Hey Brother Long Hairs,
I have been saving my hair sheddings for some months. Does anyone know of any one who would use these pieces of hair for a wig or something else? If so, where can I send it?
Raymond

Gee, I thought I was the only one here who did this. I guess I am not alone. This was a few years back, and that box is really full now.
Shed hair strands can useful. If you are into fishing, a strand of hair can used to wrap soft bait on a fish hook to keep it from falling off. It may be possible to make a pillow, if you have enough of it. Human hair can even be used to clean up oil spills. It will absorb many times its weight in crude oil or bunker fuel.
You may just want to save it for now.
Scott
I save none of them, but then i've noticed very little sheddings
of my hair. I guess it probably is still shedding, I just don't notice it.
Hey Long Hair In Albany,
Absolom gave me a good suggestion: use my hair sheddings for stuffing a pillow.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Wow Absalom, that pic is kind of creepy. I'm not judging, though. My room is full of blades, my mom tells me it looks like a serial killer lives here.
Anyways, I usually just throw my sheds away. I don't think any charities take shed hairs, they usually want hair to be of one length, generally 10+ inches, and there aren't any that take grey hair as far as I know. "People don't buy wigs to get grey hair" is a quote I know I've seen somewhere. I mean, I would, but I think gray hair is awesome.
Most of those hair donation places are scams, just so you know. Locks of Love is a big one, they're all about lies of omission. They throw out hair donations in huge quantities, and SELL the wigs they make instead of donating them to the people they claim to help. Just look online and you'll find a lot of stories about guys who were guilted into donating to Locks of Love, and videos of them at the barber. I'm not going to link them because those videos make me cry.

I know, I am a bit strange. (I have Asperger's)

The hair charities would likely accept shed hair if they did not know it was shed hair. Just lay side by side thousands of shed hair strands and bind the upper end with tape.

Most are scams. They only use 2 or 3% of the hair they receive, from what I have read. I will not let anyone lay a guilt trip on me into donating my hair. I have over 20 years of blood, sweat, and tears invested in my knee length mane.
I hope your hair is coming along well.
Scott
Hey Septet,
I agree with you that grey hair is awesome; it's a sign of wisdom. Nevertheless, I agree with you that the places like Locks of Love are not places I would cut my hair for. I once donated two (2)ponytails of hair to them and I don't think they used them for a wig for someone with cancer. I think they threw my hair away. Absolom gave me a good idea; use my hair sheddings for stuffing for a pillow.

Hey Scott,
Thanks for the suggestions as to what I can do with my hair sheddings. I enjoy fishing but unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to go fishing too often. I like the suggestion to use my hair sheddings for a pillow.

Raymond
