I have kinda fine hair, and I know its not the best for growing long but I dont care ;).. Its about 3 inches below collar bone when pulled in front but it tends to puff out way to much expicially the ends. I have tried a couple things anti frizz stuff etc. But I usually just have to use the curling mousse and curl it up. the problem is I prefer it straight lol.. I do a deep conditioner once a week and get very small trims every 6 months.
Hi Mike,
I think my hair is similar to yours except mine is thicker. The way I take care of the puffiness is to stay away from any product which says "moisturizing or volume". The way I make my hair appear straighter is by using shampoo for normal hair and conditioner which says "strengthening" on the bottle. If your hair is naturally curly or wavy and you do deep conditioning, it usually emphasizes the curling. Of corse, your mileage may vary here. Hope this helps a little and welcome to the board! You will find a lot of great info here if you ask.
Ted
The products I am using right now: V05 Normal Balancing shampoo
V05 Herbal escapes pomegranate & grapeseed strengthening conditioner
Once every 4-6 months or whenever your hair feels flat you can "clarify" your hair with: V05 Herbal escapes kiwi lime squeeze clarifying shampoo. I would not recommend using clarifying shampoo more than every 4 months. It is very harsh.
about 3 years from a typical guy cut ;(..
Heya Mike!
You will be happy to know that fine hair is usually the easiest to grow to (and show) great length, and you have a really good hairtype for your longhair purposes! 😊
What usually works for me in the anti frizz department, is using a good argan maroccan oil after each wash, something that makes my hair both softer to the touch, as well as "heavier", which makes it seem straighter, and as a result, longer.
Here's a picture of me this morning, after a wash with shampoo & conditioner, then some of that liquid gold 😁
Hi Raul,
Well this pic is much better as the other one had me thinking you were using some heavy duty gel to maintain your hair against the forces of gravity!LOL.I have to say long hair is looking awesome on you even at such an early stage of your journey.Even if you were to maintain it at this length it looks great!I also like the way you trimmed your beard as that's very creative and looks way cool.I'm not very good at creating a look with my facial hair in such a fashion that resembles what you have done.Anyway you look fantastic and keep up the doing what your doing my friend:)Cheers
Mârk
Hi Mark!
Thank you for your kindness, brother! :)
No heavy duty gel was used during the taking of this picture, and the hair in this picure is 100% Raul... tons of volue, some wave, some curl, and really damn hot on a sunny day, I can tell you :P
I really am glad someone as yourself with truly long hair can look at me and call me a so called "Longhair", seeing as I am only at the 9 month mark yet, and I know I won´t be happy for at least another 2-3 years of growth, if not longer.
The facial hair is actually really fun to mess with, as I often try to go for the "David Beckham look", both in hair and facial hair, though the facial hair tends to grow rather qucikly, in comparioson to the hair on the top of my head, so it needs constant trimming, shaving at some parts, and just messing around with.
I am sure you could get creative with yours as well if you´d really want to, and you can always ask for suggestions from creative folks here such as Tony who always messes around with his facial hair for creating really cool, interesting looks! :)
Hi Raul,
Wonderful pic as usual buddy! Please keep that mane growing!
Ted
Thanks Teddy! :)
Hair is getting fluffier and fluffier, but thankfull also heavier and heavier with time, so it´s definitely starting too look more like medium length hair than just an upkept afro! :D
Hi Raul,
I understand what you mean! I just went and put some hair tonic on my hair to see what it would look like. I didn't really like how flat it made my hair look. It seems my hair is starting to try to lay flat now with the length. I'm thinking my hair is going to end up more straight the longer it gets. As long as it keeps growing I'm fine with that!
You don't worry about your hair. You look good even with your hair all messed up! I'm jealous of that:) I can't wait to see you with long hair again! You're just one cool dude! What can I say.
Ted
You´re too kind, Ted, but it´s always appreciated!
I very much so look forward to seeing your hair at a longer state, and see which one of us maintains most curls... have a very strong feeling that I am going to win that prestigeous title :P
Have a great day on, my friend!
Hi Raul,
Yes, that is the fun of growing our hair! I think the way my hair is going to look is with long waves which follow the length. Of course, there is nothing wrong with curls! I kind of wish my hair would be all straight with curls only at the bottom. I don't think that is going to happen for me though. You will look awesome with your hair long regardless of the curling, I assure you!
And yes, I hope you enjoy your day as well!
Ted
Any advice on what to do to tame it.. ;)..
Just curious. Did you read any of the responses to your question yet?
Ted
For some reason this got posted later than when I wrote it.. No need to be rude.
My apologies. I surely didn't mean to be rude. I try to be helpful when I can.
Ted
Sorry Ted, I jumped the gun you seem like a awesome guy ;)..
