I grew my hair out to my shoulders a few years ago after leaving the military, but cut it in a fit of discomfort. Giving it another go, this is my progress from last September to today. I'm starting nursing school in the fall, so I have to take out my earrings, so the hair had to come back.
Looks good, my friend! It would seem that you're already catching up to your lovely lady. What branch of the military were you in? I was Navy, myself.
May good fortune smile upon your journey!
I was navy also, CTT2 SW AW NAC. Went on terminal leave 09/08/2001.
Hi cdcro,
Welcome to the board! You will find many fellow longhaired friends here along with much inspiration. Your hair looks wonderful and will look even better when it's longer! Looks like you have made great progress so far! I am glad you can grow your hair even without the earring.
I admire you for wanting to be a nurse. Since I was diagnosed with kidney disease, I have come to have more respect and appreciation for medical personnel. I wish you much success in completing your nursing school, after which you will join a group of what I like to call angels on Earth. And with long hair, that's way cooler man!
I also wish you much success in your hair growing journey! How long are you going to grow it? Please don't have any more fits of discomfort! Your hair is going to look so awesome when it gets longer! Thanks for your Navy service! My Dad was also in the Navy. He was in submarine service for 20 years. He was an electronics technician. I was in the Air Force for 4 years as a ground support equipment mechanic.
Hope you have a great week my friend!
Ted
Thanks for the kind words. I've been debating the nursing route for a few years. I really have the temperment for it, but didn't want to go back to college. My wife just finished her master degree, and encouraged me to do "what I want", so here I go.
As far as me length goes, I want at least mid-back, but i'm not sure how long it will end up. Maybe more, maybe less.
Welcome to the MLHH. You will find lots of friendly folks here offering advice and encouragement.
You definitely have come a long way and looking good. Thanks for Sharing.

WWT, thanks for the warm welcome.
Hey, welcome to the board. It's great to have you here. I'm glad on two counts: That you're going to nursing school and you're also getting serious about growing your hair out! My son just graduated nursing school this last January with his LPN certification. He's working in that field now and is also planning on returning to classes soon to go for his RN certification, as well. As my wife and I have watched him throughout the schooling process and now his working in his chosen field, we can't believe the change. He's just matured and branched out in almost every direction before our eyes. It's been great to see. I hope the same for you. You'll be a better man for doing it. I don't think there is a better profession, IMO.
As far as hair goes, I am 61 years old and mine has been growing for well over three years. It grazes my belt-line these days. I'm happier with myself and the way I look more than I've ever been, because I finally did something for me. I grew it out because I wanted to do it. If other people don't like it, well...I didn't do it for their sake, anyway.
As I said, welcome, my friend. I hope your nursing and hair journeys are both fruitful and bring you great joy and satisfaction.
Have a good night.
Steve
It's nice to hear your son is a nurse. Hopefully he'll be able to do the RN then BSN transition easily. We need more men in nursing.
