am getting more and more satisfied with the way my hair is turning out. I am in it for the duration, as they say.
Many wishes to you and your family for a great and productive week my friend! Please take of yourselves and your hair!
Ted
