Forgive me for spamming the board with more pictures. It's just that I did a comparison of how my halfup braid looks now compared to the horrendous photo shown in my thread below from last year. I'm quite pleased with how the hemline looks even with some of the hair up in a braid.
LOL, I'm a bit under the weather with allergies and can't do my normal activities so I've refocused on my hair as an outlet. That aside, it's been a while since I've been excited about it. There are no guarantees with hair as fine as mine that I'll actually be able to grow it longer and still have the ends look good but I feel like at least there's a possibility and that makes it interesting.
I'm not one to do things in half measures and I was genuinely disappointed when I wasn't able to reach my initial growing goals. I'm going to give it one more shot and see where I get.
I'll do my best to not inflict too many photos on the community!
WOW !!! - is all I can say = a perfect example of length & quality can go hand in hand - now I'm inspired !!! - thx. for returning da favour ... hehehe cheers CEM :))
Haha, thanks, I'm glad I can serve as a source of inspiration. Have you reached your length goal or are you still going for more length?
Heya Jason - been away: ( on the farm ) - goal length is 'past-da-butt' - but generally goin' with the flow of it - all I do is 'no-trim' & once weekly washes - bordering on benign neglect really - prime objective now is max. length in min. time ... cheers bud ! CEM. :))
Color me green with envy. Your hair looks freakin amazing in those pics and the half braid is a really cool style for you.
It's a versatile style that gives the benefits of enjoying hair loose but still out of one's face. I definitely recommend it.
Thank you!
Holy potatoes, Batman- it´s Legolas! :o
Jason, my friend.. .you hair looks stupendously magnificent, and is pretty much the perfect long hair! Love the length, texture, and that half braid really is the topping on the cake! Marvelous hair there, and truly awe-inspiring! :)
On a side note, I hope your allergies clear soon, and that you will start taking your medicide and will be able to get back to cycling ASAP, I know you miss it! With that said, I am glad you have a bit more time for your hair and your updates, and no, please don´t "spare" us from your pictures... let them flow!
Great update, buddy! :)
Aw, shucks, Raul thanks for all the compliments and kind words. I'm glad the photos aren't considered too much. It's going to be so cool to see your hair in similar styles as it lengthens.
I went back to the doctor today and I'm on a new round of antibiotics. At least the chest X-rays came back negative and I don't have pneumonia. It's nice to have long hair as a fall back hobby for when I'm less involved in other pursuits.
Thanks again!
Hey, it comes from the heart! hehe... and it will be a pleasure being able to demonstrate similiar hairstyles and reffer to Jason and his blog who inspired me way back in late 2012.... good times, brother! :)
Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better and even more importantly, narrowly escaped pneumonia! That stuff ain´t fun, I would know. Had a battle with a type B pneumonia a couple years back that really kicked my ass for about 7-8 weeks. Definitely not suggested to experience, even if it´s not life threatening anymore these days.
Have a good one, bro! And do post some pics of kiddo and his golden curls as well if you feel comfortable with that! He sure is one heck of a cute kid, and it´s great seeing his following in daddy´s long haired footsteps! ;)
That sounds like an awful ordeal you had with pneumonia. I had once quite a few years ago and was laid up for about a month.
Thanks about my blog. It's definitely cool to know that it served as a source of inspiration. I know that I devoured others' progress photos as I was growing my hair out.
I'll have to take some hair photos of my son when he's feeling better. He's been having a battle with constant ear infections.
Looking good as always, Jason. I really like that half tail/braid look. Wish I could do it, but my hair is too thin and fine to pull it off. Also, this desert rat is back in your part of the country where the humidity turns my hair into an uncontrollable ball of frizz......sigh
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Hey thanks, Walter. I wish I could wear that style more but it's definitely enjoyable when I do. I long for some nice dry desert air myself free from allergens!
Hi Jason,
Hey no problem with the extra update as its been so long since you have done many anyway. That braid looks fantastic as its nice to see you still have a lot of loose hair volume even after using some of it to make the braid:)I think your hair is looking great and if you can get more length, just icing on the cake:)Hope your week goes well as my vacation is over and its back to the grind here.Cheers
Mârk
Yeah, the halftail gives the best of both worlds IMO. It sheds light on the condition of one's length too because there is less hair to hide any damage.
It sounds like you had a good vacation. Speaking of which, I need one!
Thanks for your comment my friend.
Your hair looks super, Jason. You should be good for at least another 6".
Scott
I hope so, Scott! Thank you!
Hi Jason,
You can never be considered to be "spamming" the board, and it is a genuine pleasure seeing you so excited once again about your hair, with its current healthy ends and condition.
This halftail braid looks awesome, and a big contrast from a year ago.
That yard looks so familiar, and who know, one of these days, I might get down your way once again.
Take care,
David
Hi David,
I'm glad to not be perceived as overdoing the pictures! As the years go by our long hair just is part of us and there's not that sense of wonder and excitement like when it was first growing it. I admit that's it's cool to be able to shoot for something new at this stage of things.
We'd love to have you visit again David and if you do, we'll have to make use of the yard for some group hair photos for sure!
Thanks and take care too,
Jason
I have to disagree. While after 49 years my long hair is very
much a part of me I still find it just as wonderful and exciting
to have long hair today as I did in 1964 when I started growing it.
Part of that is i'm varying the style I wear it in, (i.e. loose,
pony tail, braid, pig tails, etc.)
Also for me alot of it i battled parents, teachers, administrators, and employers for too many years to give
in now and cut my hair. So it will remain long until the day I die.
And all that adds to the excitement and wonderfullness of having long hair.
I see your point but I didn't quite mean it like that. I meant that having long hair is as much a part of me as having two arms. I definitely appreciate and enjoy having two arms but they are part of me as my long hair is.
There is a special excitement during the growing phase when you're becoming you - a longhair - that joy doesn't die for sure but it's just a little different once you've arrived. I definitely enjoy my long hair each and every day and by no means take it for granted.
Hi Jason,
I have to agree with you about the excitement during the growing phase. I am just now starting to feel my hair touching my shoulders in the front. Kind of a neat feeling if you ask me. Definitely making progress here! I can't comment on the arrival stage-haven't arrived yet! Take care.
Ted
Your hair is looking fantastic, keep those updates coming.
Since this board is about long hair on men those updates of yours
would not be considered spam.
I love how full your hair is and I love the look of the braid.
Thanks! It's been quite some time since you've posted a photo. How about an update! :)
I've been holding off doing an update until the hair gets down to
waist length. I think the last photo I posted was 13 month ago.
I'm hoping to post one soon.
Now that's cool! I can't wait until I get enough hair to do stuff like that. Happy trails, Jason!
Thanks! You would totally rock the halfup, can't wait to see it!
Hi Jason,
Oh, believe me, your photos would be considered good spam! I welcome any and all photos of your awesome hair! Your haur looks very nice with the braid and I do love the hemline. You are very fortunate to have such nice looking hair. I can't get over the color. Please keep us updated on your progress.
Sorry to hear you've been under the weather. I have too, hence my delayed reply. I certainly hope you get over your allergy symptoms soon. I hope you are able to grow your hair even longer also. It is worth a try for sure. I will be looking forward to your progress pics. Hope you have a wonderful week my friend!
Ted
P.S. Now if I can just rig my email spam folder to only receive long hair pics!
Hi Ted,
Thanks for your supportive comments. I'm sorry that you too are not feeling the best. It must be challenging at times to deal with an ongoing medical situation like you have. I admire your positive and upbeat spirit despite having this condition.
Jason
Hi Jason,
I fogot to mention how much I love your shirt in the bottom photo. That is cool:)
Ted
Thanks! It contributes to a hippie look! The only thing I don't like about it is that it has a hood and hoods don't go well with long hair.
Hi Jason,
I totally understand what you mean about the hood and long hair. I love hoodies, but only buy the ones with a full zipper since I wear glasses and it's a PITA to slip a non zip hoodie over my head with glasses on! And yes, you gotta love the hippie look!
Ted
Just wanted to say your hair looks amazing! Good luck with your next journey of "seeing" where you can go with it. As of now you have a wonderful mane to envy.
cheers,
rowie
Thanks rowie, I appreciate the encouragement. That picture you just posted is amazing. I wish I came to close to your thickness!
