I got an upgraded phone, so I was finally able to send the old photos of me with short hair to the computer. Here is one of them (taken in January 2010, I think) juxtaposed with a photo taken today.

I have to say that's such a stark difference in only three years which goes to show how longhair really changes ones appearance.Of course its always for the better I feel:) Well good luck with the new phone and thanks for that trip down memory lane!Cheers my friend.

I don't think hair can change from dark to light naturally, except when it turns grey/white from old age. So that change is entirely artificial.
I rarely smile in photos because the smile makes me look feminine. It's also significant that my expression is the same in both photos because although my hair has changed for the better, all in all I'm not any happier now than I was back then.
In my case my hair was all black, it is now well on the way to transitioning to grey. I fully expect that in the coming years it will become all grey and maybe white. i plan to do nothing to eliminate that grey hair. God intended for me to have long hair so i'm going to do my best to fulfill that intention.
I also never smile in my photos. I look like a dork when i smile. Always have, always will.
I agree with everyone else--your hair is simply wonderful--the length, the color and how well it looks on you. I don't mean to intrude but I am concerned when you wrote you are no happier than before. Please know it is ok to talk with a friend, a school counselor or a professional. I have and it has helped me tremendously. I am more happy and self conficent than ever. You deserve to feel happier and I know some day you will.
