Well, this was really meant as a VLOG to be updated manybe each 3-4 months or so showing my hair growth, but in the meanwhile, I find there's really lots of stuff I love talking about, and even this secluded introvert loves hearing and watching himself speak online, so... :P
Here's entry #3, some thoughts and tips regarding the awkward stage, and how do we deal with it.
Again, filmed half an hour ago, in one shot, hair is washed about 2 hours ago. Fluffiness DELUXE! :D

Hi Raul,
Nice video you made there which of course is great encouragement for the newbies to longhair. For me I don't even recall what the awkward stage was like being it took place decades ago but I can appreciate what you guys are going through. It's such a slow process but eventually you'll get there so be patient:) Hope all is well my friend.Cheers

Hey Mark!
Yeah, I would guess that with having long hair for a decade or two, one would completely forget the trials and turbulations of the awkward stage.
In that regard, I am sorta' glad I am so into this while going through the proccess, since that enables me to use the scene of youtube and share my experiences with others.
Pretty motivating stuff, seeing others start their long hair vlogs because of mine and other guys like me, really gives a greater general purpse to this all.
So, still think my hair is nice and ruly?! hehehe...
Hi Raul,
Sure I think your hair looks great, unmolested like it is in your video :)Of course I do recall the pics where you did treat it and they looked fine also but I think you are a tad over critical of your natural hair. It's cool having your own unique way of seeing how the hair grows out.
Well for me back in the day there was no internet, no youtube,no FB or tweeting for hair encouragement. My inspiration came with people I've seen in real life with long hair or on TV.Back in the 80s was the birth of MTV which was so cool when they actually were a music video channel.lol.Metal became mainstream so MTV even had a show for it known as Headbangers Ball! Also the club scene brought out every longhaired guy one could imagine all under one roof! Oh heaven.LOL.Between the bands and the fans there was hair all over the place.Ah yes those were the days my friend:)Cheers

One would think us "youngsters" don't remember those shows, though even at my ripe 30 years of age, I definitely LOVED watching HBB, both the orignal on MTV, and the spinoff on MTV later on in the late 90's :)
Don't even get me started on what has become of MTV today... it's a shame really!
Glad you're enjoying the "unmolested look", my friend :D That makes at least one of us! hehehe
Before I even had cable or MTV there was this UHF band channel known as U68 that played endless metal music videos.I remember having to dial that channel in on that other tuner dial on the front of the TV set.I'd have to look but believe I recorded some of that broadcast on my VHS tape recorder but gosh knows if the tape is any good after so many years.Yea as for MTV its a disaster.I never watch the channel as its just too depressing.lol

Hi Raul,
As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I must tell you that your hair doesn't really look that fluffy to me! I will tell you that when I used the Argan oil it made my hair look more wavy. My hair also looks more fluffy when I wash it with shampoo. One thing I would recommend to you is to clarify your hair. You would be surprised how your hair looks and feels after clarifying. But make sure you condition well after clarifying. Also, I wouldn't recommend clarifying too often.
Can you please tell me where to find Christian's videos? I am wanting to view those if possible. Thanks buddy!
Ted
Hey Ted!
Thank you, buddy!
Not sure what clarifying means in the sense of hair, but I am sure you will tell me all about it ;)
It just might be true, what you say.. that by using the Argan oil, I am actually giving my hair some extra nourishment and moisture, and thus creating more waves. Now that you mention it, on the days I am away from home and not having my usual products, it DOES seem to be more straight, though much more "harsh" and coarse as well. Interesting...
Christian's video blog is right here, enjoy! He's really awesome as production, and these are fun to watch!

Hi buddy,
The clarifying shampoo removes all buildup from your hair. When you use it, you will notice your hair is very hard to run your fingers through. So you must condition after you use it. I think it might help with your fluffiness though. Would be worth a try.
Yes, if your hair is truly curly or wavy, giving it the moisture it wants will enhance the curliness. Nothing wrong with that. But you can try to deemphasize the curls by using non-moisturizing products. Of course, this might lead to roughness in your hair's feel. You just have to experiment. That's what's so fun about growing hair!
Thanks for the link to Christian's videos! I am going to check them out now.
Ted
Thanks for the explanation, bud :)
Enjoy!
Man I tell you Christian has some awesome curls! Also, the color of his hair is very nice!
Ted
Shaun white hair, baby! Tough to grow out, amazing when already long! =)
You got that right buddy! Although I think Shaun cut his beautiful locks. But no hair stylist can duplicate what Mother Nature creates! I love waist length very curly hair! As you say, difficult to grow, but awesome when long!
Ted
A tragic loss indeed. What would possess him to cut off his long hair? Not only did he have amazing hair but it was kind of his trademark in the snowboarding scene. I don't get it.
Ok , I already subscribed to your videos. I had NO IDEA you were documenting your hair journey on youtube .
I have been following guys who did this but following someone that I interact with is a lot more fun haha
So I'll check out your vids now.
Thanks for the subscribe, Dave! :)
Yeah, it's a fun new way to keep positive focus on the hair journey, and I have to admit I am really enjoying all the questions , suggestions and mail I get from other youtube users :)
Btw, I still am waiting on hearing more on that Keratine treatment, buddy ;)
I actually posted about the Keratin treatment on your 9-month update thread haha but I will paste it here:
Keratine is basically a protein that's naturally in your hair. So applying keratine to your hair is more of a restorative hair treatment. Its 100% natural.
The reason why it is not approved in some parts of the world, its because this treatment also contains a low level of formaldehyde. But again, they contain low safe levels of it.
This treatment can last for up to 6 months.
As far as I know this hair treatment is also available in the USA. Really, its amazing. This treatment you can also get it done yourself. You just buy the keratin (which is not expensive, at least here) apply it and do all the job yourself.
You could probably find out if you can buy this online ( and also find out if your local customs would allow this product to come in to Norway )
But hey, try it out if you can. It saves a lot of time and money on styling your hair.
Thanks man, didn't see your reply :)
Does that mean it's illegal in Argentina as well, and you actually done it yourself?
If I am rather hesitant to trying something like this at a salon, I will definitely be scared shitless trying something like this on my own hair... god knows it takes AGES to grow, so damaging it and later having to start all over would hurt, bigtime!
I asked around and 5/5 hair salons in my city told me the Keratine/Brazilian Blowout treatment is illegal here, and the health department won't allow it anymore.
I REALLY like your pictures though, and would love to see some more before and after pics, when you have the time, Dave :)
No, its not actually ilegal.
You can get it done in a salon and/or get it done yourself (if you know where to buy the Keratin and how to do the treatment).
My brother is a hair stylist and I got it done at home (of course he is a professional so he knows how to do it). The whole process is very simple: apply the keratin over clean hair, leave it on for 30 min, then wash out, blow dry and flat iron (the flat iron part is important to seal the cuticles of your hair) . Thats it.
You cant wash your hair for the following 3 days and then you have to use sulfate-free shampoos so that the straightening effect lasts longer.
The treatment is called " Keratin Shock ". It's a shock of Keratin applied to your hair (Remember keratin is a protein that already exists in your hair, this protein exists in differents levels. Some people NATURALLY have more keratin than others, thats why their hair looks better).
I will take some photos of my hair and post them so that you can see the change (I do have some BEFORE photos but I will have to take some NOW photos haha ).
These are some pictures I found online:
And you know what? Its true that is always better to embrace the shape and the texture of your hair. But that does not mean that you cant try other methods to make your hair look like the way you want.
Actually, all the beautiful people with beautiful hair we see online or on TV , most of them go through some kind of treatment (either chemical or not) to get that silky perfect hair we all want.
I think its okay to take care of your hair, but you will always use something that will damage it (gel, shampoo, spray, flat iron, blow dryer, the WATER itself also damages hair, etc. So at the end, everything damages your hair - in higher or level rates, but at the end everything damages your hair) So dont worry about trying other methods to make it look the way you want :)
Another great video, Raul! Guys starting out now have so many resources to help them and you've certainly added to them.
I got a little laugh out of your comments about protection in other areas of life too! LOL
Thanks, buddy! :)
Not a huge fan of them rubbers, but a man's gotta' do what a man's gotta' do, eh? Hehe
I too literally "LOL'ed" at this comment. Love the video's Raul, keep it up!
Hi Raul,
Cheers to you for another awesome video, and for inspiring others through their own hair growing journeys. Yes, we all have those days when the hair just does not want to do what we would like it to do, but the final rewards are worth it in the end.
Keep up the good work!
David
