I am 31 and wanted to grow long hair since i was young but due to the thoughts of negative comments of others i was afraid to. Now i don't care and want to put myself first and do what i want now. Because life is short and i dont want regret later in life if i ever go bald. But I am sick of others worrying about guys with long hair. I also don't understand why others obsess saying cut your hair or shave it since it's not their body. I do wish i would've grew it longer when i was younger instead of worrying what others think. I seen a youtube video on long hair advice and it's about a guy with long hair who is gay and he said a lot of gay men don't like long haired guys in dating and others tell him to cut it in another video he posted. I feel you should be accepted for who you are as a person and not judged based on long hair. I want to know why do others worry if a guy has long hair and make negative rude comments?
I gave up a long time ago worrying about what others think.
I wanted long hair so I started growing my hair long in 1964
after seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Now in 2013
my hair is still long. And every time I heard something negative about my long hair I took it as incentive to
grow my hair even longer. So I did, in the 80s it was knee
length, now it is nipple length (due to damaged ends) and will
be waist length hopefully in the future.
Hi Ryan,
I would highly recommend that you grow your hair if you want to. I definitely would not give a damn what others think. Your hair, your decision your business.
As far as people making rude comments, I think there are a couple of reasons. Either they are jealous or seem to think we need their approval. My parents raised me to keep my big mouth shut if I didn't have anything nice to say! I still do that to this day.

Personally I think its Jealousy I have never recieved many negatives only a few but always from male's. Not one from a female. As a matter of fact females say they like it all the time.
It's not just jealousy, some people are just freaked out by long hair, or they honestly feel they are helping you to look better or more presentable/acceptable by suggesting you cut; or they are abusive/haters looking for an excuse to hurt another person.
Rare as they are for me, I have gotten negative comments from straight/gay/women/men. I do get more positives from women, but I think this has more to do with culture than anything else. For what it is worth, women are not any more supportive of long haired women than men are of long haired men.
Ugh.
We are not here to decorate your world! Grow your hair for yourself.
The "Masses" are critical of ANY non-conformist appearance or lifestyle. For some reason it makes them insecure and doubt their Own validity as people. We just have to ignore them.sj
People should leave other people the f*** alone!
it's your hair, not theirs and whether you want to wear it long and straight, permed, or in a deathhawk or any other style it's none of their business!!
Amen to that, brother!
You know what they tell you about the masses... ignore them!
