Has anyone ever used baking soda on their hair to wash it? Thinking about just washing my hair with only baking soda from now on and getting rid of harsh shampoos with chemicals in them! This should keep my hair from drying out as much.
Some say that it is not a good idea, that it will damage
your hair. Others say it is great. Anyone what the truth is?
Baking soda is alkaline and needs an acid to neutralize the scalp's pH levels. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is great for that, it restores pH levels back and conditions the hair, just use it after you rinse the Baking Soda and leave it for 3 minutes then rinse it.
Using only Baking Soda is not a good idea.
Hi Mark,
I really think this is something you need to experiment with. you won't know how it affects your hair until you try it. I do know that shampoos usually are harsh. Please don't damage your wonderful hair!

I would avoid it. Alkali makes the cuticle (scales) on the hair shaft stick out, making hair very rough. Acid (diluted apple cider vinegar) closes the cuticle, making the hair smooth.
