Here is my current progress and goal in a nifty diagram.

To Mr J.E.T.
I totally understand the hurry and impatience of new guys growing out their hair the first time and want it long "yesterday". Your medley of photos illustrates the psychology of how many feel when growing hair that seems to take forever to get longer. I found the first 18 months the hardest but with every passing year it got easier. Your gonna have to be patient and enjoy the trip along the way. Just enjoy the journey, the different stages of growth both in hair and mind, and one day before you know it you will have reached your destination. After the goal is reached the journey will continue in other ways in subtle changes in hair colour and texture which only ends in death of the body.
cheers, Duncan
Now when I started growing my hair long in 1964 I wasn't really impatient for it to get longer. After all when I started it was
at "Beatle" length, and at that time i had no clue how long I wanted to grow it. Plus I had lots of fights/arguements/hassles from school administrators/teachers about my long hair. Many years later my hair had grown alot, I was still battling school administrators/teachers. But I never really got impatient, i was
enjoying the journey too much. I loved the idea of bucking the status quo, bucking school administrators, bucking the teachers.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire journey.
OMG, Duncan, you really crack me up here! Such a "cheerful" image that ends in death, what better way to sum up the meaning of life and time and hair growth than the above insightful statement? LOL, I love it!!! (And so true, so true!)
"Onward & Downward!"
(only in this case, I'm not so sure which direction "onward" is really going, or whether we're even talking about hair anymore - LOL!)

Unless you're Duncan McLeod death is an inevitable thing. At 58 that has become very evident for me as i've seen alot of relatives/friends/co-workers/etc die. So much so that i'm now
the oldest in my family. All those relatives who complained about my long hair have since died, so yeah death is an
inevitable occurance. On that note I plan to keep my hair long
until the day I die. And hopefully when i'm dead i'll be buried with my hair still long and it won't be cut. But I'll have no control over that when it happens.
May sound a little morbid but I have had a "Remember your own mortality" scr ipt tattoo on my chest since I was 19. Death is not a bleak thing, it is purely "fact/logic". It is part of the reason I am on this journey. I can't imagine having lived a full life some day without having had my hair at every possible length! :) Here is to long lives and lengths!

I would have to agree. Life is too short, too fragile to do things like give in and have short hair. So my philosophy is to
wear my hair long as long as i'm above ground. And to wear the Clothes I want to when I want to.
And at the age of 58 i've seen alot of friends/relatives/co-workers die. So the bottom line is you don't know
how long it will be before you shuffle off this mortal coil,
so if you want to do things like grow your hair today is the
day to do it since you never know what tomorrow will bring.
When you"re on your death bed taking your final breath are
you going to say to whomever is in the room that you wish you had spent more time at work or done things you regret not doing like grow your hair or spend more time with your kids?
I have become much more patient over the last few months. With every new half inch of growth I love my hair more and more. I just really like dark humor and satire so I thought I would share in a non-conventional way haha. Thank you for the well thought and intelligent reply! :)

That's a real hoot! Had me laughing quite a bit.
If you live for 10,000 years, you will have achieved immortality of course, and likely your hair follicles will have, too. No more "terminal length" for you! Let's see, half a foot of growth a year times ten thousand - you'll have almost a mile of hair!
