Holy crap braiding your own hair is hard as crap.. I can french braid, under braid whatever with my Fiance's hair.. I tried mine for the first time today and could not get it lol.. She finally did it for me lol.. Braids kinda feel odd lol.. but I like It ;)..
Yes, I've never really been very good at doing a French braid on myself. Braiding from below the nape is easier. I decided the best way to get a good braid is to talk someone else into doing it for you.
Hi Mike,
I think doing a good braid takes practice. But also I would also believe hair type would have something to do with it.

Nice if you can find someone good to braid for you!
Self braiding is almost totally different from braiding someone else...the movements are different and working blind is hard. However, like the old joke "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?", "Practice, practice, practice!" and eventually the movements will make their way into your hands and you'll be able to braid with the best of them.
It does take a lot of practice. I can do herringbone, three- and four-strand braids on myself, but can't do a French or Dutch plait any more as my hair is just too long now. I end up with a tangled mess instead unless I get someone else to do it for me.
