Hi all
It's been a while, I'm still growing the hair but am also concentrating on the beard. The beard is coming on well but i find that on the chin especially it tends to lay down flat back against the underside of the chin instead of going downwards. My question to all you long beards - is this normal until it gets longer and therefore should it start to grow downwards? I am aiming for an Aaron Kaufmann from Fast and Loud style!!
Hope everyone is dong well :)
Cheers Dave
Hey, Dave! Great to hear from you. Don't have any words of wisdom regarding long beards, but did wanna check in and tell you it's good to see you here again. Stick around!
Steve

Hi Dave. It seems that your beard follicles are slanted at an oblique angle toward your neck. For most of us, the beard follicles are slanted a little or grow at a right angle to the skin. It seems that yours are at less than a 30 degree angle. The only cure I can think of is to grow it really long using gravity to your advantage.
I am reasonably sure that your unusual beard growth pattern is related to your chaotic head hair growth pattern. I imagine the facial hair on the sides of your face grows in a completely different direction.
Scott (Currently with a 45 cm beard.)
Hello Scott
Thankyou for your reply, and I tend to agree with you that my hair growth pattern is random to say the least. I am hoping that as you say gravity will win out in the end. I am amazed at your beard and hair length.
Take care
Dave
When I grew a beard back in the 80s I never had this happen.
MIne always grew downward.
Is this what you're aiming for?
Aaron Kaufman
I'd recommend combing your beard outwards on a regular basis. That is, up the neck and towards the chin. Even if it grows in the opposite direction, you can still train it the way you want it. I'd also recommend checking out the link below. It's a board rather like ours, but focused on beards. I lurk there occasionally.
My beard's about three inches, by the way.
Beard Board
Thanks dude for the interesting tips, I will try them out and also check the beard community board for more info.
Cheers!
Dave
Hi Dave,
My beard generally grows straight down, as you can see from most of the pictures at the link, but as you can see in one of the pictures, when the wind blows, all bets are off!
Bill
Hi Dave,
Gotta to say your beard is impressive and a winner. How long have you been growing it out for?
Duncan
Hi Duncan
Great to hear from you, the pic is not me alas, it the length and style I would like to work towards. I am really impressed with your hair and beard farming skills however :)
Take care dude
Dave
Sounds like a plan, Dave!
My beard did the same when it was short - curls under the chin.
Myself, with about 27 inches of growth off of the chin, gravity pretty much pull the hairs downward.
Happy growing on both the northern and southern hemispheres of the head.

Hi Oren
Thanks for replying, and I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I plan on growing long enough to let gravity take over.
Your hair and beard combo are a massive inspiration to me.
I hope all is well with you, take care buddy
Dave
Looks great Dave;
It is always great to hear from you. Thanks for sharing.
Walter
Hi Dave
That looks really great! I can see nothing wrong with your beard at all, in fact, if A. Lincoln himself were here today, he may have actually been jealous!
Good wishes to you always Dave. :-)
Justin~
Hi Justin
Like I mentioned to Steve, this isn't me, my hair is much longer than this.
Great to hear from you though my dear chap, I really hope life is treating you well :)
Take care Dave
Was just looking through the mlhh archives for the first time and that was a lot of fun; thought I would have a quick perusal of the board after and saw all of these unfamiliar names....until I came across you guys, Dave and Justin, two of the nicest people I have ever come across!
Thanks for all your support guys esp 2004-2007.
& as to the beard question, sorry I can't be of more help there mate but post some progress pics maybe...always felt that was one of the best features of this community.
Cheers!
Dean
