I really don't like the look of the split down the middle part on me, so I've been trying a couple different options the past month. I think I've landed on keeping my hair product free, but combing it over to 1 predominately,a side part...? Not sure if this is what its called but I'm not sure what else to call it.
Basically instead of combing it all back and letting it fall, which results in the middle split, I comb it from the left side all the over to the right. Just wondering what you guys think, an improvement? About the same? Yea, or meh?
I took this shot at lunch today, but its kind of hard to see the part, but you can get the general idea I suppose.
ARGH! what is up with my phone lately? everyone picture I take is crooked, but when I look at it on my computer its straight? Who knows :)
An explanation is in this post in the archives:
Why cell phone pictures show up sideways or upside down
Thanks Bill! I will be sure to experiment with this...

That looks fine.
Hey, Tommy! It looks good with a side part. Although I don't think it looked any wrong with a middle parting. Must admit, the hair suits you - you've got a right face for that combined with good hair type.
Serge.
Loks good. I also use a side part as it seems to suit me better, Though I did have the middle part for years, back in the 70s. Whatever makes you comnfortable is good.
Hi Tommy,
I like both the middle part and the side part. I think the side part is going to look even better when your hair gets longer. I do like your type of hair and wish mine was like that. Okay, just consider me jealous dammit! Great weekend to you and your family my friend!
Ted
Usually as hair gets longer it tends to gravitate naturally to a center part but during the earlier stages of growing, side parts are definitely an option. They both look good on you though I prefer center.
It looks good because from the pic you can't hardly see the part!
You look great, as always - your hair is really coming along to a nice length. Are you excited about the progress? Are you getting positive feedback? (other than from us guys?)
Hey Fitz, yes I am still happy with progress. I'm pretty impatient in general so a part of me wishes I was further along as I approach 10 months in about 2 weeks.
As far as feedback, I have been getting a lot of comments more than compliments from people I don't really know very well (like at work). Mostly just a "meh" reaction from my close friends and family. They all still prefer my previous short look because I "looked so much better" which I can't really blame them for, because the awkward stage I think most of us agree isn't the most flattering period of time.

Hi Tommy,
I would be willing to bet the meh reaction will go away when your hair gets longer. Please keep it growing despite that!
Ted
I agree with Ted - you are a good looking guy with great hair - right now they probably can't figure out why you are doing this, but once it gets longer, you will be the envy of a lot of people - women will be jealous because you will have nicer hair than they have - and men will be jealous because you have that young Robert Downey Jr thing going on - so keep going strong.
I am just passing the 8 month mark myself and I am amazed at how my hair looks. It keeps changing on a weekly basis, it seems. What worked a month ago isn't happening now - I'm just kind of embracing the process and the progress. Hope you are, too.
Hi Tommy!
While being a big fan of the side part myself, I can't really see yours there to see it's placement, which is a good thing, as Fitz says :)
I like my side part just where the eyebrow ends towards the middle of the forehead, so not completely and extremely on the side, though I do like your hair both with middle and the side part.
Looking good man, keep on growing! 1 year is at hands reach now!
Thanks for all the feedback guys, your positive comments are appreciated! Sorry this picture doesn't really clearly highlight what I was talking about, so I'll be sure to include something in my next big update! I believe I will continue to sport this style until I can come up with something else to try :)

Why, hello, Robt Downey Jr!
I agree, Ben!
Very handsome, contemporary look!
Hi Tommy,
I think that your hair looks good either way.
One thing I can say is that during the first couple of years of my own hair growing journey, I did have a very noticeable side part. I evetually settled on a centre part, although it still tends to favour "slightly left of centre".
Whichever way you go, keep up the good work with the growing!
David
I found this guy on Youtube, in this video his hair is about the same length as mine, and he is sporting the side part as well. Actually his hair look sot be a lot like mine overall!
You can really see the side part here
That looks just so great and I myself really do like the side part and how it looks for you. But this is just me. Best thing is that you can change whenever and still not have to do any haircuts for that. LOL :-) Beautiful long hair for sure.
Justin~
could probably not pull this off as something i walk around with all the time with too much hair but it makes for a fun pic
Gordy
Haha very nice! You look very mysterious.
-Tommy
A side part makes it harder to keep hair out of your eyes/face/mouth unless you grow it long enough to stay behind your shoulders or tie it back.
The advantage is that you can wear different parts during the day as the mood takes you and then change whenever you want.
Very nice look. I think i will steal/borrow it. ;-)
