Alright everybody,
I thought I would post a couple pics of my current length. I apologize that I don't have model looks like someone. I won't mention any names... Raul. Slowly but surely I'm making progress. Waist length seems to be an eternity away though.
I am calling this around 12 months from a standard men's hairstyle/cut. This is my hair the day after washing with shampoo/conditioner. I don't think it appears as shiny because I used a strengthening conditioner. Finally the front part is down to my chin or so. Hair is starting to lay behind shoulders better now. Thanks for your inspiration and help in growing everybody!
Ted
Here is the front view.
Well, Ted - Congratulations in achieving the one year anniversary... Your hair looks great. I like it a lot. I can't wait till Christmas, as much as I hate to see time pass quickly - it will be my 1 year anniversary then - you inspire me to keep going...
As some have said, now maybe you can just enjoy the process and stop waiting and watching for the water to boil... You are official, now!
If you don't mind me asking, what is your age?
Hi Fitz, Not aproblem. On July 4, 2013 I turned the ripe old age of 47. However, I still feel like I am younger. And the longer my hair gets, the younger and younger I will feel!
Ted
10 years younger than me! I thought you looked like a young man!
Hi Fitz,
Well, if you're 10 years older than me, I would have never guessed it! You look much younger than that to me! I do, however, appreciate your very kind words! I don't feel my age that's for sure! Please stay young my friend!
Ted
Watching hair grow takes MUCH longer than waiting for water to boil -- and waiting for water to boil always seems to take "eternity" (especially when wanting your cup of coffee in the morning, like right NOW - LOL)....
Lookin' good there, Ted! Compare your current update pic with your avatar photo, and you will indeed realize that your hair has grown by leaps and bounds.
And speaking of "leaps & bounds"...
I swear, I firmly believe that August of 2012 was just "yesterday"; so rest assured you are indeed making amazing progress there!!
"Onward & Downward!"
- Ken
Hi Ken,
I thank you kindly for your very nice compliments! Thanks to you and the MLHH members' inspiration I am getting there! I am definitely enjoying my hair more every month that passes! Finally I can feel it brushing on my back when it's dry. I will probably change the avatar photo when I hit mid-back length.
I sure hope you got that cup of coffee soon after you posted this! I know what you mean about waiting for the coffee! I stand there watching my coffee maker waiting for the first pot to brew! It is torture I tell you! Thanks again for your kind words! Have a great week my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Great progress, the first part of the growing journey is over now because you look like a longhair now. Next step is the ponytail and having hair flowing over you back.
Don't worry about how your hair looks, it looks awesome!
Keep up the good work and looking forward to your future updates.
Vincent
Hi Vincent,
I thank you kindly for your very nice compliments! I am happy to hear I look like a longhair now. It's funny because I feel like my hair is getting longer. But when I look at it in a picture it just looks so short to me! I can't wait to be able to make a full, nice ponytail. That will be a great day! Also, I amdefinitely looking forward to hair flowing down my back!
Of course, I always look at yours and the other members' pics in the directory for inspiration. It keeps me going and reminds me why I should keep growing. Thanks again for your nice reply! Hope you have a wonderful week my friend!
Ted
Great job, Teddy! And congrats on your 1 year hair-journey anniversary! :D
As Vincent already said, you are definitely officially a longhair now, and it must feel great! You have always done a great done in leading by example, with treating your hair with the most minimalistic, and yet natural way of TLC! And the results are showing! :)
Are you aiming for terminal length, or is waistlength the goal for now?
Hi Raul,
I thank you kindly for your very nice compliments! My hair is definitely coming along! I always try to keep experimenting with different routines of care. It is definitely interesting to see the different "moods" my hair can have! On wash days it gets all fluffy and fly-away. Then as I go a few days without washing it gets nice and smooth and lays better. So, I have cut down washing with shampoo almost to only 1 time per week.
You have been inspiring me to keep growing as well as the other members of MLHH. Your hair is going to look just lovely at longer length! I have been watching your updates with great interest!
As far as length goal, I am aiming for waist length if my hair genes allow me to get there. I will probably want to grow longer once I get there if my hair is not to difficult to handle. I know some people say that hair longer than waist is very difficult to deal with. I will accept it as a challenge to keep tangle free etc. I just love men with extremely long hair.
Thanks again for the very nice reply! Hope your week is wonderful my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Congrats to you for making so far, Your hair is LONG!
Hi Christian,
Many thanks for your very kind compliments! As I told another member, when I look in the mirror my hair seems so short! But with much patience we get there! I sometimes gt frustrated with my nhair believe me! I'm still looking for the super growth stuff! But growing long hair just wouldn't be the same without the different interesting stages! I have seen my hair's many different moods and personalities. It has more than I do! Hehe:)
Thanks again for the kind words! Hope you have a wonderful week my friend!
Ted
Looking in the mirror is like watching water boil, lol. I feel the same way! Have great week Ted =)
Christian
Congrats on 1 year Ted. Wow there is a huge difference in this photo from your avatar photo! I know what you mean about it taking sooo long to see progress. I'm contemplating waiting acouple of months before photographing mine again so I can see the progress :)
I'm jealous that your able to keep your hair off to the sides like that. Mine ALWAYS falls down into my face, which is super annoying! Maybe that extra 1.5" is all I need to be able to tuck behind the ears?
-Tommy
Hi Tommy,
Many thanks for your very kind compliments! Yes, I will have to change that avatar photo when I hit mid-back length. It's good to have it like that to remind me of my progress though. It's kind of like watching a pot and it never boils:) Patience is handsomely rewarded in the hair growing business.
That's interesting you are jealous about how my hair stays off to the sides! That is the main thing I don't really like about my hair! No matter what I do, it just does that! I believe it is because your hair is more straight than mine. Also, there might be adifference in our thicknesses/textures. I'm pretty sure when you get more length you will love your hair and it will stay tucked behind your ears. Just hang in there and I do believe you will be pleasantly surprised!Believe me, I am very jealous of your hair type!
Hope you have a wonderful week my friend!
Ted
The first year is always the longest. Believe me, the longer you grow it you out, the faster time will pass by. It's a matter of perception. If you would have paid no attention to your hair while growing it out, you would have been surprised at how fast it grows.
Anyways, it looks pretty damn good and it will look even better when it's all at one length. I'm sure of that.
Hi Michail,
Many thanks for your very kind compliments! You are correct about the first year!I think each person has a certain length where they are satisfied and the impatience is not as bad. Once I hit mid-back legth, I will be content enough to quit looking in the mirror so much! By then, in my mind, I will be a true long hair. Even though a lot of people think anything past shoulder length on a man is long. Pooey on that!
I do thank you for the " it looks damn good" remarks! I may have to start trimming just a little bit in the back to make a nice hemline. Believe me, I will think before I do that though. Probably will wait until I get to at least mid-back length. And also, I am jealous of your hair! The color and texture is just perfect! I definitely look forward to your future updates!
Hope you have a wonderful week my friend!
Ted
Hey Ted.
I have to agree with your statement. I think I will start not looking in the mirror so much when my hair has finally reached chest length. Actually, a lot of people in this ignorant, intolerant society think that man with hair that surpasses their ears are long haired. Let that sink in for a moment. I also believe that many of us have at least once in their life referred to as "the guy with the long hair" or "the long haired one". Yeah, because that really defines us, doesn't it?
No problem. I actually like the way it looks, even if it's not my favorite kind type of hair.
That doesn't sound like a bad idea, but when you reached that length, think about the two week rule.
I never thought someone would ever be jealous of my hair. I also start liking it, but still wish it was a bit straighter.
My next update would have to be on my birthday (January) as that would be 6 months from my first time posting here.
Looking great, Ted! You're really closing in on the fun stage now. Every day you will be enjoying it more. Just relax and savor the journey, my friend!
Hi Jason,
Many thanks for your very kind remarks! It is definitely getting to be more fun now with the longer length. Sometimes I think the journey is the most fun part! That's why we have to keep making longer goals! I am definitely savoring the journey! It is getting better since my hair is starting to sit behind the shoulders more.
I do think you and Joao David have the same type of hair I do. So if that is what I have to look forward to, I can't wait! You guys have wonderful wavy long hair which keeps me inspired to grow longer and longer! I am just going to try not to pay much attention and hopefully another year will fly by. Then I will have something to talk about!
I hope you have a great rest of the week my friend! I have been really enjoying your photos on Facebook. That is one cute son you all have!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Congrats on 1 full year of growth, and thank you for sharing your excellent update! Your hair is thick and in good condition, and looks better and better as the months fly by. Just imagine where you will be with another 12 months of growing!
Keep it growing,
David
Hi David,
Thanks so much for your very kind compliments! I must tell you that I am in fact enjoying my hair quite a lot now! It is starting to fall better without all the poofiness. Of course I have along way to go! I am pretty sure at mid-back length it will sit very nice and feel good. You are correct about the thickness-which sometimes drives me crazy! I just extend the time between my washes to make it lay flatter and seem thinner.
I can only imagine how much hair I will have after another 12 months! I do know I will be very happy with my hair. I am just so curious about how wavy it will be. Waist length here I come!
Hope you have a wonderful week my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted,
That's fantastic that you've reached the one year milestone with your hair journey as that shows you in it for the long haul. Now all you need to do is build on that and before you know it you'll be at two years! Of course you hate to rush the passage of time but that's just the way it goes with growing your hair long.Much success in your future growth my friend.Cheers
Mârk
Hi Mark,
Many thanks for your very kind compliments! I am definitely enjoying the journey of growing my hair. It seems like every day it wants to do something different. Depends on what kind of shampoo or conditioner I use. I haven't really been using products because I don't really like stuff in my hair when it's long.
I can't wait to get to the 2 year mark! By then I should be really close to my first goal of mid-back length. I think I might grow it to waist and maintain it there. I am really hoping to be able to have a straight across blunt hemline. One time I saw a guy with hair almost to his knees at a restaurant. He had the ends cut straight across and it was just lovely. Of course, his hair was black and just as straight as could be. I was very jealous! Thanks again for the well wishes for growth my friend!
Ted
