Let's say you grow your hair out to chest length and you take care of it, so that it is healthy and beautiful.
You shave it all off. Grow it out the same way again.
Will your hair looks just like it did the first time?
I know, age and health can be a factor, but let's pretend we are talking about a young, healthy person around the age of 16 - 19 the first time and 19 - 21 the scond time.
I'd say it likely would at the ages you list with the huge caveat that the man has no MPB tendencies. 17-26 are the critical years to determine if a man will be affected greatly by MPB.
But does MPB make your hair type look different or will it just result in having bald spots on your head?
Sometimes MPB has an effect on an area even if it doesn't become completely bald. The hair shafts become thinner and weaker so this would affect the look and texture of the hair.
I'ed be inclined to cast a "YES" vote on that one! :-)

With Justin on this one...absent other significant factors, hair should grow out similarly...although the exact wave or curl pattern will be different.
Thought so.
Anyways, thanks to you and Justin.
I don't think it will grow the same. It's true than genetics are an important factor in the way your hair will look once you grow it out, but also the type of food you eat has a lot to do.
It also depends on what you consider "beautiful". Some people consider "beautiful" the type of hair that is dead straight, others prefer curly hair, others wavy, etc.
I see, but if the age difference is barely there, it will look similiar, right?
By beautiful I mean healthy hair, that looks well taken care of.
Hi Michail,
That is a very good question! I would say it might look different if the person's genetics changed very quickly. Most likely it would be very similar if not exactly the same.
But I have to ask. Is this your plan? He he:) Please don't cut your hair!
Ted
Hey Ted.
Thanks for your response.
No, this is not my plan, as short hair will never be an option for me and I don't aim on chest length. I want hip length hair.
If you are talking about your younger years - let's say to mid 20s - then it will probably be about the same - Some guys start to experience thinning and balding early on -some don't
I will tell you, though, as the years progress hair does change. I had beautiful thick hair well into my late 30s. I don't think I started to notice until I was in my 50s that my hair was thinning on top - at the crown. My hairline was always a bit receeding - but now my hair is quite thin on top. and overall, my hair has become darker - and now I have some grey coming in - but not much - I'm trying to deal with the thinning hair and accept it - I'm envious of you guys with the thick manes of hair... but, embracing what I do have!
hair definitely changes with age.
Aside from the spots on your head where the hair is thinning and balding, MPB doesn't have much of an impact on your hair type, right?
I would have ealready expected that the hair just wouldn't grow to be the same after a decade or two, but I'm inclined to believe that it will look alike if the age difference is only a few years.
Anyways, thanks for your insightful response.
Also, I really admire how quickly you accepted your hair the way it is. When I started growing mine out, I just couldn't stand because it wasn't as straight as I wanted it to be, which resulted in using a flattening iron regularly, blow drying it too hot and rubbing it too roughly with a towel, thus damaging it and having to trim of a few inches. It could have been much longer now, if I wouldn't have been so stupid.
