Can anyone here tell me why the only bands these days that actually have long hair(other than the occasional long haired guy in a different band with "longish" or short haired guys)seem to be only bands like this?

Perceived fashion and trying to set a trend and look different. Few have any musical talent or quality nowadays compared with the 1960s/70s and are simply manufactured by record companies so need to adopt some other façade as part of their act.
Part of it too is the music industry is going though tough times
right now, music sales are down, so it is harder for talent
to break into the industry. Whether that is due to internet
downloads, the quality of the music, etc. is a matter of debate,
but the bottom line is fewer talent is able to make it. So maybe they feel they have to have short hair to enhance their chances at getting signed? Or maybe they are just rebelling
against the notion of long haired musical acts.
Music sales are down and the reason for that is a matter of debate. Also long hair is not in fashion now, as it was in the 60s and 70s. But then for this 58 year old long hairred hippie
fron Albany long hair never went out of style which is why my
long hair is still long. (I started growing my hair in 1964,
and was one of those long haired hippies from the 60s. Now 49
yesrs later i've still got long hair.)
