I did not know there were any long haired males anymore, let alone a whole club of you!!! You guys at MLHHB rock. You have mine and my girlfriends admiration. I thought all guys were brainwashed by the media into shaving your heads.....ahahaha. Believe me, most girls prefer long hair on guys. The media lies and is biased to sell another image of what a male should look like. Write me if you like, I love you all. Keep growing it out. JANNETTE C.
Welcome aboard, Jannette! Great to have you here :)
Sure is nice having a place with other like minded individuals who like being a tad different. Individuality and self acceptance is what life is all about :)
Thanks for letting me lurk here, this is really fascinating. I told my college advisor I want to do aresearch paper on this subject of men being subjected to discrimination in western society due to hair lenght. I have the green light, so I will let you all know when it is published. I can wear a crew cut, or I can have hair to my knees and its perfecly acceptable. What will it take for men to have the same acceptance with their hair??? Why is it like this???? It makes NO sense what so ever. Even Gay people have earned acceptance. Not the male with his hair lengrth. Talk to you later, Jannete.
i'm 58 years old and i'm still at a loss to explain why.
Women can wear their hair long or short, men are only
supposed to wear their hair short.
It' the same with clothes, women can wear a skirt or pants. But the public in the US of A is not accepting of men wearing skirts.
Haha well put. Unless the man is at a festival or in Scotland, then he can wear a kilt!
But you right, wearing a skirt , or long hair, or heaven forbid BOTH, could actually get the man SHOT, or assaulted depending on where his location is at the time
Please do let us know how it turns out. Sounds like it could be quite interesting reading.
Frodo
Do you work at Speedway?
No, I am a graduate student at the university of santa cruz. I am going to actually do a research paper regarding men and their hair lengths and societys norms etc. mlhhb gave me sum great ideas. Thanks everyone at mlhhb. Jannette
I wrote this url down for some chick at a gas station who complimented my hair.
One night I came in with a ponytail, she thought I'd cut it and about freaked out.
Ahaha great story. Yes that would freak me out alsi as a male with long hair as god intended, is about as rare as a white buffalo.
I live in Santa Cruz County - even have a UCSC library card but am UC Berkeley alumnus. Most long hairs here seem to be in the skateboard culture. No discrimination here that I can detect, but this is an abnormally tolerant region. Especially with a motto like, "Keep Santa Cruz weird!" If you do your research here, it may not be representative of the society at large :^)
I totally agree with that. Santa Cruz and Bezerkly are definately exceptions to the rule. As Jim Morrison said, the WEST IS THE BEST, GET HERE, WE WILL DO THE REST.
Thanks Jannette!
Yes we are out here. Nice to have you onboard!
peace,
jonalbear
Hi Jannette,
I am not what I consider to be long-haired yet. But I do aspire to be one day! Many kudos to you and your girlfriend for your support of the long-haired man. We seem to be hard to find. There is a lot of nonsense in the mainstream media. They usually only broadcast what they think we should know. I do my own research.
Thanks again for your very nice words! I hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter! Take care of yourselves!
Ted
Hi Ted! You rock, post sum pics as it grows, and may it grow long. Jan
Not certain I quaify as a hunk. However, it's good to know you, Jeanette C.
I have had long hair since the mid 1960s. Have noticed that alarge contingent of females have always appreciated this aspect of maleness. You are correct in the media complicity regarding fashion and What "look" people aspire to. Welcome to MLHH.
Welcome to our little enclave, Jannette!
Thanks for the kind words. It's always nice to connect with others not under the spell of the commercial mass media.

I definetly don't qualify. At 5'8" and 160 pounds i'm no where near hunk, my build is too slight, i'm too short,
but I do have long hair which i've had since 1964.
BTW, I just got back from our civil war group state encampment.
I was noticing this year that may hair is longer than
every woman in women's allied orders. Every woman.
I dont know why, but no matter what size a guy is, if he has long hair he looks like a HUNK, IN MHO, and the opinion of many GFF. ON THE other hand, a guy could be 6'6 and lean and look like a total geekorama if he has a jar head haircut! Bravo on your hair being longer than the womens! Extra points for that
Thank you.
In 2001 I met a lady online who was attracted by my long hair and beard. We discovered that we had much more in common than my long hair and we got married two tears later. Later came our two boys...
Regarding being a hunk, whales would consider me as one of them:-)

A Linux Longhair
Hi Linux Longhair,
Just wanted to send belated congratulations to you and your wife. This is a wonderful story and happy to hear it. My wife also likes me growing my hair out. Please take care of your hair and your family!
Ted
P.S. Jannette, apologies for this interjection!
Welcome to MLHH, Jannette!
I see you are in Santa Cruz, California, where long haired males are quite common but an exception to the USA as a whole. The story is a bit different in Western Europe, certainly here in the urban UK where I live. Long hair has become THE in fashion here over the past few years. It's all the rage and long haired males are now so common that I just blend in. In fact, it's kinda upsetting in a way: I no longer stand out as different and individual!

Jannette, thanks for your comments. Yeah, we are definitely out there. Although some in more places than others. My wife, son, and I live in Oklahoma City and, while there are longhairs here, they're not prevalent or anything. I, for one, and 61 years of age and am enjoying a full head of hair very much. I have the attitude that if people don't care for what my hair looks like, hey, I didn't grow it for them, anyway.
Thanks again for posting.
Steve
I'm 58 yesrs old and my attitude is if you don't like my hair then tough potatoes. It's my hair, i'll wear it as long as I want to for as many years as I want to. My plan is to keep it long until the day I die. After it is my hair, my life.
