Hey guys hoping everyone is having a great start to the weekend.Having a little rain by me at the moment but think its only gonna be short lived....I hope;) Well in the meantime I decide to take some new pics of me and my hair even though much hasn't changed on a length perspective.I know we've had a couple guys give up on longhair, which is fine since that is their preference, but for me I would love more....more...MORE! LOL.Anyway here I am the old geezer I'm becoming. He he! Cheers
Mârk
And a behind the back shot for a length perspective:)
Mârk
My hair would be as long as your hair if I hadn't trimmed the ends to even the hair up.
My hair is still the old boring grey.
Oh please don't say that as your hair is just changing with the times just like mine has:)My last professional trim was in 2005 so with that said I should have hair almost to my knees but its just not the case.I feel I've reached my terminal length so I just enjoy what I was god given:) I just decided to have a little fun and did the henna coloring to it which I've never regretted.Anyway thanks for you posts as I've always enjoyed reading you inputs on this hyperboard:)Cheers my friend.
Mârk
This is pretty close to my first goal length Mark. Looking awesome and thanks for the inspiration! Onward and downward!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Thanks for using my hair as a form of inspiration being there are guys here with much nicer manes than mine but hey, I'll accept it;)lol.Figured I'd do a little update that also included some new fashion items I recently picked up.Hey maybe they made my hair look longer?LOL.Cheers my friend.
Mârk
Mark,
Wonderful hair on broad shoulders and a trim lower body frame. Shows exceptional determination to maintain long hair on a lean machine. It's gut determination to keep the fat off. Just shows long hair so much better. Fitting those sleek jeans with long hair pouring down helps me try to achieve the same thing.
I just backpacked 40 miles from Toulumne Meadows Yosemite to Mammoth Mountain, CA, through the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area. Lost 4 pounds carrying a 50 pd. backpack. But my hair shined getting more blonde in the sun. Need to get back to the weight lifting machines. It's so much more fun to wear long hair with a trim body. Thanks for the inspiration.
Don
Hi Don,
Thank you for that fantastic round of compliments as I do appreciate that:)Yes I do take pride in not only my hair but my body as well.I feel fortunate, at 51, to still fit into jeans that I've worn during my high school years.I try and eat well and have been religious about keeping up with my gym workouts. It is amazing that the jeans I'm wearing are a size 27!Hell they are a far cry from those baggy things the kids wear today that are falling off their butts!LOL.
That backpacking trip sounds great Don:)I'd love to do that someday if I had a companion to hike with. Not sure if you did it solo but I would like to share the experience with someone.Anyway great hearing from you and please stop in again my friend.Cheers

Hi Mark,
Size 27! That is awesome! You are just too fit for your britches! I never could understand the baggy jeans thing. Or the jeans that are already faded and have rips and defects put in them and are over priced. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $75.00 for a pair of jeans like that! Great look Mark!
Ted
Hey Ted,
Oh believe me those jeans are really tight as I'm sure you can tell and I wouldn't wear them if I were going out for a pig out dinner! LOL.Still it's a testament that I can even wear them but I've always liked the look and feel of snug jeans. It does baffle me with this current trend of baggy jeans as I just don't get it.What's so great looking about clothes so loose they barely stay up.Oh well guess I'm not a fashion geek.lol.Cheers
Mârk
My understanding is the loose/baggy jeans started a number of
years back when manufacturers noticed that instead of men buying
their correct size they'd buy them several sizes larger to
get a looser fit. So customers were doing it before the
advent of loose fitting jeans/baggy jeans/etc.
I would also mention that back in the 70s I could wear jeans
that were 32" and skin tight. Now I wear 38" or 40" waist
and they are no where near as tight. also much of the time
i'm wesring shorts but do have the loose/baggy jeans that i
wear periodically even though i'm wearing shorts the majority of the time.
Hmmm, I've heard various reasons for the advent of baggy jeans and one had something to do with prison inmates but I'll just leave it at that.lol.I'm sure someone wanted to start a trend but being I don't follow trends I just do what I like in regards to clothes and that goes for hair too! Cheers

---------------
I'm not going to knock baggy jeans, i've got a bunch of pairs of
wide leg jeans, most in the 30" to 40" range, but I have one that is 50" and one that is 60"
I also have a number of pairs of jeans that are ripped.
Back in college I was a 32" waist. Those days are now long gone.
Hi LHIA,
Actually I am not knocking the baggy/ripped jeans. But did you spend $75.00 for yours? I sure hope not. Some of these overpriced jeans are so faded already that they look 15 years old. I myself prefer comfortable jeans-neither tight nor loose.
Ted
Are you a Viking, too, Mark? You're lookin' good from behind. You got somthing working for you at 50.
--------------------
Well it seems after I hennaed my hair I did get a lot of Viking comments so maybe I'm just in transition;) Well all I can say is I'm trying to age gracefully. Lol.Cheers.
Mârk
I love your hair, Mark. This pictures are impressive and yeah, after seeing other guys giving up on long hair I think I needed to see more long hair related updates. After all, this is a hyperboard for men's long hair.
There is something about seeing old guys with long hair that always cheers me up. It gives me so much hope that I will remain a Longhair until I will be six feet under.
Hi Michail,
Thank you so much for your nice reply as if I can someway be an inspiration to a guy like you it makes this all worth it to me:) Yes last year I passed my 50th birthday so that was quite a milestone.Still I always feel its only a number and will carry myself in a way that makes me happy. That includes wearing my hair as long as humanly possible and dressing in a way that makes me feel good about myself:)It does sadden me when guys throw in the towel but thankfully there are guys like you who remain true believers:) And I like what you said about having long hair up until being six feet under.Me too! Cheers my good friend!

When I see that, I smile, too. I see a man who is true to himself. For many of us, "longhair" is a lifelong identity. How we appear in showing that identity does change for most of us as we age, but the identity is still there, and is forever just as strong.
Yes, as we get older, most of us have less hair, but as I've said to some friends, "Should I lose one tooth, I would not tell the dentist to pull the rest of them!"
My hair has gone through several changes over the years. It's been blond, black, and now mostly gray. It's been curly, wavy, and straight. As it's transitioned from one phase to another, parts of my head have been in a newer phase while another part has remained in the previous one. At the moment, hair on the top of my scalp is straight and mostly gray. Hair below ear level is quite wavy and darker, so the hair on top falls down to where the lower bunch of hair is, and then it sticks out to overlay the lower hair. Sometimes it looks like I've got a hair piece on top that doesn't really match the hair below. But do I cut it? Hell, no! I know whatever phase my hair is in is only temporary, and some other surprise awaits. To me, part of being a longhair is not having an unchanging glob on top of your head, but rather, a growth that is always changing, and always blowing in the wind.
We each get our own hair. Longhairs tend to be unique guys, and our hair differences are one way we are. If I say I want hair the length of Scott's, hair as thick as some of the younger guys on here, and hair that is wavy and the same color all over, when I look at my head I will be very disappointed. Those looks though are not what the Good Lord dealt me. So I don't run crying to the barber shop and get it all cut off. That would be like telling the dentist I don't like my teeth now, so pull them all out. To a longhair, his hair is part of his body, and we can all celebrate the hair that each of us has. Mark and I have very different hair, and as the years go by, our hair will change and we will likely have less of it, but that is awesomely cool. We are longhairs!
And Mark, your hair is very unique, and it looks great! Keep it flowin'!
Bill
Hi Bill,
I have to say you always have a wonderful way with words as I've always admired how you put things into perspective:)You and I have been around long enough and know the ups and downs of things with hair being one of them.My hair journey began in my early 20s and has since always been long.Never a hiccup, second guessing,I knew what I wanted. My hair has gone through stages of being very blonde to darkening over the years and just before I started to henna my hair I knew gray was creeping in.I have no problem with gray hair but wanted to try something bold and exciting. My last bold hair change was the late 1980s when I had my hair permed. It was a fun experiment but found it was very detrimental to my hair's health hence I only did it that one time.I have to be honest and admit how saddened I was reading the posts from great board members here who chose to give up their manes out of convenience.I in no way criticize them but rather wonder why was longhair such a problem for them.Well we are our own individual so we choose what's best for ourselves.Thank you Bill for the kind words as they mean a lot coming from you.Whatever happens to me in my remaining years I just want to spend them at peace with myself and being longhaired is a big part of that.I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to met you and Larry during your cross country tour as I never in a million years would have thought you guys would actually be on my turf here in NJ.Looking forward to seeing you guys in the fall so until then keep the manes growin' and flowin':)Cheers

Hey, Mark - your hair looks great and so do you - You don't look like an old guy to me - LOL - I remember you mentioned coloring with henna - it looks good... thanks for sharing your pictures.
Hi fitzgarce,
Yea I'm an old timer or at least approaching whatever that officially is considered to be.lol.Still I'll be growing my hair and as you mentioned coloring it with henna. I hardly think I'll fit in with the Bingo hall crowd so guess I'll just have to hang out here:) Thank you for the kind words as I too encourage you to achieve your longhaired dreams my friend!Cheers

That is a wonderful photo....your hair looks much thicker and your henna coloring now looks very natural.
Thanks for Sharing
Walkter
Hey thank you Walter as I feel after a couple years with the henna it's almost like its been that color my whole life!lol. Of course we won't tell as it'll be our little secret ;) Hope your having a fantastic weekend my friend.Cheers
Mârk

You look great. I love the shirt.
Scott
Hey thanks Scott as that's just one of the few I bought:) You saw one of the others last year when we went out hiking in Tilden Park:)Cheers
Hi Mark,
What a great photo, and I agree with the others that your hair indeed looks thicker here. Congrats on such a good job with the henna!
I do know that I have been terrible about posting any update photos of any shape or form for ages, but my hair hasn't really changed that much. However, I am resaonably satisfied with its thickness, considering that I celebrate my 60th birthday this upcoming Tuesday.
Take care,
David
Hi David and first of all let me wish you a pre "Happy Birthday" my good friend:)Yes, looks like your embarking on a new milestone but I'm getting there also so don't sweat it;)
Yes it's been some time since I posted anything new which is why I figured this was a good excuse to throw something out there.Everyone has already seem my hennaed hair and the length hasn't really changed so I kind of figure what's the point. So since I bought some new clothes it made a good excuse for this update.Oh well as long as my mug didn't blow up anyone's monitor I guess no harm done.LOL.Cheers....
Mârk
Hi Mark,
I am sure glad you decided to take a few update pics! I must say you are looking good with your beautiful hair! Hopefully you can gain some more length in the future. And I know you won't ever give up on long hair! The henna is doing wonders for your hair also. You hardly look like an old geezer to me! Actually looking kinda buff to be honest! Nice to hear you're getting some rain! We sure could use some down here in Texas!
Great weekend to you my friend!
Ted
Thank you for the kind remarks Ted:) Wow, it's kind of cool that someone thinks I'm buff but I'll try not to get too big a head!lol.Well I admit to regularly working out at the gym but really its only to try and slow the aging process for me.Recently I was surprised to learn I have a herniated disk in my lower back plus a degenerative condition as well.I only found this out after having an MRI done since I've been experiencing increasingly sever back pain.Currently I'm having physical therapy done and hopefully this helps with the problem.Should my back worsen it could very well end my working career as I know it.It's kind of a shock to me as I've had great health all my adult years up until this came up.Anyway I've always appreciated your kind words to the membership and keep up the great work on achieving your longhaired dreams:)Cheers my friend.
Mârk
Hey Mârk! An update is just awesome. Long hair suits you really a lot, and yeah, it looks just great! The hair is in good condition and looks thick at this length. Do you get any periodical trims?
And yes, the color is just superb - red is my favourite hair color :)
Thanks for such an update!
Serge.
Hiya Serge :)
Thanks for your comments on my hair.To answer your question I have not had a professional trim done to it since 2005 and really don't trim it myself.I just leave it alone with the exception of my periodic henna treatments to keep up that great red color:)Hope all is well with you my friend.Cheers
Mârk
Hey Mark!
Hair is looking great, man! That color really works for you there, definitely a great way to keep oneself fresh and younger looking! :)
Hey there Raul,
Oh nooooo the secret is out as an old geezer trying to look like I'm 20!LOL.Well in reality I just broke 30;) He he.Well lets just say I'm 30 + and leave it at that.Thank you for the kind words and you reply my friend:)Cheers.
Mârk
Looking good sir! I definitively wouldn't guess your age over 50, I would say late 30s/early 40s!
-Tommy
Hey Mark,
Great to see an update and see that your hair remains thick and long! Kudos too for keeping in such great shape. We may have to get older but the body can stay fit for a very long time.
