At the mall tonight - I rarely go to the mall, but was there tonight - I couldn't believe how many guys - of various ages and hair styles - several young guys with pretty long hair - to mid-back and longer on a couple guys. One guy with dreadlocks - thought of Raul when I saw him... All in all, I thought - man, I need to get out more often
I notice that to lol..
So nice that you thought of me, Fitz! hehe... though at the moment, it's more likely a dude with an afro should remind anyone of me, not one with great dreadlocks :P
I too am fascinated each time I see long haired dudes, turn my head and check out their manes. Gets a much better reaction from my girlfriend, than if I should do the same to check out some chicks, so it's really a win-win situation! :D
What sort of styles/colors/lengths dominated, from your trip to the mall, buddy?
Hey Raul,
Im happy to hear about your girlfriend.
I can totally relate about checking out the longhaired manes sported by other guys. I would always try to be as surreptitious as possible mainly for the benefit of the person Im looking at but, yeah, its better than getting caught checking out women when you're with your girlfriend (or wife). Im interested in long hair on women too, of course, and then Id always claim I was just looking at her hair! LOL
I do the same when I see someone riding a high-end road bike. I always whip my head around to see what brand it is and what components it has. Bike pron!
Jason
Hey Jason!
Thanks bro, it does feel really great feeling those butterflies in the stomach again, and this time, it's a really wonderful woman who loves my hair, especially when it's all poofy and curly! Go figure :D
I actually tend to look more at men's hair than women's, since I always compare theirs to mine, and both the hairlines, hairtype and thickness are things that are closer to me when looking at other guys' hair.
I too, btw, and a bike-porn dude, even though I don't ride myself. A bit too much SoA I guess, but I definitely turn my head when I see a great looking heavy bike passing me by down the road! :)
That's great to hear about your girlfriend. My ex-wife didn't like it when I started growing it long and it was a contributing factor in our demise. You have to be who you are and it sounds like your girlfiend is accepting you just that way. What a bonus that she loves your hair!
Yeah, she really is a MUCH different type of girl, when thinking about my ex, and I took your advice and told her right away on our first date, that I am planning on growing my hair long, and that I am interested and have a passion for long hair more so than the average guy... she really is a good one, buddy :)
Hi Raul,
I am very happy to hear of your girlfriend and how she likes your hair! Also great that you informed her of your passion for long hair up front. I do believe you have caught yourself a keeper my friend! Good on ya!
Ted
Congrats Raul, that is great news :) Hopefully you've found some good companionship! There really aren't many things better than sharing life with your best friend!

I'm glad to hear that she's a great match for you. I do believe you did the right thing to mention all that on the first date. If she was going to have problems with it, you'd know but now you've determined she's cool with it and you don't have to think about it.
Really, I think in some ways it presents an attractive side when you're right up front. This is who I am, I'm confident in myself and ashamed of nothing. No doubt she picked up on that vibe and responded well to it.
Most of the guys I saw were younger than me - actually, most of the people at the mall were younger than me - LOL...
One guy had light brown wavy hair that was not real thick, but it was a nice length - down to the middle of his back - the thing that caught my attention about him was that he wore it down loose and he carried it off well - he was casual in his jeans and tshirt - just really comfortable with himself. the guy with the dreads was thin and had those skinny jeans on that Mark sports so well - he has dark brown hair and his locks were down almost to his belt. Incredible - A few other guys had shoulder length - one guy was Asian. One guy had a pretty big afro which surprised me. It cool. I was looking around and taking in the sights - kind of surprised by the various styles I saw.
Absolutely love doing that, Fitz! Walking around, people watching... enjoying the fact that life has such great diversity in us, to offer :)
Must be an introverted trait, combined with a hair-nut trait... so yeah, I totally know what you mean there :D
Hi Fitzgarce,
Yes, I notice the same phenomena when I take one of my frequent trips into NYC,Manhattan in particular. With so many people about it doesn't take long to see a guy with longhair which ranges from many ethnic groups:)So with that you see many hair textures and interesting ways they style their manes.Guess you can say the eye candy is incredible! LOL Cheers

Since I started growing out my hair, I've definitely started to notice other hairstyles. I'm in Central, CA and out here you will see quite a few guys with long hair. Long hair is still the minority by far but not uncommon. There are a lot of the "mowhawk" styles going on which I like to look at but would never try out myself!
I too see many more male longhairs than I used to. Certainly compared to the 1990s where long hair fell to its nadir. I don't know if it had something to do with "nu-metal" at the time in which those bands largely eschewed long hair for some reason.
The members of Slipknot did have long hair, despite being Nu-Metal, but maybe you're right. Long hair was rare amongst Nu-Metal bands. It was either just short, bleached spikes, or in the awkward stage for the most time.
I feel like this past year I've been noticing more and more guys hair that I come into contact with. I often wonder when I see someone with long-ish hair if they are growing it out too? how long have they been growing it?
haha I think most of us have a little bit of hair obsession right now at least :)
