Hopefully I have fixed this for you.

I would note the original links work, you just have to remove the
stuff in brackets []
Your hair looks great as does the view. What mountains are these?
The Southern Appalachian Mountains.....Near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Square brackets and HTML knockoffs don't generally work on MLHH. You have to use angle brackets and HTML. There is an exception for IMG tags (which Brad tried to use) but the URL has to start with http, not https, for the exception to work. The reason is because when the kludge was added to allow IMG tags, it was unusual for people to put photos on their web pages in secure (https) directories.
You can only link still photos, not videos. For videos, you just have to put the URL in, like Brad did for his photos. This is because the display of videos inside of web pages is not dependable, varying depending on the web browser of the user, and MLHH wants material on the site to be visible to everyone.
Browsers are still often changing how they change the handling of the various video formats out there. and popping up anew out there, and companies like You Tube have stables of engineers keeping their software up to date following this moving target. MLHH does not have that kind of budget. On the other hand, how photos are shown on the Internet has stabilized, and MLHH can let you link them reliably.
We have a similar situation of a "moving target" with handling still photos taken sideways on cell phones. Every camera encodes "which direction is up" differently. Maintaining software to stay on top of this is outside of MLHH's budget. Thus, a user has to know which edge of his cell phone is the "top" of the camera to be sure the photo doesn't end up sideways or upside down here.

It should be noted that today it probably is a good idea to put those photos on secure (https) directories since that photo could very well contain the GPS co-ordinates of your house.
(Unless it is dis-abled.)
How abou posting an intermeiate step? Display a perliminary image, if the image needs to be changed allow the user to go back to the original post and resubmit the photo it the correct
orientation? (i.e. show the image to user before actually posting to the board, that way the user can change the photo
orientation.)
The purpose of a secure server is to prevent interception plus reading of a document between its transmission and reception. Anyone you let see the photo can see GPS data whether you sent it from a secure server or not. If you let the whole world have access to the photo, like what happens on MLHH, using a secure server is pointless.
Deciding whether to do such would be up to the current tech crew. When I was involved with that crew, we chose to not pass a post back and forth, whether it was to edit text or change a photo. Our reasoning was that such a step complicates the posting process, and we felt more people not needing the feature would get tripped up by it or annoyed by it than those using it would benefit from it.
If a user does not know which side of his camera is "up", it is an easy thing for him to find out by running a test. This is something he should want to know, since he will likely be using his photos in e-mails and on other social sites besides this one.
