When you look at this picture, you can see that my facial hair is a lot lighter than the hair on my head. Have been in the process of growing the goatee into a bull beard again. In your opinion, does it matter that the colors don't match? Sounds dumb, I know. But, I want to know.
Steve
Of course it doesn't matter. Facial hair is typically a different texture and colour to head hair. Adds interest!
My own head hair is dark brown but my facial hair, should I choose to grow it, has a strong tinge of ginger. The reason I don't grow it is not because it's a different colour but simply because I hate beards! :)

Certainly doesn't bother me...pretty common for them to not match.
Yes it is pretty common not to match.
Earlier his summer my razor badly needed new blades. Since the manufacturer opted to eliminate half the blades in replacement
blades i held off until our tax free weekend to get a new
electric razor. In the meantime I grew a beard and while my hair
is mostly grey now my beard was mostly white.
Well i finally got a new razor so now the beard is gone.
BTW, even though the beard is gone the hair is still long (and grey).
My beard is a different color than my hair. I think it looks good!!
Hi Steve,
Well I'll only speak for myself but my beard in its natural state was a mix of brown, white and gray.Ever since I made the decision to henna my hair I really wasn't liking that stark difference of my red hair and the mixed beard so I hennaed my beard too! lol.Had I not hennaed my beard I may have chosen to shave it all off as I haven't been clean shaved in over 10 years! So really its your own personal preference but in your case I think the contrast works for you:)Cheers

There is no option for 45 degrees Mark! n/t
Hey Bill, yea leave it to me to take an artistic, angled pic that I had no idea would show up until posted!lol.Maybe I should have just left it the way it was and said that's the way I took it;)

Hey, you'll get your chance to critique our photography! Larry's put together quite a few from our trip back to your neck of the woods - there will be about 800 of them to go with the one above. We should have them on line within a week.
Bill
Hi Bill,
I love your subject line as longhair is a great way to orient the disoriented! LOL. Yes, if you don't know which way is up just locate the first longhair you can find,if not yourself, and the hair will show you where the earth is:)It's points right down to it!
I'm looking forward to the photo gallery from your trip Bill:)You went on an amazing trip I could only dream of at this point in my life. It'll be cool seeing the pics from when we were together as well as all your other adventures.Cheers

Here is how my beard looked before I colored it:)
Man, Mark - you look great no matter which way you go... brown, blond, grey, red - sideways, upsidedown - you got it going on.
Great pic. Mark = I love that photo of you. cheers bud CEM. :O)
Keep in mind that when white hair sun-bleaches, it turns blond. The eye tricks one into thinking a beard or mane is all one color, but if you put the tips up by the roots, you will be surprised at the difference. Your beard is not long enough to have older hairs in it, ones that have been around long enough to get sun-bleached. If you were to grow your beard out as long as your mane is, it may look much closer to the same color as your mane.
I'm not saying you should grow your beard out that long, or that you actually can. But I can say that my beard comes out at its roots white like yours does, and it is long enough that its tips are quite blond. This only becomes obvious if I hold the tips up next to the roots.
I noticed this when I was putting on my hat once. The hat has a chin string. To get that string under my beard, I twist my beard and stick it in my mouth, put the string under my chin, and then open my mouth to let go. While my beard was in my mouth, this put its tips right up by my mustache and other short beard hairs. I said to myself, "Wow, my beard has lots of colors in it, and a major one is blond!"
We think of sun-bleaching making hair lighter, but I was surprised to see that if you have white hair, the sun makes it darker! You can see this in Ken Gourley's hair here:

This photo screams out for these lyrics:
"Loving the free and feelin' spirit
Of huggin' a tree when you get near it
Diggin' the snow and rain and bright sunshine
Draggin' the line (draggin' the line)
I think the hair and beard look great. I'd keep it the color it is now.
I think my beard is a lot greyer than my hair, and my beard is much greyer at the sides than in the middle. Even if I henna my hair (I used to, and keep threatening to do so recently) I don't see how it would match. I have long hair and a short beard, so they might match to begin with, but once I trimmed my beard they wouldn't. I am very unlikely to bother to regularly re-dye my beard.
Back when I was in college, when none of us had grey hair, I knew 2 guys with mismatched beards. One guy, called Gavin, had blond hair and a red beard, but I barely knew him and haven't seen him for years. The other, named John, was a close friend and had long blond hair and a dark beard. I'm afraid last time I saw him he had short hair :( and was bald on top, but his hair matched his beard - it was all white!
I wouldn't worry about it. There are so many guys out there, myself included, whose hair and beards are different colours. I have fair hair, but most of my beard is pretty dark apart from two fair bars that run from the corner of my mouth down to my chin.
One of my lecturers at university had very fair hair and a dark red beard. I have a cousin who has dark hair and a grey beard.
We're all different. Just enjoy being yourself.
Hi Steve, My two cents worth: Willie Nelson is a great example of a celebrity who has the red hair and white beard combo and looks great! Always have marvelled how some guys can keep their original hair colour on top and have completely white beards, whereas others have the white hair and original beard colour. Just makes it look a bit more interesting I think with the contrasts.
Cheers,
Duncan
Heya OKCdude!
Let me join the others here in saying that the different colors on the beard and hair make no difference whatsoever! It's completely natural, and a great look, man! Be EXACTLY the way YOU want to be, whether it's long/short/purple/dreaded hair, or white/orange/no beard at all! All up to you and what your heart desires :)
Thanks for your input, although I guess it was a stupid question.
Steve
Hi Steve,
You look fabulous! I wouldn't change a thing! Just keep growing and growing! By the way, the only stupid question is the one you never asked! I learned this a long time ago! Great week to you my friend!
