Just wondering what you would recommend for this. Its hard to describe but looking for a product that will help.
It seems light meaning it still wants to puff up and out and it seems a little coarseish. Just looking for something to soften it up some or thicken it up a little. I wash it 2-4 times a week depending on how much I sweat but condition every day usually. I also have been using Coconut milk on it for a little while now but not seeing much in the way of improvement.
I think that washing 2-4 times a week is drying your hair out.
I always say the same thing: shampoo is pure detergent for hair and contains a lot of harsh ingredients for hair.
I tend to avoid shampoo. If I really NEED to , I use shampoo not more than twice a month because my hair is super dry, so If I abuse using shampoo it tends to get super dry.
So try that, using shampoo twice a month or once a week. Also, do not condition every single day.
Conditioning is ok, but if you do it every single day your hair will get used to that and will stop producing oil on its own.
Is every other day okay then?
I would say it depends.
It depends on the conditioning product you use, the amount of time you let the product working on your hair, etc.
I would suggest the following routine:
- Wash hair with shampoo once a week (or twice, not more than that). I myself do it once every two weeks, the rest of the days I condition only.
- Wash hair with conditioner twice a week.
- Deep-condition ONCE a week (deep condition means using a deep-conditioning product -the ones specially made to use from once in a while- , leave it on your hair for aprox 30 min/ 1 hour -depending on the product you use, then rinse).

Your hair does look coarse from what I see in the photo, Mike. Coarse hair is stiffer due to greater hair shaft diameter. The best cure to your problem would be more length. Gravity does the work of getting your hair to lay down with increased length. Until you can gain several inches of additional length, you may want to try coconut oil instead of coconut milk. Just a few drops should be applied. It will weigh down hair that sticks up.
Also, you may try washing no more than twice per week. When your hair is stripped of natural oils from washing, it will stick up.

Hi Mike,
First of all, welcome to the board! I really can't add much to the advice the guys already gave you. My advice is for you is to just keep growing your beautiful hair! My hair is kind of like yours I think. What I do is only wash 1-2 times per week. The other days I either use only water or only conditioner. But I always rinse my hair under cold water and comb it through. When I dry my hair, I only pat it lightly with the towel. When you rub it your hair gets frizzy. Hope this helps! Hope you have a great week my friend!

I don't dry my hair at all. I don't use a towel on the hair
after a shower, it air drys.
I barely touch it with the towel. My hair practically is still dripping. Just this step alone has improved the softness of my hair so much.

As your hair grows it should puff up less as the weight of the hair will decrease the puffyness.
I would also add my hair has more puffyness on the day I shampoo/condition it. By the next day it will be less puffy.
Best product for your hairtype!
