i did it, got my ears pierced today. they are the small ones as a starter kit. if they are not too small to show, i'll post pictures later. they are the cubic zirconium, silver. the largest possible for a starter kit.
Grats on the piercings, it sounds like something you're going to be very happy with. I've thought about it a few times myself but I hate needles. Shh don't tell my tattoo artist!
needles were not used. just the piercing gun with the earrings I chose in it. just a pinch that didn't even last a minute. less of a feeling than having a blood test or shot at the drs. they puncture the lobe only, a blood test or shot goes through to the bone.
starter earrings are just a stud, too small to photograph. after the standard 6 week waiting period, I will get larger earrings that will show on a picture.

My apologies for the delayed reply! Good that you went ahead and got your ears pierced. You will look awesome with some nice small hoops I believe! Either Gold or Silver would look great on you! Can't wait to see your pic with the larger earrings!

Sounds like you did it professionally. Probably better and safer than what I did. I only did one side, but I used a thumbtack that was sterilized by heating it with a lighter during a night of drinking in the barraks while I was in the military. Ended up stabbing my thumb in the process. Not my best moment.
