Hi everyone,
I just wanted to thank you all for the thoughts and prayers! I returned home last evening and I would like you all to know everything went very well. The doctors said I was in excellent health other than kidney disease. So I am being kept on the list for a transplant.
On a side note, I asked the doctor if I had to cut my hair for the transplant surgery. He told me no. So it will continue to grow and hopefully I will have my waist length hair when I get my total health back. Certainly something to look forward to!
Also, I saw some long haired guys on my trip. There was a guy in my hotel with a nice tail to mid-back. There was also a guy with beautiful white hair in a mid-back tail. He was also a kidney patient. There were quite a few long haired guys walking around the VA hospital also. They were all different ages.
Even in the airport there was a good amount of longhair sightings. On my plane there was a band and two of the guys had long hair. One of the guys had really curly hair to about mid-back.
All in all a good trip, though I am happy to be back home. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

David
Hi David,
My apologies for the late reply! Yesterday I was trying to get back to normal. I had to go to dialysis and it took a lot out of me. I do appreciate your thoughts and prayers very much! As for my hair, I am going to do anything to keep my hair. I am having way too much fun growing it and watching how it turns out! Thanks again so much for your thoughts and prayers! Certainly means the world to me my friend!
Ted
Ted,
What great news on so many counts. I was hoping to see an update from you today. Good to hear such good things, to be in the company of longhairs, and to hear you get to keep growing your hair to your butt!!
...and it all happened in Nashville.
Tony
Hi Tony,
I apologize for the late reply! As I told David, I had to go to dialysis yesterday and it kind of knocked me down. I am so happy to hear you were looking for an update from me! Much appreciated! Yes, the trip went very well and I had fun talking to the different veterans at the hotel.
I was very happy to hear my health is excellent and I will stay on the transplant list. And that I don't have to cut my hair! And as you so awesomely said it, it all happened in Nashville." Way cool man! Thanks again for your concern as it is truly appreciated my friend!
Ted
Glad to hear you got a good report, Ted.
I am not surprised you saw a lot of long haired guys at the VA - seems our Viet Nam vets are confident and rebellious bunch of guys sometimes - and go for the flow.
Hi Fitz,
My apologies for the late reply! As I told the other members, I had to go to dialysis yesterday. It had been 3 days since my last treatment. Kind of knocked me down a little bit. I appreciate your kind words my friend!
Yes, there were probably a lot more long haired vets at the VA that I didn't get to see. Yes, I think the Viet Nam vets are a special breed. However, all vets are special to me. I thank you again for your concern as it is truly appreciated!
Ted

Hi Mark,
My apologies for the late reply! As I told the other members, I had to go to dialysis yesterday. It kind of took a lot out of me. I thank you so kindly for the nice wishes as I truly appreciate them! Yes, hopefully one of these days I will get the call. That will be a great day for me! Thanks again for caring so much my friend!
Ted
Very good to hear, Ted!
May it not be long before you are paired up with the kidney of your dreams :)
All of the very best to you, Oren
Hi Oren,
I apologize for the late reply! As I told the other guys, I had dialysis yesterday and it took a lot out of me. I thank you so kindly for your best wishes my friend! I hope it is sooner rather than later when I am paired up with that dream kidney:) It will be a happy day for me I know that! Thanks again so much for your wishes! Much appreciated!
Ted
Its always nice when you get good news. We all need some now and
again.
Hi MG,
My apologies for the late reply! I had to go to dialysis yesterday and I was knocked down a little. I do thank you for the reply as it is much appreciated! You are correct. We all could use a little good news once in a while! Thanks again for your concern my friend!
Ted
Heya Ted!
Really relieved to hear you are in great health, besides the kidney issue, and that you are still eligible for a transplant!
Also fun to read about your "rare breed sightseeing", as I happen to do the same! Always feel like complimenting the for their hair, but at the same time, most people would probably be freaked out about a total stranger approaching them with compliments on their hair, so I choose to keep quiet, hehe :D
Hi Raul,
My apologies for the late reply! I thank you so kindly for the thoughts my friend! I was very relieved myself to find I am still eligible for a transplant! The VA is very strict about transplants. My labs are always great and I try very hard to maintain good health.
Yes, I was definitely on the lookout for longhairs! I was feeling pretty good with my somewhat long hair. Still not quite long enough for me though! You would be surprised about complimenting strangers about their longhair. The vet that I was talking to at the hotel with long hair was cool. I could tell we had some unspoken compliments going on. When I shook his hand to leave, we exchanged some unspoken "man I like your hair" comments. It's very interesting how compliments don't always have to be spoken words. Awesome s**t I tell you!
Thanks again for your wishes!
Ted
Ted;
What wonderful news on the health front...I hope the wait for the transplant will not be too long.
Thanks for sharing that news and all the longhair sightings.
Walter
Hi Walter,
My apologies for the late reply! My dialysis treatment yesterday kind of knocked me down. I thank you so kindly for your wishes my friend! Much appreciated! Yes, there were some good longhair sightings. Next time I am going to make a point of complimenting them! Hopefully next time I will be very close to my waist length goal! It will be an awesome feeling having a new kidney AND waist length hair! Thanks again for your best wishes!
Ted
What great news, Ted! I'm relieved you're still in line for a transplant and other than the kidney problems, you're in good health.
I'm also always on the lookout for longhairs. I'm happy that you saw quite a view and interacted with some.
Hi Jason,
Thanks so much for your thoughts my friend! I truly appreciate them! Yes, I am also relieved to know I'm still eligible for a transplant! I would be in perfect health if it wasn't for the kidney disease. I just make the best of each and every day! And this board definitely helps me with that!
I have noticed that I look for other longhairs more since I have been growing my hair. We are a somewhat rare breed! Hopefully that will change in the not too distant future!
Thanks again for the well wishes my friend!
Ted
