Hi everyone, some of you might remember me from a few months ago. As I stated on my first post I live in Greece and its pretty hard to sustain yourself in the current economy we are living in. I've had some people making me offers to buy my hair, I did that once before but I wanted to keep my hair long and to be honest don't want to sell my hair but desperate times sometimes call for desperate measures. What would you do if you were on my situation. Would selling my hair be the best option?
Every opinion is widely appreciated! =)
I am not for sale and neither would my hair be so, it is just as much a part of me as my arms or legs. They are not for sale either.
IMHO you'd have to put this perspective. Ordinarilly my hair would not be for sale at any price. But then if I were unemployed and desperately had to find a way to feed my family
I may reluctantly consider it.
While my hair is as much a part of me as an arm or leg, it should also be noted that desparate times call for desperate measures.
While I detest the idea of cutting long hair it should be
noted that some countries, like Greece, are in very severe
economic times. They've gone through severe austerity measures
including massive cuts in aid to those who need it the most. And some of those cuts have led to massive protests from citizens. So in this case you have to put this the proper perspective.
I would not cut my hair, but then I also would not cut off
aid to those citizens who are on the brink of starving to death.
Hi Skyler,
I am dismayed to hear you might have to sell your hair. I cut mine at 14" a few years ago and now am trying like crazy to get it to mid-back length. However, your hair, your decision. I hope you can find a way to keep your hair long. This is probably not the best place to inquire about willful hair cutting-desperate or otherwise:)

I'd never sell my hair... maybe donate it for a good cause. I suggest getting a job as a waiter/server and work the tourists from the U.S. to make some awesome money via T.I.P.S...

I'd never sell my hair either but I think you're missing the main point here.
The economy in Greece is very close to a depression. Unemployment is 26%, if you're under the age of 25, the unemployment rate is a staggering 57%. So it's a case of desperate times call for desperate measures.
Now I can say i'd never sell my hair but if I lived in the
depression in Greece in 2013 I might well have decided otherwise,
especially if you've got hungry kids in your house
who desperately need food.
Remember with this massive unemployment comes massive budget cuts
that crush the people who need aid the most. Hence the riots
in various nations across Europe.
I wouldn't sell my hair for any reason - unless (with a big maybe) I would get enough money for it to sustain me for the time it takes to grow it back.
Many years ago, when I was in college, I took an offer from my parents - a sizable amount for someone like me in exchange of cutting my hair. I still remember the feeling of loss and frustration that lasted for months after that, and I wowed to never do it again. I had my hair cut short only twice after that when I was drafted into the military.

I'd resort to doing barter instead if money is a problem. Greek people are known to be brilliant, enterprising, artistic, talented and resourceful folks I've found when crises arise. I remember reading about the fairly recent potato project and the success that was.
