Hey guys!
I have one question: My hair is in general straight/wavy. But at the ends it curls up (not A LOT), like really nicecurls/waves. My ends are not split or dry, they are very defined and moisturized ends, but they curl up.
I have shoulder length (not past shoulder yet, my hair "rests" on my shoulders when it dries ). So the ends curl up a bit but I would like to know if this will stop once it grows longer( past shoulder length) and if there is any way to stop my hair from curling up at the ends now.
This is a normal trait of hair. It probably looks fine to everyone except you. I would consider it an asset and go with it, myself (and have done so). The last time I grew mine out, I just started brushing it with the curl and let it do it's thing. I think it looked great.
If you really have to change the curl you could always resort to the same things women do for this: use a curling iron or large diameter hair rollers. This takes a good bit of practice, though. The first few times you try it things probably won't look so great.
Hi Dave,
I believe like the other members have said. Since your hair is resting on your shoulders when it dries, it is curling up. When your hair gets long enough to hang free, this shouldn't happen. If you have wavy hair, the curls may stay only at the ends when longer. If your hair is straight, the ends will probably drop out and be straight. But then again, hair is funny and things could be totally different! I am sure your hair will look just great!

The cause of this is very simple. Your shoulders are in the way of your hair. Your hair can't grow through your shoulders, so it has to grow sideways around them. Its that simple. With increased length, (maybe mid back) your hair will be growing straight down instead of sideways. As far as I know, all guys growing out hair that is semi straight or straight encounter this. It is a rite of passage to becoming a longhair.

Hm. My hair is also generaly straight (but it's also fine). At the shoulder length the hair curled up at the ends a lot. I'm sure my hair was in good condition at that time, but still it went on. It sometimes looked inredibly funny (like a clownish hairstyle, damn it).
Now my hair is approximately at shoulder blades length and the hair started laying in different way. The curling still remained, but now it has some kind of a slight wave clother to the ends, and it looks much better now. Actually, I love how it looks now.
So probably yours will also change.
Serge.
What you are experiencing is one of the features of the awkward stage!
Hello guys!
I read every single comment on this thread and I wanted to thank everyone for commenting.
I will wait until my hair grows longer and I definitely believe that the ends curls will weigh down and straighten once my hair is longer.
Hi Dave,
I just know your hair will look so awesome in the future! And thanks for the thanks!
