Mr. Hair wondered about hair history...the quick version is I grew it to annoy my mom as a teenager, then figured out I liked long hair...my last major haircut was in the late 80s, but it was long before and after that. I am right around terminal length with the tips at calf length.
Not an update because the measured length is less than a half inch longer than the last pic.
Hi Trolleypup,
Well I have to say with hair that long who's going to notice a half inch, plus or minus, in either direction.lol.If mine were that long I would just give up on measuring it and just savor what I have:) Looks fantastic!Cheers

Not me, for sure...I was inches out of my stall before I actually measured it.
Also, even with my minimal wave, I lose 2-3 inches between wet in the shower and dry/preened.
Hi Trolleypup,
Your hair is looking fabulous here. I like the waves throughout the length. I hope I have those kind of waves when mine gets longer. Not sure I can even get to waist length, but I will try. Just out of curiosity, how long does your hair take to air dry? Do you wear your hair down and loose very often?
You have given me much inspiration with this nice pic. I tell myself I only want mid-back length. But when I see pics like this it makes me want even longer. Going to see what I can grow to. Please keep it growing and flowing! Hope you have a wonderful weekend my friend!
Ted
Air drying takes hours, in normal SF conditions, 2-4 if it is down, much more if I put it up. My hair is down maybe 10-ish hours a week (at work or at home or out and about it is usually up).
Thank you! I like to share the images so people will allow the possibility of extreme lengths.
Every time I see you I just get impatient. I'm saying to myself, "Man, I want that right now! Where's a wizard when you need one?"
Say Trolleypup, is there any way you could make a video of you running through a field of flowers in slow motion, set to "Pleasnt Valley Sunday"? Because that would be the greatest thing ever.
Now, that was totally laugh-out-loud funny. I almost coughed up my breakfast. Thanks for the great laugh to start the day.
Why is that funny? As I mentioned a while back I know a woman
who worked for Davy Jones several years ago and was devasted
when he died recently.
Trolleypup hair is great and an inspiration but I don't get the point you're trying to make.
Umm, you could insert anyone of us, running through a field of flowers in slow motion to that song, our long hair bobbing up and down catching the sunlight. You can't see how that would be comical? I might just try to make one of myself doing it someday and have a good laugh over it.
Lighten up, Herbert.
That just seems like perfect "running through a field of flowers in slow motion" music to me.
I don't know the music (of course), but I think the visual would be a nice sendup of the usual trope of (women's) shampoo ads.
Of course, in reality, my hair would go piecey and clumpy within a few seconds!
Definitely ultra-slow motion! Hah!
Heh! Experience tells me that not only would I have to be running, but I'd need a pretty strong headwind to have my hair flowing like you picture! Maybe one of these times I am up on a mountain top I can get some video!
One thing I did recently (although no images)...hair down in a warm pool, moving about, would have looked interesting from above.
Who could look upon your great and glorious mane and not be utterly impressed (and a bit envious)? Your hair is truly beautiful, and the length is an inspiration to all. Thank you for posting this photo.
Oh, there are always a few! But it is always nice to see and hear positive feedback!
Thanks for posting this for it keeps me inspired to continue growing out my hair. I'm already trying to practice good patience with keeping my hair up everyday except on wash day.
I've been on a once a week wash day routine for a year now and i'm very happy that my scalp is starting to finally adjust to this routine. Thanks to this routine, I hardly S&D now, only when I feel it is needed or when I feel like it.
I still keep an eye out on you at the "Knee length and beyond" thread, and it is these kinds of routines and plus some that I thought I should continue to work on since I do want to grow to at least classic+ length if I can.
best,
rowie
You have to find a balance between protection and enjoying it down...there are times when I would love to have it down, but the prospect of detangling afterwards is just too daunting.
Less washing and manipulation helps...until you get to very long lengths...then the years of accumulated damage alone leads to splits and stuff...and not taking care of S&D leads to more damage.
Getting rid of my last down comforter...tired of having down fluff be the primary cause of tangles in my hair.
Since I just have wispies beyond knee, I don't post many pictures there.
I think I have a very long way before that ever happens. However, for now I enjoy exploring updos. Plus maybe you've seen my crazy participation at some hair accessory joint somewhere. hahaha Hey, hair tools are like my clothes now. It's the one thing i'm happy with because it helps me keep my hair up and forget about it. :)
Still, I like your bling blings!
I naturally have fluff, but it is happily contained inside a bun and clipped with a Ficcare.
You have your moments! And when you do it makes me happy to see you happy with your hair, like the garden shot of you, or even you sitting on a trolley. :) But lately I know you've been down about the wispies, but please don't because not many people (especially men) can achieve reaching your length, and I'm wondering myself if i'll ever reach your length, even though I know my grandma had floor length hair, both my sisters had classic+ lengths. Only problem is I have never seen the men in any of my families with long hair so I just have the women of my family to go by. That might be iffy because of gender differences maybe...

Your hair is incredibly long and thick, Robert. Mine just won't grow that long. It is fine and fragile, only 65 to 70 microns in diameter. (I probably lose more to breakage than shedding.) I measured one strand of your hair from a longhair meet from a few years back and was astonished. It is an amazing 105 microns in diameter. I still have it. Coarse hair is almost a must for super lengths.
Scott (Wishing for coarser and stronger hair.)
oh... my... god... WOW
