Milestones! I was thinking about this the other day - most likely after seeing some of your pictures - Ted and Steve and Dave in Argentina, Raul and Tony - When I think about the length of my hair and the patience I need, the slow process of growing it out - I think "I can't wait till..." but then I try to tell myself to just accept the journey - not hurry it along... Time flies so quickly - especially the older we get, right fellas of a certain age? So, when I think I am not getting very far very fast, I guess I just have to relax. I still cannot believe how great Ted and Tony's hair pics look after 12 and 14 months of growth. So, thanks for the encouragement - and Steve from OK - WOW! you look like a lion with that gorgeous thick mane of yours! Thanks for keeping on with these pics - and you younger guys, too - I'm hooked!
Congrats on your recent 8 month milestone! I think around 5 months I decided I needed to start documenting and looking for information. I found this community and also start taking pictures every month since then. I have also set a couple mid to long term milestones for myself as I do find that it makes me feel better knowing I am achieving something and making progress over the long run. Looking back on my 6 month picture compared to now I am amazed how much progress I've made! I don't have the most patience in the world so this process has been very difficult for me.

Hi Tommy,
I sure hope you hang in there my friend! The best is yet to come! You have great hair to grow long! But I do understand the patience issue:)
Ted
THANKS for the good word, Tommy - I agree - I need to take another picture for the August calendar (ha) It does help to know how things are progressing.

Hi Fitz,
I enjoyed reading this post! I would have to agree with you about time flying. I do appreciate your very nice compliments about my hair! Also, I would like to tell you a few things.
The first thing is that once your hair fills in and becomes all one length, you will like it a lot. I am really liking my hair more now that the front is catching up with the rest. The second thing is that I actually believe hair becomes less work the longer it gets. This sounds incorrect. But, you no longer have to get regular haircuts. And unless you have a particular style, you can just comb it back and go. Or you can ponytail it and go.
Some people say they have trouble with tangles. Since I have been rinsing my hair under cold water before leaving the shower, I don't experience this. I can even go without conditioner with this method and not have much tangling. Of course, I always use some type of conditioner. This could also be due to my hair type.
So, with that being said, let's get patient and achieve some milestones my friend! You can do it and will be glad you did!
Ted
Great post there, Fitz!
I do agree that watching guys just remotely ahead of you in their long-hair journey really helps motivate, as those in the 9-15 month range or so are people I can look up to and relate to, unlike dudes with marvelous manes of 4+ years... totally understand you there :)
I am also a rather impatient, obsessive guy when it comes to things I really crave for, so this waiting game ain't easy at all... 9 months tomorrow from almost no hair at all, and I am really happy I made it so far :D
What I find really helps, is getting new inspirations once in a while, and for me, it's been watching Spartacus lately. Besides the fact that the original Spartacus had AWESOME hair on the very first episode, before getting it all chopped off to become a gladiator (what a crying shame!), the dude who has really been inspiring me lately has actually been Gannicus, portrayed by actor Dustin Clare.
That dude has AMAZING looking wavy hair, which really makes me believe wavy hair can look outstanding as well with time! He does highlight it with lighter shades of brown and blonde, and that looks really great too.
Check it out.
CONGRATULATIONS ON 9 Months! I am one month behind you!
I can see why this guy would be an inspiration to you. He's got a great rugged look - one you will surely achieve.
I appreciate the lion comment! It's taken me four years to get to this point after starting my hair growth when it was one inch in length. It's been worth the wait!
Steve
Hey Fitz! I do agree with you that it is all about patience (something that not everyone has).
In my personal case, I tend not to think a lot about it. I noticed that the more I think about my hair, the more I look in the mirror the less progress that I see.
I used to look in the mirror every single day and not notice anything new. Of course, when people saw me they would say "Wow, your hair is so long". Since I see my hair every day I may not notice how long it is. For people who dont see me every day, the progress is more evident.
So try not to focus too much on it and just enjoy the journey. Once it gets longer enough, it won't be as much as exciting as it is now.
