Good morning everyobdy!
As you know, I have decided to grow my hair long again back last winter, so my last haircut has been November 27th 2012. That would make my hair almost 5 months old now, and I can finally start to see some progress! :)
I am not completely sure if it´s the length and weight of my hair which makes it more managable, or perhaps the new Argan Oil enriching Hairmask I have started applying to my hair a couple times a week, but either way... I can definitely feel a change.
I can now part my hair on the side, and for the first time in a very long time just let it try with nothing more in it than some Argan Oil in it (oil form, in addiction to the hairmask after having dried my hair). The next morning, the hair is actually still laying mostly in it´s original place, only the curls behind the ears and on the back on the head going exactly where they want to (which means anywhere besides the "right" direction, hehe).
My hair is aobut 3 inches long now, which is a pretty allright growth rate for 5 months. Started with half an inch on top, and less than that on the sides and back of the head, so I´m happy with that :)
Do you remember when you first grew your hair out, when was the stage you begun feeling the change starting to happen? =)
Hi Raul
Isn't it amazing what a mere 3" means when growing out your hair? Very impressive. Every single inch of the way really adds up "big time."
Looks to me like you are extremely lucky to have the hair-type that you do which will be easy to work with compared to what alot of guys have to cope with in the growing out process.
Your hair is looking great Raul and definately hang in there and as best as possible enjoy the ride as the hair grows longer and longer. I cannot remember the 1st time for myself for I was very young once (LOL), but, I DO know that whatever my hair did (that some guys would go balastic over) I just would laugh at and keep on going. I enjoyed ever minute of the so-called "Awkward Stage." :-)
The hair eventually all settles-in and looks great. I know of not one single case of anyone so far that has made it to long hair that has said: "I am so sorry I did this." But, I do know of and hear of all the time: "I never should have cut."
All the best-
Justin~
Heya Justin!
First off, I have to once again recommend you for your great positive attitude towards hair growth, and life in genral, and I implore you again to keep adding new videos to your youtube channgel about hair again, as I absolutely love those, and would definitely say they helped me decide to grow my hair again :)
Second, thanks for the kind words regarding my hair. Not always so very sure I am so lucky as you describe, but it definitely could've been worse, that much I acknowledge ;)
Keep on being the great person that you are, Justin... and nothing but good health to you :)
Hi Raul,
This is a great pic of you! Your hair is definitely growing well and at a good pace. I think it could be a combination of the weight and the Argan oil which is making your hair manageable. That Argan oil is good stuff. Keep doing what you're doing and you shall be rewarded! I really like your ear gauges-they remind me of the state of Texas. Texas is the Lone Star state. Please keep growing your wonderful hair and I look forward to your next update! Have a great week my friend!
Ted
Thank you so much for the kind words, buddy!
Yeah, the lone star state is a place I absolutely would LOVE to visit some day! The whole states as a whole, but especially places I've only read about or seen in movies, like NYC, Miami, Texas, Vegas, Califorina and much much more... man, one day :)
My hair is definitely getting some weight to it, and it's a great feeling! I remember quite well that no matter how puffy it might be now, the longer it gets, the straighter it looks, at least on top ;)
Thanks again!
Congrats Raul! It happened like that for me too. I woke up one morning and took my shower, and when I stepped out I was all, "Where did all this borking hair come from!?" Wait until you are eating and get some in your mouth. That happened to me a couple of days ago. I thought it was my moustache, but nope, it was my mane. It was great, if a little disgusting.
Keep the faith, brother!
Thanks Septet, I definitely look forward to the first time (again) my hair will be in my eyes, then in my mouth! hehe..
Right now, the closest to a "WOW moment" I've gotten, is the fact that I was about to change my tunnel (gauged ears) and suddently I realize I have a curl sticking right through my hear to the front of the ear... cool! ;)

Hi Raul = handsome pic. ! ( may I say ) = from now on in, you will notice changes, month to month: ( especially every 6 month intervals: ( when you compare old fotos ) & when people haven't seen you for a while & they exclaim 'f%@k' your hairs grown !!! - revel in each new stage / phase, no matter how small - its all part of the fun, of the ever-changing beast ... cheers Cem. :))
Thanks CEM, that's some great, positive advice right there! Will defeinitely keep it in mind each time I am frustrated over the mop on my head on the bad hair days, hehe
Raul,
The hair is looking great. There is definitely a difference from your last post. The beard looks great!
Tony
Thanks for the compliments, Tony!
I know it's not much of a difference, but I measured my hair and it's definitely 3" long now, in under 6 months, so I'm pretty happy with the progress so far! :)
Can't wait to see more pictures of your hair as well!
Hey! I can already imagine you with long flawless hair parted to the side . It would suit really cool on you.
One question that I have, how do you use argan oil? You just apply it over dry hair and thats it ? Or what steps do you follow?
Regarding your question, I decided not to cut my hair in March 2012 and started to feel comfortable with the way my hair looked back in November 2012.
From May to October or November my hair was messy, poofy, unmaneagable. Right now I think the WORST part is over and now I am starting to enjoy it although is not super long. And I know there is more to come. So yay!!
Heya Dave!
Thanks for the compliments!
I think that this time around I will try to allow my hair to grow as naturally as possible and not mess too much with straightening it all the time, I am almost done with the period you described as tough, though I know mine usually comes after the 7 mont mark and down the road... having wavy hair makes the awkward stage much longer, I reckon ;)
As for the argan oil, I actually usually get out of the shower, carefully towel dry my hair (will stop that after it's gotten longer) then use my bristle boar brush (again, I know it's wet hair, but I am extremely careful with it) to part my hair and make it lay in a nice direction (opposing to upwards, as it usually wants to), and apply a drop or two of argan oil on top of it, trying to only place it ON the hair and not on the scalp.
Works for me! :)
Raul,
Cool that you are finally seeing some progress on your length. Will look awesome when it touches the shoulders and beyond. i remember really thinking I was making progress when the "wings started forming and began the "awkward stage".--Like your pentagram earring! Onward and Downward!
peace,
jonalbear
Thanks for the kind words, jonal!
Yeah, it seems most people count that moment when the so called 'wings' start developing, as the moment it really hit them- long(ish) hair! YAY :P
My plugs in the picture are actually just plain stars, though I do have some pentagram plugs at home somewhere as well! Thanks to the great people at www.bodyartforms.com, I have tons of jewerly to choose from, and the delivery from Tulsa to Norway is surprisingly quick and effective :)
Raul,
Thanks for the link to bodyartforms.com---Will check them out.
peace,

Hi Raul,
Congrats on doing so well on your first 5 months of growing! Your hair is looking very good indeed, and I look forward to your future progress! Keep up the good work.
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks a alot, Dave!
5 months in 3 days, and it's really fun to realize that soon it's been a whole half a year since my last haircut... soon it's been 180+ days of no haircuts... I can really make it this time around, I feel! :D
Hey Raul,
Nice length and beard!
Hey Kris!
Thanks for the compliments! :)
I have to admit that the initial beard I started growing a couple months back, I got tired of and in a moment of madness, shaved it ALL off around 2-3 weeks ago. My girlfriend was so mad at me that I promised to let this baby grow as it will, at least for a few good months ;)
I can only hope she falls for my long locks as she did for my beard, hehe.
Man, your hair always looks good. I can't do crap with mine until it's about 8-9 inches long. That beard really works for you too! To answer your question though as someone who has gone through the awkward stage a couple times, I always start noticing the change when my hair starts poking me in the eyeball. It seems that for me, that is when I mentally start accepting that it will get there and also when i start loving my hair. Even with all the hassles of that stage of growth.
Also, I have got to get a hold of some argan oil. I never tried any oils in the past, but I won't know how my hair reacts until I try right?
Hey Siege!
Thanks for your warm compliments, my friend!
I do have to admit that the pictures I am posting here are often when I feel I have a "good hair day" and it looks representable. I definitely have days when the puffiness and volume take over, and I look like bozo the clown... so trust me, it doesn't always look good :P
I can definitely advise you to try argan oil, as I've gotten great results myself, as well as my sister, mother and girlfriend all using it and loving in their long hair... different hair types, and yet- all satisfied with the effects of the oil- something must be working :)
Thanks again for the input!
Hey Raul! It's great to see your update again. Your hair looks really, really good! I can hardly call it an awkward stage as it looks well-kept and neat. Yeah, your hair will surely look great when it's longer. And your beard!..
Well, you know that my hair type is different pretty much, so my experience is also going to be different. My hair looked neat (like a medium-length hairstyle) till the 7th month approximately (I started from a buzz-cut). Then the changes started to reveal themselves.
The greatest problem for me was the front hair (bangs). I think, my hair is fine, but pretty much unmanagable when it comes to styling - I couldn't slick my hair back (even with strong gel), so I had to mend my bangs all the time at that period till I could tuck them behind my ears. Nah, nasty but fun experience :)
The worst and hardest period for me was between 7th to 11-12 months.
Thanks for your update again, and good luck on your hairgrowth path! :)
Serge.
Hey Sergei! =)
Спасибо тебе, мой друг, or thank you, my friend! ;)
Yeah, your fine, straight hair sure would be much easier than mine to tackle during the awkward stage, and definitely afterwards also! The only lucky part about having wavy, thick hair, is that it can be tucked behind the ears pretty much from the start, so I don't really need to use any bobby-pins or anything as of yet.
Problem really begins when it gets to be longer, and it's almost completely straight on top, and extremely curly at the bottom! I am still considering carefully straightening the bottom a couple times a week, using a heat protecting serum/spray, but I will have to reconsider that when the time comes in a year or so.
Here's what I mean, just to make you realize just how lucky you are with your sandy, straight fine hair! ;)
