After posting Cutting Hair Due To Others Telling You Should Change I watched another video. The video is a guy who has long hair and he mentiothings that I didn't think to say in ned first post. He said that all the guys had same haircut because of fashion today in a different country since he travels a lot and he does travel reviews and did hair videos online. In video he said that every guy there looked boring since they all look the same and it's sad to see every guy not having their own look. I feel the same way because it would be boring if everybody had the same look. Every individual should have their own look and not everyone should have to follow fashion trends. I do feel anyone who are against long haired guys are conceited and they should go from the inside of the person and not the outside. Most of my life I was a follower to be accepted but now I want to be a leader and be my own person. Because at the end of the day I am doing it only for myself and not others. Lastly as advive for people in public who say negative comments you don't even know since some might cut hair due to this you should ask yourself this Why should I change for people I don't even know and probably won't see again and Why do they even care? With family and friends you should tell how you feel and ignore them if they don't stop.

Hi Ryan,
Yeah, things like spelling and grammar, punctuation, etc. are things that can make or break good communication between people -- not that I'm perfect at it myself, just that I try my best to pay attention to it by proof-reading before clicking the little button that posts our comments.
Especially for the sake of our non-native English language speakers that frequent our hyperboard here, it's even more of a challenge for them whenever they wish to chime in and contribute a comment or 2...
In any case, re. your original topic about cutting one's hair in order to please others:
Yes, you are absolutely correct that trying to please others over a silly little thing like making a relative or friend happy (at the expense of our own unhappiness) is not only just plain foolish, it's downright WRONG!! The hair attached to your own head is YOURS, not theirs -- and it is one of the great joys in life to do with it as you please!!!
My way of dealing with manipulative behaviors from people like that is to no longer involve myself with those kinds of people. And if it's a family member who is the "control freak" about this (which makes it harder to cut the ties completely), then I simply have been known to back away as far as possible, both in frequency of visits and also time duration of each visit, in order to save my own sanity and emotional well-being.
And to any of our younger readers here: financial independence from over-controlling parent(s) is an important key to one's personal freedom on this issue -- all the more reason to do well in school by getting excellent grades, so your earning power once you enter into the job market will be better rather than meager!
'Nough said!

Hi Ken,
I have to agree with all that you said from good grammar to being an independent thinker.A post that's hard to read just doesn't get read since no one wants it to be a chore to try and figure out what the author really meant.I always proof read my replies as I'm bad with typos and would hate to see the rough draft on this board.LOL.Even when I reread my posts sometimes I can't figure out what I meant early on so how's anyone else going to ;)
Now as for someones opinion on things such as your hair.....well they should keep such opinions to themselves unless specifically asked for one. That way the person asking is prepared that it may be negative since an opinion asked is usually an honest one given.
OK, so with that said everyone can return to their regular programming:) Cheers

Ryan, your spelling was not perfect (nor is mine always!) but that's not such a big deal. It was not your imperfect spelling that made your post a little difficult to read.
I find that the most difficult posts to read are those that are formed as a single unbroken chunk of text. Advertisers, for instance, have long known that. That is why they always break their text down into bitesize chunks so they get their message across easily.
Spacing every single sentence on its own would also make reading difficult. The trick is to divide your post into paragraphs - a short collection of sentences that contain the same thought. Here I have repeated your post exactly as you wrote it but divided into paragraphs. See how each paragraph starts a new train of thought? Hopefully, it makes it easier to read ...

Good points, Damon! It's all about communication though, isn't it? (In this case, here at MLHH, how we communicate is accomplished by typing on a computer)
As I said to Ryan in my reply to him earlier, I don't claim to be perfect at spelling, etc., either. But I try to pay attention to it, as well as pay attention to other things that will help me communicate my thoughts as best as possible. For example: if I try my best to remember rules and reasons for punctuation, that might help me communicate better, too.
There's an old-fashioned term, "easy on the eyes", which is usually used in reference to a person who's nice looking. But it doesn't have to be limited to literally just a physically attractive human being. "Easy on the eyes" can also refer to a well-written book, a poster or advertisement, a painting or photo, a peaceful landscape or garden, and a whole host of other things we could probably add to that list... including a great looking head of hair!
My closest friend happens to be a woman with a Graphic Arts degree, and one of the things I remember learning from her is the concept of providing "rest for the eyes" -- she showed me examples in her design work where she took an old yucky design that was crowded, confusing, and too "busy"-looking, and transformed the flyer or brochure into a simpler, cleaner, "easier to read" presentation...
Which brings me to the point of recognizing and admitting to one of my own bad habits: being too long-winded (LOL)!!
OK, I'll shut up now! ("Yeah, right!" - LOL)

I'd love to comment but I couldn't understand a single word you typed.
Just kidding!!! :D
Nice paragraphs, Ken. Yeah, writing with lots of space is great - which makes it easy for me to write coz I've got tons of spare space between my ears!

I've been reading these complaints about posters spelling and
grammer and I have to point out if we emphasize spelling and
grammer too much we'll end up driving prospecitive hair farmers
away.
I also would have to point out that when it comes to spelling and grammer the English language is a very difficult language to
master. Even though i'm 59 years old and have been speaking and
writing endlsh for many years now I'm the first to admit that i'm
not perfect when it comes to grammer and spelling.
But if we emphasize spelling and greammer too much we'll drive
prospective hair groweres away. They'll end up texting supportive friends, etc.
When i was in school all those years ago the class I hated the
most was English. (Especially the english class in college
where we had to memorize poems.) So if we emphasize spelling
and grammer too much it will be like reliving those awful english classes and will drive guys away. I'd rather have
prospective hair farmers come here and have really bad spelling and grammer than go out and cut their hair and have perfect spelling and grammer. So to get those long haired men I'm willing to tolerate bad spelling and grammer. For me that long hair is much more important than some trivial speling and grammer
mistakes.
You are totally right, LHIA. The OP himself mentioned that people may have had a problem understanding his post due to his spelling and I was responding to that. I was trying to be helpful rather than critical - but my comments may have inadvertently caused offence. My apologies to Ryan and anyone else who may have been offended.

I'm 59 years old and learned many years ago to ignore unsolicited advice from others. If they tell you to cut your hair and you
cut your hair it won't stop there. I've refused to cut my hair
but i've also found the advice doesn't stop with the hair.
They'll advise me to loose weight, get a nose job, etc. Even if you cut your hair they'll find something else to complain about
to no end.
So I learned long ago to ignore them and in some cases tell them
to mind their own business or go jump in a lake.
