Hope everybody is having a safe and happy Labor day! I thought I would post my 13 month update a little early. I do apologize for the short hair spam=)

Here is the front. But it is hard to see the length because of the mullet effect. The front still has to catch up with the back.

I am very excited for you, Ted - and for your enthusiasm in jumping the gun to share September's progress - since it is still August 31! HA! As I approach my nine month mark in a couple weeks, it makes me look forward to see where I'll be in December, which will be my one year mark... Then, after that, maybe I'll lighten up and just take it as it comes... Today I went to the fair here and wore a cap because it was windy and hot - and this worked well to keep my hair from blowing in my eyes. I always enjoy going out in public these days and seeing all the long haired guys out there - it makes me anxious to join their club in due time...

Thanks a bunch for the kind words! Sometimes I just like the way my hair looks and feels! I must tell you that now it's trying to fall in front of my shoulders I am loving it. The front is taking longer to grow because of the stupid layering I had done a while back. That's also the reason the back is barely looking even across the bottom. But all in all, I am satisfied with it so far.
I am definitely looking forward to your next update my friend! I understand what you mean about the cap and the wind! I usually wear a cap when I have to stay outside in the wind. But if I'm going inside somewhere I usually wait until I get inside to straighten my hair out. Luckily I can just brush it back with my hands and it looks good. Of course, I couldn't do that until I got some decent length.
I also understand about joining the other longhaired guys! I see way too many guys with nice long hair and have major envy! There's a guy at my dialysis clinic who has mid-back length black hair. It used to be past his butt. He told me he had major tangling that he couldn't remove. So he cut it off. I was sad to hear this. It's very nice to see a guy with longhair every day I have dialysis. Major inspiration for me! And yes, with much patience you shall join the ranks in due time!

Wow, Ted!! Your new pic is an amazing contrast to your old profile pic! Your hair is most definitely growing and it's having a huge effect on your appearance. Despite the "awkward stage", I think the growing out phase is the most exciting period of having long hair.

Thanks so much for your very kind words! Yes, I think I have hit solid shoulder length finally! I can make a small tail. Here is a pic of the back.

Hey, Ted! Your update is great as always! Yeah, you certainly reached a shoulder length now. Can I wonder what elastics are you using? How many times do you usually wrap your hair when putting it to a ponytail?

Thanks so much for your kind words my friend! Believe it or not, I don't wear a tail very often yet. I am going to wait until the hair gets more even and full in the back. Also, the front needs to get longer to fit in the elastic better. The elastic I am using is one of my wife's. I like this one because it doesn't have the metal on it. With this elastic I have to wrap it twice to hold the tail well. I think my hair has thinned out over the years.

What are you talking about - "small tail"? It looks great and it is certainly a respectable pony tail, my friend...
The other night my daughter had me put my hair in a pony tail for her friend - and they laughed and hooted over it in grand style - it is a pathetic little thing and the sides aren't long enough yet to reach the back to tie together. But, they exprssed honest enjoyment and the excitement that the old man's hair is getting long. My daughter's friend wanted to put two side tails in like Mily Cyrus - but I didn't go along with that.

Ha! Thanks a bunch for the ponytail compliment! It is getting there! But it needs to grow more from the front to look better.
That's crazy about your daughter and her friend laughing about your tail! We will see how much they laugh when you get that nice full tail my friend! With your hair color that is going to be an impressive sight! Don't worry, the sides and front will get long enough to tie in the tail! My own hair is just now barely reaching the tie in front.
About Miley Cyrus...I say don't even go there! Please keep it growing and flowing my friend!

You hair looks great and is really starting to show some serious length compared to your profile picture! I think it might me the weight of it that is pulling the curl and wave out of your hair and really showing it's true length! Great job! :)

Thanks so much for the compliments my friend! I'm definitely loving the progress I am making! I can tell it's getting longer because it will not stay out of my face! But that's okay! I will probably end up getting some of those very thin headbands.
I don't really seem to have that much shrinkage due to the curling. You might be correct about the weight pulling the curl out. I think maybe the shoulders are making the hair bunch up. Believe me, I don't really care what it does as long as it grows! I think it's good to have some curl to give it movement.

Have you ever compared your avatar picture and the ones you are posting now? Have you noticed the progress? That's the best evidence you have to see that your hair is actually growing and I think it really helps to go on with this trip.

I thank you so much for the kind words my friend! Yes, believe it or not I have noticed that. It is definitely nice to notice progress! I am really liking how my hair is starting to fall down my back. I can't wait until all of my hair sits behind my shoulders. I think it might take another 4-6 months for that. I shall keep growing and want you also to keep growing!

Great progress Ted, and the ponytail looks great too! I bought some thin headbands the other day and do seem to work very well when I'm doing something that has me looking downward. Specifically while playing guitar, or working on a computer the headbands have been great!
