I got another reminder of just how short life is on this planet.
I just found out a friend I knew from college just died.
That now makes three friends that have died in recent months.
It's a reminder that if you're going to grow your hair, take that
trip that you wanted, or do something else, you shouldn't hesitate, you should do it today while you're still alive to do it.
You never know what is waiting around the corner.
Hi LHIA,
I am sorry to hear of your friend's passing. May they Rest in Peace. Yes, I have definitely come to realize just how delicate and short life can be. Since I was diagnosed with kidney disease I had to go on dialysis. In August I will have been on dialysis for 2 years. I'm only 46 years old, but I own the disease it does not own me. I have seen 5 patients pass away at my clinic so far. My eyes have been opened about how short life can truly be.
So, I am having a blast growing my hair and working on my stamp collection. Also, I have been able to spend quality time with my family. Our priorities tend to get shifted upon our discovery of certain things. Definitely tells me that age is just a number. My Grandfather just passed away at 93. HE had no major medical issues. But I can tell you, he kept wanting to go-couldn't figure out why he was still here.
So, with that said, let's all get to growing our hair!
Ted
with your statements and knowing of your condition
And same for me with several near misses so far in the last 4 years. And so, though many are still "TELLING ME" (not asking) if I plan to grow-out my hair long which was lost because of illness, I have been having a blast with all kinds of things and even doing my own haircuts. I am sure the photo just taken above may cause some to scoff or perhaps not approve, but so what? They haven't been through what I have and I hope they never will. (I still do and continue on through my videos to encourage any guy who wants to to grow-out his hair long and answer all kinds of questions for them.)
My personal decision was to just have some fun with my hair from now on and do all kinds of crazy new and invented things with it that I enjoy. Also, there is a great joy in still composing new musical works that are actually finding their way into print as well as restoring Antique Reed Organs and performing all kinds of music on them that others seem to be enjoying on my You Tube Channel.
All the best Ted and thank you for posting what you did. Wishing you a great weekend.
Justin~
ps: And just where did I get this unique(???) haircut? I did it myself. (There is a really neat tail in the back btw.) FUN! :-)
ps2: Just recently someone remarked to me in a local Coffee Shop when I planned to get out of my second Childhood. My come back? "Impossible, I haven't gotten out of my first!"
and if anyone wants to laugh at a nearly 65 year old man doing something like this...........great! The world is in desperate need of laughter with all that is going on. I hope they fall flat on their faces laughing in stiches.
bty: I had read someplace that a Rat Tail was yucky and nobody liked them. Oh well, I have had several Rat Tails during my life and always thought they were fun!

Hi Justin,
Thanks for the nice reply to my post! I sure hope you stay healthy-I don't want any more "near misses" for you. And I am dismayed to hear longevity is not on your side. We just have to press on and do each day what we want and need to do. Emphasis on"we" not "they". To heck with "they"!
I must say I miss seeing your long hair. But I do really like the different haircuts you are sporting now. Very cool. I just don't understand why people are still telling you about growing your hair. They must have forgotten it's your hair! I love your Youtube hair videos and I need to check into the reed organ music videos. Sounds nice.
I am glad to see you are having fun doing your own haircuts! You are a good barber man! I am loving the rat tail look! However, I am not ready to do that just yet:) That was a great comeback to the idiot in the coffee shop. Have you known that person very long? But I must agree with you about not getting out of the first childhood! I sometimes think I have regained some of my child-like wonder. And that can be a good thing. Kids just see things differently if you know what I mean.
I sincerely hope you have a great weekend my friend! I always like to see you post here and am glad you're still lurking about:) I gotta get back to the stamp collection:)
Take care, Ted
Hi Ted
Nope. I didn't know that person at all. This is a typical example of what people are like that go right up to a stranger that is not "acting/looking" like a Clone boring "Society Person" and being downright rude. I just cannot imagine such crass and they do this all the time to guys in process of grwing out their hair and often make the guy feel so bad that he cuts to apease a worthless example of a Human Being.
Yes, you are so right about the kids. And now, for a video of about a month ago. (If you skip ahead into the second 3rd of the video you will be right to where all of the action starts. Now, why would someone my age even think of inventing such a video? Cause it was fun and I had great fun making it. Also, proof that I am still in my 1st childhood. All I need now is to get my Trike fixed and new sand for my Sandbox. (The box that has the name "Goo-Goo" painted in Finger Paint on the side.) LOL :-)

Now my response would be the complete opposite. My hair would stay long and if I got several of those comments my goal isntead
of waist length would be knee length.
I went through all this back in the 60s when school administrators and teachers insisted I had to cut my hair. Well I didn't, the more they insisted I cut the more I insisted on
keeping the long hair growing. Well fast forward to today,
i graduated from that school, the hair is still long. I flatly refused to follow the other sheep who complied with the school
hair czars.
You also need to fire the cat who clearly has fallen down on the job.
Now i've never had someone say that to me. And now that i'm 58
years old I probably won't. The last time I got a complaint about my long hair was when I was 45 years old.
Since I started growing my hair long in 1964 and still have long hair 49 years later I would have to say i'm still living through
my first child hood. And since i'm always wearing long hair and wearing shorts i'll be living my first child hood until the day I die. I fully intend to keep doing both until the day I die. So when I die i'll be in my 90s and still refusing to grow up.
(That is a really bicarre concept. Even though i'm married,
have worked full time at the same job since 1986, and own my own house I haven't grown out of my childhood since I have long hair
and always wear shorts. The bottom line for me is at 58 years old I'll continue to wear my hair the way I want, continue to wear the clothes I want, and if someone doesn't like it they can lump it.)
As as your hair, hey it's your hair it's up to you to do with your hair what you want. Others have no say at all. And I wish you luck with your health.
Continueing to grow my hair onward and downward and still refusing to grow up at the ripe old age of 58.
Sorry to hear of your loss brother. I think of death on a daily basis and it has served me well in keeping my focus. Sending positive vibes your way!
Thank you. At the age of 58 i've enocuntered alot of deaths between many family members, many friends, and many co-workers
it goes to show how fragile life is, how short life is, and how
it can be over in an instant.
I am very sorry to learn of this loss and it is always heartbreaking to lose a friend. All of what you have said is so true: "You should do it today while you're still alive to do it." I have always wondered why most people do not seem to see the whole picture as they go through life and instead get themselves tied-up in such petty knots of nonsense. ie: All bent out of shape if a guy is growing out his hair. Fools they are! Life is just so fragile. Just unbelievable how swiftly it can be taken away........in only seconds or less. I came from a very large and truly wonderful family. (Longevity is not on our side.) And at present only myself and my Sister (recovering from major life threatening conditions) are the sole survivers. If I make it, I will be 65 in August.
Justin~
Thank you. At the age of 58 i've seen a lot of friends/family/
co-workers die over the years. My family is large and many of them have died over the years such that I'm now one of the oldest in the family. And even though i'm the eccentric uncle with long hair it's scary how many of those family members have died.
Hi Long Hair in Albany,
I am genuinely sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, as well as the other friends you have lost in the past little while. You can be assured that my thoughts are with both you as well as their loved ones.
Take care,
David
Thank you.
