Hey guys!
Hope my videos, comments and participation is still welcomed here, even though I chose a different style of hair :)
This time around I've filmed my vlog entry in full HD, and I hope you enjoy it a bit more than usual :) Talking about some of the thought proccess of getting physically and mentally ready for the dreadlocks, next weekend!
Let me know what you think!

Of course you're still welcome here! We've had members before who have gone the dreadlock route. Fairly recently a former regular named "The Ball Guy" checked in. I believe he said he had undone his dreads but he had them for a long time.
This community, while focused intensely on men with long hair and who are growing long hair, also thrives because of its members and their various off-topic interests and pursuits. Your participation here is valued for more than just your journey to becoming a longhair.
When I was in California in June, I noticed a couple who both had dreads almost to their knees. I think the man's were even thicker than the woman's. I have to admit it looked pretty cool. Their son also had quite long hair though it wasn't dreaded. Dreads definitely make a statement and would fit well with your other features as you mentioned in the video.
I'm looking forward to seeing the after photos next weekend!
Hey Jason!
Good to hear we are all welcome here, no matter the style in which we choose to style or grow our hair in :)
I really liked your story about the couple with dreadlocks, and while I still definitely LOVE long, straight, beautiful hair, I can definitely imagine those two being a beautiful sight together, and I am really glad you were able to appreciate that s well :)
Hey Raul! I have to admit I am slightly bummed, I was excited to see what the dreads would look like today! I even spent 3 or 4 hours the other night watching youtube videos and reading about dreads, because I really didn't know anything about them and I was curious.
I'm glad you decided to switch to the back-combing method, as it does seem to be the common consensus of the best way to start dreads with the long run in mind!
I guess the anticipation will have to build for another week! Thanks for the video, I am watching this on my Friday lunch break so I'm getting pumped for the weekend that you are most likely already enjoying thanks to the time zones!

Hey Tommy!
I know man, I was really bummed as well to have to cancel the original appointment, but I really feel I made the right choice, and that I would really regert doing them in the wrong method, which would later result in a different look than what I am seeking :)
Really love the fact that you're sharing this excitement together with me, and promise to post both a vlog and pics here already next sunday! :D
Btw, here in central western europe, it's already 6:50 pm and officially THE WEEKEND! WOOHOOO! :D
Hang in there, almost done with the week, bud!
THIS is what I mean by thick, lovely dreadlocks.

Now for me the ideal length of dreadlocks is at least waist length but I'd prefer butt length. Around here i've seen a number of guys and gals with that length of dreadlocks.
Believe it or not, my friend, but I actually agree! I absolutely LOVE the idea and look of waist/butt length dreadlocks, especially when they are put up in a nice bun, then released for the entire world to see :)
Those things take AGES to get to that length, and I do mean centuries ;)
I watched all of his videos the other night, very cool to see the evolution!

Right? It's fascinating following these journals that have been documeting a 1-2-3 year long proccess! Really impressive stuff! :)

I love that guy's dreadlocks. Ive been following him for a long time.
Too bad he cut them off though.
Definitely a shame, but again, I am not here to cast judgement on anyone. They did look magestic from the start, and that is something that has really helped me in my decision regarding the sectioning. I want at least 1" sections, if not 1.5" if possible, to give me a bit less, yet very nice and thick locks.
He used to have aroud 37 or so I believe, so it's really interesting to see with how many I end up with. It's all a factor of hair texture and thickness, as well as section size, form and shape.
Are there too many dreaded-guys (or girls) in norway?
When I see photos from Scandinavian people, in general they all have blonde, thin straight hair and dont really imagine them with dread locks. I think I never saw someone from that part of the world wearing dread locks !
There are quite a few norwegian people with dreadlocks in my city of Fredrikstad (5th biggest in the country), and oddly enough, there are methods which have been adapted for locking up and dreading fine, straight hair, as is the concensus around these parts of the globe :)
Luckily, this is the very first time my thick, wavy hair (seeing as I am born in Romania) is going to be a huge plus, and probably dread a lot easier than most people's hair around here :)
I think your thick, wavy hair is perfect for growing either long natural hair or dreadlocks if you want !!
Didnt know you were born in Romania. Lots of romanian here in Argentina :)
We're like the plague, we're everywhere :D
Born in Romania, raised in Israel, living in Norway.
Gotta' keep it interesting, my friend ;)
Hmph, I was excited to see your Dreadlocks...
Hehehe.. the title DOES say PRE BACKCOMBING! ;)
Should have paid more attention to it.
Booooo, Raul...! I was hoping to open my YouTube account and see a new video of you with dreads on your head already hahaha. I am gonna have to wait another week..!
Not sure what the difference between backcombing and crochet is, but I am sure that these dreadlocks with suit your style just great.
Another week, my friend ;)
And btw, as I am sure you, of most people realize, one does not simple "get dreadlocks".
One starts the proccess, and takes good care of them for a few good months before they even start looking like dreadlocks.. it's just like the growing your hair out proccess, just even more noticable and slower ^^
Messy at first, gorgeous after the 1 year mark, if you ask me :)
I know ! While I was watching your video I was thinking "This guys has to be really patient to do this. If growing hair takes time, I dont even want to imagine how much time is takes to grow hair and get dreads the way you want them".
So congrats for being so patient, I wouldnt be able to do this hahah
Well, if you'll watch some of the dreadlock journals on YT, like the one ryanOriely had (the one I linked to in the BTW comment), you will see it's a constant fight in the first few months, where they do whatever the heck they want to do, and you just have to keep palmrolling, keeping them clean and giving them much TLC.
After a year or so, they really are mature and start being ZERO maintenance... then it's all about reaching those TRULY impressive lengths, which in a weird way, excites and intrigues me much more so in dreads than in plain long hair :)
Excellent, enjoy the journey and I eagerly anticipate seeing your progress.
I've had dreadlocks in one form or another from some time in 2003(?) until Nov2011. I know that I will have them again, but now I'm on a mission to see what my natural terminal length is.
Good to see more dreadlocks will be among the ranks of MLHH :)

Awesome to hear from you, TBG! :)
Would love to see some pics of you with your dread locks, preferably before/after/during the phases of locking, if you have any to share :) Couldn't find anything in the archives here!
Do you have a new site TBG? The ones that contained your photos in the archive are now defunct as is my old geocities site. We do still have your old avatar photo though!
That ''Ball'' Guy's dreads
Hi buddy,
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! You are so good at talking to the camera! I fully support you getting dreadlocks although I do love your natural hair texture and color! And you are absolutely welcome here regardless of your hair style! I look forward to following your progress with the dreadlocks! I will subscribe to your videos very soon. Keep up the positive attitude and go for it my friend! Great rest of the weekend to you!
Ted
Thank you, Ted! :)
Oddly enough, I do get more comfortable with the camera with each video, and despite screwing up a word or a pronounciation here and there, I am rather pleased with the results! :)
Appreciate your support and kind heart, and would absolutely love having you as a subscriber to follow my journal for many years to come, my friend!
Have a great rest of the weekend yourself, there in the great state of Texas!
