Well, I'm basically an old-school guy in sense of music. Listen to (and actually play in a small hobbie-jam-band) lots of blues and rock from 60-80th, so the members of non-blues groups I listen to are usually very longhaired. A while ago 've been lurking around for someone playing in style of Allman Brothers or Lynyrd Skynyrd. And yeah, I stumbled across this modern band, Blackberry Smoke. I can't say I like everything they play (although I found a few songs I really dig), but damn, look at their appearance! These guys, all of them, have awesome long hair!
I remember JakeF asking whether there are only death-metal with longhaired members. So I decided to post this just to show that some modern bands are still keeping the tradition :)

Hi Serge,
Yes I have to admit it's refreshing to see some bands still having lots of long hair especially throughout the whole lineup:) When I used to go to clubs frequently during the 80s, when metal was actually mainstream here in the US,the manes on the guys in all the bands I've seen were incredible! Even the fans in the audience could have passed for band members themselves since everyone in the day dressed to the nines to reflect the image:)If I just so happen to go to a club today its such a disappointment seeing the sea of short haired guys in the audience and your lucky if at least one member in the band has longhair. This is especially true if these are old time rock/metal acts that are still playing out at the club circuit. The band in your link look and sound very cool so thanks for the link my friend:) Cheers

Huh, yes, probably it's a common tendency even for Eastern Europe. There were no any metal-clubs in Ukraine in 80th, but rock and rock'n'roll really lived in the underground, and lots of young guys grew their hair long as a sign of protest against the system. I didn't see it as I was born in 1992. Rock was popular in Soviet Union at the fall of the Soviet (late 80th) but the culture in the country changed a lot in just a few years after we got the independence. Rock remained only in the west of Ukraine. By the way, today is the 24th of August. The Day of Independence of Ukraine :)
I visited a concert of Uriah Heep at on of the local clubs, and yeah, didn't see many longhairs among the audience. Mainly those popular short haircuts or shaved heads. There is also another popular trend here, shaved head with a pretty long (maybe, chin-length) strand of hair falling from the top, like our cossac-ancestors did.
Although I did see lots of longhairs at the concert of Scorpions last fall.

Thanks for sharing that wonderful video, Serge!
Both the manes, a well as the music itself, are absolutely fantastic, and I greatly enjoying listneing to that song! Gotta´love the free spirit guys in the band, they are projecting that 100%! :)
And not to be an ass, but the beard on the lead singer... MAN, that thing needs to be kept in a zoo! :P
Hi Serge,
Thanks so much for posting this video! I really enjoyed watching and listening to this! These guys do remind me of the Allman Brothers and hell yes, they have awesome hair! All of them have wonderful long hair! I like the long sideburns the guy in the middle has! To me, it is strange to see hard rock band members with short hair. I guess it's just how I grew up listening to bands with all long haired members. I am going to listen to some more of these guys' videos. Even if I don't like the music, at least I can see their hair!
Have a great weekend my friend!
Ted
No offense Serge, but that band sounds very dated.
nothing modern about them. they sound like the atypical woodstock era band to me.
Hi Jake,
I think Serge just meant that this band is currently performing not that they sound modern.
Ted
Absolutely correct, Ted! Thanks!
Serge.
sorry, for the belated reply but that band did not impress me and I seriously doubt he would have posted it if they all had crew-cuts.
I generally listen to music that is pleasant to my ears, not because of their hair length or style.
and you?
