... about half dry ...
It's perfect!
Yoni ~ thank you so much for your sentiments - you are always so kind to me - but you must realize, you thilly-moo-moo-cow ... most if not ALL here on the board would KILL for your hair- its thickness, colour, texture & length ... so I'll have no more talk of jealousy - ya hear - you have a wonderful & safe day / week my friend, way over there in Israel cheers CEM. (◡‿◡✿)
Hi CEM,
Wow! You have a mane to die for! The color and thickness have me flabbergasted! I thank you so much for the morning jolt of inspiration! What a way to start the week! Could you please tell me your wash routine? I want hair like that:)
Great week to you my friend!
Ted
Heya Teddy - you are the kindest man, with the biggest heart & a good soul - thank you for your kind words - the colour & texture is due to my Viking roots & I love wearing it in a plait a lot these days: < searches for my Viking Hat > hehehe ... I'm 47 & am yet to go grey: ( again thanks to my gene-pool: ( as my Mum, whom is 77. yrs. old, has not one grey hair on her head ) ... my wash routine: ( embarrassed to say ) = I can go 1 - 2 weeks without shampoo wash - but when I do I use an anti-dandruff shampoo applied to scalp only: ( it just keeps my scalp healthy & clear ) - then I rinse after about 5. mins. so the suds roll down the ends. - 2ndly I apply an anti-dandruff conditioner to scalp only & I apply a regular conditioner to the lengths = this stays on for about 10. mins: ( I wash my hair on days I'm not rushed = so its a pamper day for me ) - I use coconut oil treatments every 1 - 2 months - I use a dry shampoo: ( on days I feel my scalp looks oily ) - I always brush knots out before washing: ( I learnt the hard way, when I had this knot-ball, several months ago, that I had to rip out, in the end, as it was just hopelessly knotted & was not brushing out - this occurred because I washed my hair before brushing = NEVER AGAIN WILL I DO THIS = the price was too high ) ... I never use heat appliances, colourants, gels & never rub it dry = just blot & then put my hair turban on ... thx. again Teddy for your kind thoughts, words & sentiments - have a magical day ! cheers CEM. :O)
Hi CEM,
Ha! You look much more comfortable than me! Right now I have about 2 more hours left on dialysis. And you are looking very good for 47 I must say! Your parents have certainly blessed you with some super genes! I really appreciate you sharing your routine. I may have to try that on my hair even though it still isn't very long:)
Please keep those wonderful updates coming! One of these days hopefully I can be an inspiration also! Slowly but surely we will all get there! I am having much fun on the journey though!
And I send you wishes also for a magical day my friend! My magic won't begin until I get off dialysis:) Your kind words are certainly heartfelt here! I just love this board and all the members! Wouldn't want to be without you all!
Ted
Ted - You got a great spirit about you... just wanted to say...
and CEM - great hair - beautiful hair - thanks for sharing your photo
Hi Fitz,
You don't know how much I truly appreciate your kind words my friend! And I am so happy you took time out of your day to say them! It's things like this that keep me going! Must press on! Just a little thought: being patient while growing my hair has helped me remain patient while waiting for a kidney transplant. Life is and always will, be good!
Great week to you my friend! And thanks again!
Ted
Heya Fitz - agreed in full re: Teddy ...
... & thank you & your very welcome ...
Cheers CEM. :))
Hi CEM,:Ha! You look much more comfortable than me! Right now I have about 2 more hours left on dialysis ... One of these days hopefully I can be an inspiration also! ... Ted
Dear Teddy - you already are a great inspiration to us ALL - more than you could ever know & fathom - so thank you for that *tilts hat* ...
Let me join in on what CEM just said... Teddy, long hair or no hair, you are a true, living inspiration to us all. Keep that chin up and that positive attitude going, my friend... they're contagious!
Hi Raul,
Thanks so much for the truly kind words my good friend! I really appreciate your posting them here! As I told CEM, I shall go forth, grow my hair, and serve as a goodwill ambassador for longhairs the world over!
May all longhairs throughout the world keep their chin up and maintain a positive attitude! And the positive attitude must be maintained even through the awkward stage! Just look at the crazy hair and smile! Because one day a beautiful long mane shall spring forth! And I might add that if you also keep your chin up-your hair will even appear longer! And with all that said-onward and downward my friends!
Thanks again my friend-much appreciated!
Ted
Hi CEM,
I sure do appreciate the hat tip my friend! I shall go forth and continue as I am. It certainly is very nice to know I am making a difference! I am enjoying my time away from the dialysis machine today! Tommorrow I will be back at it again:) One day at a time anything can be handled. Thanks again my good friend!
Ted
Hi CEM,
I forgot to ask: are those waves from braiding your hair all the time? I can't remember for some reason.
Ted
Hi teddy - those waves are natural: ( in the 1st pic. ) - but I do get plait-crimps too !!! ... they are slightly different !!! ( in the this pic. ) ...
Hi CEM,
Oh yes! Those are lovely waves you have! They go so well with the colors you have in your hair! Excellent pic my friend!
Ted
You VIKINGS have got it going on!
hehehe *gigglez* (◡‿◡✿) *blushes* = fankz !!!
cut it all off, put it in a carefully taped package, and send it to Norway! I WANT IT! =)
Dude, that is some fantasic-looking hair! DAYYYUUUM!
bwaaahehahehahehahe - LOL = 2 funny - thank you very much Raul: ( check ya letterbox ) ... *giggles* (◡‿◡✿)
Hi CEM,
What an outstanding mane you are blessed with, and the colour and thickness are excellent. Thank you for sharing.
Keep it growing,
David
... thank you very much David & your welcome - inspiration is catching & your mane has inspired me greatly throughout my journey = so therefore THANK YOU !!! :)) cheers CEM.
What an awesome mane.
I'm so f*cking jealous.
Hi Michail - thank you very much for your robust compliment ... hehehe ... may I say, there are sooooo many manes, I admire here on the board, for different reasons, too many to mention without my voice going hoarse - colours, textures, volume, lengths, waves, styles - the variety is endless & thank goodness for it ... but my message here is my desire for people to love & appreciate & be grateful for what they have, whether it be hair: ( gene-pool ), family, loved ones: ( chosen life partner ), career choice: ( job ), finances, & yes even their health status, their 'lot' & how & where they 'fit' in the world ... the reason I've gone down this tangent, is my dismay of how humans treat each other, the shocking violence & cruelty we inflict on each other & its escalating presence, growing exponentially day by day & most of it fueled by jealousy & envy: ( the coveting of what others have for themselves ) - my desire is a spiritual one & quite possibly an idealist & unattainable one - but for ALL of humanity to be more grateful, content & more appreciative for what they DO have: ( as opposed to being resentful & full of hate for what they DON'T have ) ... 'Yoni' uses the word too & I'm gently guiding him not to use it: ( love you Yoni ) (◡‿◡✿) ... so thank you one & all for your compliments & for listening to me on this fine day & have a week full of wonder cheers CEM . :))

Your hair looks fantastic. I had no idea it was that long. It is really thick too. It reaches your waist. What is your goal length?
Scott
Hi Scott - thanks heaps for saying ! - yes: ( as the iconic 'Ken SF' says ... 'its ticklin' me butt-crack' ... hehehe: ( well maybe not those words exactly *grin* ) - I'm trying for 'past my butt' or terminal length - I'm 4. years, 2. months & 6. days into my journey - but whose counting ... hehehe ... thx. again for your compliment, much appreciated have a great day cheers CEM. :))
Hey again CEM.
On a more serious note, brother... I would want to thank you for posting these pictures, again.
In the last few days I've been having a rather tough time with my hair, being a bit demoralized by the obvious awkward stage I am fully in right now (soon to be 9 months of growth). Volume, fluffiness and curling.... it ain't looking good at this length.
Point is, your hair is actually one of the few I actually can honestly look at, see all the curls and waves, and call BEAUTIFUL!
I would really appreciate it if you could perhaps post a picture of you from around 6 years ago, with shorter hair, for me and the rest of us to be able to see how it looked back then, in comparison to now.
Anyways, thank you, my friend. There is always hope, I guess :)

Raul - what lovely words & thank you + you're so welcome ... may I say re: your 9. month awkward stage ... 1stly you would be 'model' handsome bald & in a hessian bag: ( that was a compliment in case you did not notice ... hehehe ) ... I so loved my awkward stage & its ever changing face - I loved the fluff, curl & total unruliness - you actually are making the most of it - I've seen your pics. of wonderful, creative & very attractive styles - I'm a 'lurker' too you know - I post based in my mood & schedule - but just know you are right on track both visually & mindset - you are playing, experimenting = having fun - & good as you should - the day we stop having fun is the day we are 6 foot under ... just know also most people would kill for volume, fluffiness & radical curls ... you are well on your way to 'head-turning' - in fact you already are ... cheers bud & have a great week in beautiful Norway CEM.
I got that, of course, and I appreciate the gesture!
Awkward stage mopheads FTW baby! :P
Damn, bro... that was one kind and cheerful comment, thank you so much for your kind words! :)
It really is a tough pill to swallow sometimes, this long hair journey. I mean, I actually used to work as a model (and very seldom still do) and people used to compliment me all the time. Nowdays, all I hear is "why won't you get a haircut, you looked sooo much better before"....
And it really won't sway my mind off this whole long hair goal again, not at all, but one definitely wants to look their best at all times, and I really hope that once I get there (and what is THERE, really?) I will be happy with it.
Either way, I know that if I will not be happy with the way my hair looks, I will definitely go ahead and both dye and chemically alter it in order to make it look the way I want to, and if even that won't work, I am even considering dreadlocks, something I've always found extremely fun and different, in a good way :)
Either way, tons of time and hours, days, months and years to put into this yet, and that is perhaps the most important goal of them all, patience during the journey.
3 pics attached. One is me in 2008 at the longest hair I've ever had mark, the other is me around 2 years ago while modeling, and the third is me today. Care to guess which is which? hehe
But damn, I love Jason Castro's locks!
Maybe if and when I get tired of plain long hair sometime, who knows :)
Well, Raul - if you require a compliment occasionally, keep posting your pictures - because as CEM mentioned - you are "model" handsome - and since you were a model, you know that already... but, you got it, man - you got good looks, nice hair at any length and a fun personality - whoa! 3 strikes!
Hi Fitz,
As a Baseball fan I just have to say I'm not sure how-but those three strikes are a Home Run in my book! I just couldn't resist-Raul is certainly the complete package. Plus, he's a teacher-Grand Slam!
Ted
Hehe... you guys are cracking me up, but thanks!
Appreciate it, Fitz!
Now I just wish the ladies would agree with you, hehe...
Come on Raul! I just know the girls are knocking your door down trying to get in! And your hair isn't long enough yet! Just prepare for the onslaught buddy! You just don't know what's in store, do you? You shall find out! (Hmmm...model material with long hair...go figure) Some guys have all the luck! Hehe:)
Ted
Great attitude as always, Ted! Gotta' love that about you! :)
And I have to admit, having my female co-workers gather around to braid my hair, even the little of it I have at the moment, is rather fun. Should be really great being able to release a bun and have flowing hair down my back :)
Now THAT is what I call awesome hair - full, loose and magnificent! Nice going, dude!
Damon
----------------------------------------------------
Thank you so much Damon - very much appreciated ! - cheers bud ! CEM. :))
.... and a TERRIFIC "mop" it is!
Keep it growin' & flowin', your hair is a real inspiration here!!!
- Ken in San Francisco
Ken = your humour is priceless !! = here take this, ewe fiend
Hi CEM,
I forgot to ask you. How long does it take you to completely air dry your beautiful mane? Inquiring minds want to know!
Ted
... about half dry ... Hi CEM, I forgot to ask you. How long does it take you to completely air dry your beautiful mane? Inquiring minds want to know!: Ted
... well Teddy = I have my hair in a turban: ( as you saw ) for about 1/2 an hour to 1. hour - then I just let it out - shake it & then probably about 2. hours maybe 3. to be fully dry: ( see its the underneath layers that take ages to dry + ( I'm personally anti-heat ) - but its never an issue - if in a hurry I shuck it up in a pony wet or plait it wet + if I have to go to bed ( sleep ) - I put a towel on the pillow to absorb extra moisture - so I don't wet the pillow ...
