When I vacuum the rugs, my shed, waist-length hair spools up onto the beater bar and eventually stops the vacuum cleaner. It's quite hard to remove it from the roller, too. I leave my hair down most of the time, so it goes everywhere when it sheds.
I ended up taking the rugs outside today and brushing them first. Anyone else have this problem?
I have better luck using a shop vac first to get all the heavy
stuff (which includes hairballs!) up first.
I didn't even think of that. Thanks.
Another alternative is sweeping the carpet with a stiff bristle broom first (not straw type). Uses no electricity, is quiet, and builds arm muscles (kinda). I use this method and you get a hair roll as you sweep.
