I mean, other than what's obvious to the naked eye. Jannette's post made me think about what we share here at the MLHH that makes us so willing to do what we want despite what the rest of the world thinks (about our hair or other things). The reason we have long hair despite all the pressure. We must have certain attributes in common while being different in other ways.
I'm going to make a request that might seem a little tedious to some. I don't know if this has ever been done here (not that I can recall since 2001). I've been doing a lot of personal discovery with this and I think it's great. I would love for you guys to take the following test (might take just over 10 minutes) and post your results. Besides being an interesting thing to see others' results, getting your own might help you discover really good things about yourself that can be used in your life. If you can get other people in your life to take it as well, it could also help you understand each other better and improve your relationships.
Personality Test
My result is INFJ (it's the rarest type, I wonder how many we'll get).
Didn't do this test but did similar in the past and my type is ISTJ.
Let's see if we can find a pattern.
----------------------------------
I am borderline between ENTP and INTP.
Scott
Easy to fall into self-deception. But all right.
The test says I might be either INTJ or INFJ. I think, I'm really quite close to INTJ, but not in all aspects. Although I do have some small elements from INFJ.
I am borderline between INTJ and INTP. Other tests in the past showed me mostly as an INTJ.

A Linux Longhair
My type is INFJ, I have done a similar test before and came out with the same result. I find this stuff fascinating.
That's an interesting (or a bad) test. After having grown up, I've noticed that my type is ambiguous for all.
My results came out as borderline between Extrovert and Introvert, and borderline between Intuitive and Sensor, so I could be an ESTJ, ISTJ, ENTJ or INTJ. Nothing new. I've rarely fit into anyone's pigeonhole.
Didn't really agree with some of the choices on the test. Some of the qualities that they put on opposite ends of a given list I don't see as opposing each other.
Ah well, it was amusing, anyway.
Frodo
Yeah, to me the questions felt new-agey, and not in the groovy sense. Put another way, they didn't make much sense. When I did the first page and then saw there was another page, I bailed. I have zero tolerance for surveys that show you questions and then want you to answer even more. I say, show me the questions all at once. I mean, really, like everybody else since 1995, I have a browser with a scroll bar.
Bill
Very interesting test. It said I am either ESFJ or ENFJ. It said that I have styles from both types. I do, however, agree with what Frodo said about the test.
Ted
It seems I'm on the borderline between ISFJ, ISTJ, INTJ and
INFJ. Like most people around me nobody seems to know exactly
what to make of me!
I agree with Frodo. With a lot of the traits I didn't feel like I only had only one or the other so I spent a lot of time clicking the button in the middle and rarely ever clicked one that was all the way to one side or the other.
But I ended up getting the same result that I always get on these tests: INFP. Which I agree with for the most part.
Things like this can be vague but still interesting and fascinating - kind of like astrology.
Mine is ENTP.
I'd like to thank everyone who took or will take part in this. Based on the results so far and not surprisingly (I expected this), I'm happy to report that:
(Keep in mind this is by no means statistically significant and has no value as a serious study...nevertheless)
We are an unusual group of people. lol
We have an extremely unusual composition. Aside from Vincent(and a couple of borderlines) we have I'm guessing a 5 to 1 proportion of preference for Intuitive as opposed to Sensing (the proportion is normally 70:30 in favor of Sensing)
INFJ and INTJ are the withing the 3 rarest types (1%- 3 and 2%- 4% of the population respectively), yet we have had 5 out of 10 people report to be INFJ, INTJ, or some kind of borderline including one of those. That is very interesting.
We are an introverted bunch. We have a lot more introverts than you normally have (I guess that was to be expected as well)
As I said, this is by no means statistically significant. I suspect the types I reported above are a lot more likely to be interested in taking the test in the first place. Even if that is the case I'm sure we would see this same trend repeat itself (maybe with less dramatic results.
I would like to thank those who posted their results, or those who tried to take the test and it just didn't do what you expected for you (Bill, I agree, they should put all in one page, they often do that around the web so you'll have to click again, load another page and get another advertising hit, it's annoying). Downward and onward (I'm stealing this from someone)!
Thanks for the feedback summary Giacco. It is interesting.

I think this is a great project, and the results you have found make it clear that we longhairs are a special group of people.
However, am I the only person who found it hard to answer a lot of the questions? For many choices, my real answer was not one or the other to a greater or lesser extent, but both or neither.
I'm glad you liked it. The results are indeed remarkable, although not surprising. We are a special bunch.
You're not the only one who found some questions tough. Sometimes you might have different answers at different times or just not a very clear preference in some cases. The test is meant to spot trends in order to establish your Cognitive Functions. Everyone finds some questions to be difficult, however different people find different questions difficult. The test will collect enough information on someone despite the missing information most of the time. IN some cases the results might be inconclusive, but you still get a general idea. If you really want to narrow it down, you can use other tests to find out the information that couldn't be determined by the first one. In a more professional setting Cognitive Functions end up having a larger role. Sometimes CFs will find out that you were slightly mistyped. Despite this fact, the general temperament is accurate over 90% of the time when answering tests like the truity version as long as you do it truthfully.
Thanks for explaining the test - I came out of it as ENFP
ISFJ/ISTJ
I am somewhere between ISFJ / INFJ.
Many of the so called opposite characteristics i could equally answer too, so i often opted for the "sometimes" option.
One example is Tough - Sensitive. I think there are many sensitive people who are also tough. I am both of these characteristics.
I don't take these tests too seriously as the variables for answers are often inflexible and narrow in scope.
But without a doubt I am an Introvert and the ISFJ / INFJ is fairly accurate.
Also another factor the test doesn't take into account is whether the person answering the questions is retired or working. People who are retired are less likely to follow a schedule and of course would generally put play before work.
The results of the test for a lot of the members here doesn't surprise me in the least as I always thought the majority of regular poster on the Board here were Introverted.
Also many of the guys here grow their hair long as an intuitive instinct rather then what society wants.
Cheers,
Duncan
i'm 58 years old and for the last 49 years i've always strived to do wear the clothes and the hair that i've wanted to wear not
what others thought I should wear.
I tried to do the survey you posted but the answers seemed to come out to arbitrary. (i.e. the answers today would be different than
the answers tomorrow.) Anyone else notice this?
I scored in a borderline category that is either ENTJ or ENTP. Given this circumstance, it's safest to assume I am just ENTertaining, ha.
Borderline ENTP / ENFP

ENFP. Yeah, I agree.
Hey Giacco,
My test results are:
ENFJ / ENFP
BTW, Are you on fb? If so, I would like to add you. You can email me at:
john.hagg@yahoo.com :)
Introvert, Intuitive, an even split of Feeler and Thinker, and Perceiver. which describes me pretty well.
I've known and been told the introvert part since i was in kindergarten, and intuitive is just obvious to me. Perciever I think may be off, but I don't know the alternate to perciever so I can't say for certain.
The even split of thinker and feeler makes perfect sense to me though. I'm logical and scientific (as those of you who have me on facebook know all too well :p) yet tend to think with my emotions constantly... but still in a logical way. For example: I try to help people as much as possible and end up tieing my feelings to theirs, but when I am trying to help, even with things that directly affect me, I can always completely take my own emotions out of the picture and asses the situation as a third party (ie. I am the friendzone).
I love psychology, and though tests like these are always flawed, I love taking them just to see what i happen to come up with. It was a fun little experiment.
Peace and love,
Billy
My personality type is INTJ: the mastermind.
