Having grown my hair a few times now I'm no longer surprised when I start getting comments about it. While almost everyone I know has been openly accepting and encouraging of me growing my hair I have in the last two days had a few negative comments. To me this just encourages me. I find it funny really and my response was to just ignore it, though I do so enjoy a witty response. Let the fun begin.
Whenever I got negative comments it just encouraged me to grow my
hair longer. It's my hair, I want it long, if someone doesn't like it they can go jump out the window.
And in all the years I went to school post 1964 the more I got complaints from teachers/administrators/employers the more I was determined to let my hair grow longer and keep it long.
I sometimes wonder would I have kept my hair long if I got zero
complaints from teachers/school administrators/employers?
But then when I was in school right up through college I was constantly breaking the rules when it came to the dress code.
Even when I went to a night club/out to dinner/or a banquet
where proper dress was required I didn't comply. And thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Yup, that is totally my attitude too. Love it!

Best way to look at it and I always found it funny as well. But most guys (and here I speak of the guys who have emailed me since my long hair videos of 2008-2009) unfortunately go into a state of absolute panic. Here are some classics:
1. "Justin, what should I do? People are looking at me. How do I get them to stop?"
2."People are telling me that I will look like a Girl."
3. " My best friend just told me if I don't get a haircut he won't talk to me anymore."
And then for the 1st timers growing out their hair. (Comments within the first 6 weeks!)
1. " Help Justin. I am in the Awkward Stage and my hair is tickeling my Ears. I don't know what to do."
2. "My hair is longer in the back than in the front and I don't know why."
3. "Should I get a trim now so my hair will grow longer? It has already been 33 days and I can't control it" (Mind you, this person has just started growing his hair out from a Buzz Cut.) LOL
Justin~
And my response to this is have you looked girls lately?
Around here most of the girls have short hair. Many of them
have hair wwll above the shoulders, and some of them even have
hair that is shorter. I can go into one of our local stores and
most of the time i'll have longer hair than every woman in the
place. Sure there are some women with long hair but that is seen
rarely now.
So for me it feels really good to go in any place around this city
and have hair that is longer than most of the women.
So as my hair gets longer and back to waist length women's hair
gets shorter and shorter.
Hi LHIA,
Yes, and I really can't stand short hair on women. Excellent points you make here.
Ted
My philosophy on this is simple, it is their hair, these women can wear their hair the way they want to. If they want to wear it short that is their right. I know some women who have butt length hair, I know some others that have buzz cut length hair.
Just as it is my choice to have long hair, it is their choice
to have whatever length hair they want.
I don't want anyone telling me how long or short to wear my hair,
so nobody should be telling these women how they should wear their hair.
Why get them to stop? They are looking at your hair because they are jealous of how great your hair looks. And if they are bald they are jealous of the fact that you can grow hair and they can't.
No big loss. He probably wasn't worth having as a friend anyways.
Friends stick by you and support you. If he is going to refuse to talk to you becsuse you have long hair then "good bye, don't
let the door hit you on the way out."
Hi LHIA,
More excellent points. I totally agree with them.
Ted
Thank you.
Hi CJ,
Yes, let the fun begin! If you are getting comments either negative or positive, you are doing something right. Just use the negative ones for extra motivation. Little do the naysayers know, they are really motivating you to grow even more. It's all mind over matter. If you don't mind, they don't matter! Please keep it growing and flowing!
Ted
