In late June and July we drove across the U.S. and back, following the nation's oldest paved transcontinental road, the Lincoln Highway. We saw MLHH users Mark (Hairball) in New Jersey and Rob in Illinois along the way and other friends. Of course we also saw lots of awesome scenery and other cool sites along the way.
Every American should drive across the country once, if for no other reason than to appreciate how BIG this country is; however the vast variety of terrain - the prairies, the mountains, the forests, the deserts, the towns big and small - will really blow you away when they unfurl before your eyes in one continuous month-long show.
The link will describe the Lincoln Highway, and the stream of pictures you'll find at the site will let you experience much of what we saw.
Enjoy!

Hi Bill,
I was waiting for this day to come when your trip finally was fully documented.I have not yet perused your photos but I will undertake that task soon.First off it was a great honor to met both you Bill, and Larry, on my home turf here in NJ.And yes, the Lincoln Highway grazes the edge of town here but funny how I knew of the name but until recently never knew its true history. One of the buildings I work in for my company is addressed on their signage as 2015 Lincoln Highway Edison,NJ.Well this building isn't old time like what you've seen but still cool knowing the highway was significant enough for them to mention it being it's also known as Route 27 which is what most people refer to it as.
So back to your visit as we covered so much in a couple day together by visiting NYC and the Jersey Shore. You had the distinct opportunity to see Asbury Park which may not look like much but has some fabulous history. Most notably it being the town where Bruce Springsteen got his start in the music biz.
Anyway thank you for including me on your adventure across the US of A as I can imagine it was a trip of a lifetime for your guys:)Cheers
Mârk
PS: Included is a pic of you guys before departing for New England.
That's really great, Bill! I traveled cross-country twice by car and it's definitely a learning experience and a lot of fun too. I took more main highways but remember very well traveling route 50 through Nevada aptly named "The Loneliest Road in America" as you captured in the photo. Haha, I remember also getting a speeding ticket just outside of Ely. I think I was going 82 in a 70 zone.
Thanks for sharing. It's fantastic to see all the traveling you two are able to do.
Thanks! I enjoyed the slides. It gives you a feeling for just how far it is.
