Hey, I've been growing my hair for about a year now. Still not quite comfortable...
Anyway, it seems my hair in the back looks to be a wee shade darker than the top and sides, and, of course, it's longer. I'm thinking I want to even it out. I seem to remember some advice somewhere saying not to do this. What do you all think I should do?

I was forced by circumstances to even out the back after a year. I hate it! Its not so bad at the begining, but you get a bunch of problems.
1- I WAS able to tie, not anymore.
2- It already looked long. I lost it.
3- It brings you into other problems. Like with shampoo. Most of my hair is about 8 inches. the back is cut. and the hair close to the neck is much shorter. If I don't shampoo, it gets greasy as hell. but I can't shampoo the rest because of obvious reasons. The hair coming from the top of the head is affected too, if I attempt to shampoo the shorter hair. Its a nightmare.
Do not even out until its all past your shoulders!! please
Thanks, man, this is what I needed to hear. :) Sorry you had so many troubles. --Ambrose
