Hello everybody,
In November of 2012, I decided to grow my buzz cut OUT. I have had short hair since the early 90's and love to have my hair faded. I would literally get hair cuts every week and sometimes twice a week. Over the years, I've had friends and have seen other guys with long hair and always admired the look. So, like many others I decided to grow out my hair and failed miserably more than a couple of times. After a couple of months when my hair started looking funny I would just cut it.
Well, I wanted this time to be different and it has so far. I have 8 months of hair growth under my belt and this is the longest I have ever grown my hair (except when I was 4 yrs old and parents let my hair get shoulder length)! lol. But anyways I have been documenting my journey on YouTube and have met a lot of great people who are also going through this hair journey with me. One of those people (Raul) actually referred me to this site. I am looking forward to hearing about everybody's and hopefully picking up some good tips. If anybody is interested I'll put a link to my YouTube Channel below.

My YouTube Channel
Welcome aboard, Christian, my friend! :)
Great to see you've finally taken the opportunity to introduce yourself here and become a member of this great board! You will not find a more supportive, positive bunch of long haired (as well as aspiring and ex long haired) dudes on the entire world wide web!
Been following your hair journey from the start, seeing as I also have gotten my last haircut last November (27th, to be percise), and so, I think it's really fun comparing lengths, problems, inspirations and what not with you on your channel!
I have tons of respect for you, since I know how tough it is to go through the awkward stage with wavy and curly hair, and yours is much curlier than mine. The beautiful thing though, is that in the end, I am pretty sure you will end up with a great Sean White look of red curls, which is going to look totally awesome! :)
Welcome aboard man, again! Good to have you here! We are soon about to his the 1st year mark, how awesome is that? :D
This is a very cool site, thank you for referring me here and for the warm welcome. Everybody here is sticking with it, so that will be a great encouragement to me. It's tough watching some of the guys on YouTube fall off around month 6.
Sean White is rockin The curls! that would be cool if I ended up with a style like that! Making it a year would be a HUGE accomplishment. I'm looking forward to watching everybody continue on, catch up with you later Raul!
Welcome! It sounds like I'm within a month of you in my quest for longer hair as well. I'll definitely check out your Youtube videos, I think its cool to see progress in video form!

Hi Tommy,
Your hair is looking really good from the picture. My hair definitely doesn't hang like that. In fact, if you watch one of my videos you will see that the longer my hair gets (especially in the back),it looks shorter because the curls get tighter and start pulling upward! We'll see what happens with time =)
Congrats to you on making it this far and thank you for the welcome!
Christian
Hi Christian,
Welcome to the board! You have certainly come to the right place for inspiration and long hair camaraderie! I must say you have some lovely hair! I just can't imagine how it will look when it gets longer! The color and curliness is just awesome! Please keep it growing! I will be watching your updates both here and on Youtube. Hope you have a wonderful week my friend!
Ted
Thank you for the warm welcome Ted. I will be doing my best to continue on this journey. Talk with you later!

Christian, you have an awesome head of hair! It is beautiful and looks great on you. Tell me... Did you know you had curly hair before you finally stopped the routine fades? I can't imagine not loving that hair of yours - I love curls - my dad and uncle both had curly hair but I didn't inherit it at all. So, I greatly admire your looks and your progress... thanks for coming on board here to show us!
Thank you so much for the compliment. I knew my hair was curly/wavy when I was 4 or 5 by looking at pictures. But, really didn't expect it to be like this. It seems like I have straight, wavy, and curly hair! It's strange, and I'm anxious to see what will come of it all. Maybe your kids or Grand kids will someday inherit your Dad's and Uncle's curls!
Thank you for the warm welcome, I'm looking forward to sharing and watching others as they progress on through!

Your long haired bro,

Thank you for the warm welcome, and the encouraging words! I'm really looking forward to the months to come and learning what I can from everybody here. until next time =)

Christian, just wanted to say, "Welcome." You've got a great start going and it's going to really be cool to see what your hair does when it gets longer and the weight of it starts pulling it down. You've got a lot more curl than I do and I would bet you end up finding out that it looks great long and curly. Best of luck to you!
Steve
Hi Steve,
Thank you for welcoming me. I am really interested to find out what happens when I get more weight also. At this point, I've learned to enjoy the ride and go with the flow =) I'm really glad I stopped by because you guys are great group of people.
Christian
